Concept Proposal for Effective Preparation of Expatriates for an International Assignment in the Czech Republic

Diplomová práce má za cíl navrhnout koncept účinné přípravy expatriotů na jejich působení v České republice. K dosažení tohoto cíle byla zvolena kombinace studia relevantních teoretických rámců a provedení vlastního výzkumu v podobě dotazníkového šetření o délce 35 otázek. Dotazník byl předložen expatriotům působícím v České republice. Navržený koncept lze uplatnit na přípravu expatriotů vyslaných mezinárodními firmami a expatriotů, kteří mají záměr působit v ČR z vlastní iniciativy.
Proposal for Intercompany Communication Change in a Multinational Company Operating in IT Services

Diplomová práce se zabývá návrhem změny vnitropodnikové komunikace ve vybrané mezinárodní společnosti působící v oblasti IT služeb. Předmětem výzkumu v analytické části je zmapování vztahů místních zaměstnanců k jejich vedoucím a kolegům pocházejících z odlišných národních kultur. Dále je pak zkoumán vliv kulturních odlišností na aplikovaný způsob řízení a komunikaci v rámci mezinárodního týmu. Na základě výsledků výzkumu provedeného mezi zaměstnanci společnosti formou dotazníkového šetření jsou v návrhové části společnosti doporučena opatření vedoucí k zefektivnění komunikace v rámci společnosti a zefektivnění spolupráce v rámci multikulturního týmu.
Long-term Work Abroad and its Impact on Further Career Development

The master thesis concentrates on long term work abroad and its impact on further career development. The procedure of the control workers (expatriates) in separate stages, e.g. dispatch of the workers, manage the procedure of the expatriation and the stage of the return from abroad (repatriation) is approached on the specific example the Czech Trade Promotion Agency. The impact of the gained skills on the further personal and career development has been considered by the empirical research between the managers, who currently are abroad. The procedure of the dispatch and return of the expatriates and its impact on organization development has been evaluated by the analysis of the actual situation in Czech Trade Promotion Agency. This issue has been considered in the specific environment of the public service. The Czech Trade Promotion Agency is contributory organization, established by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.

The thesis deals with the issue of International Management procedures in multinational corporations regarding sending their employees abroad. Its aim is to describe the process of expatriation, define the importance of culture and the role of the company in the process as well as to analyse the situation of expatriates in the Czech Republic based on a questionnaire research.
Czech employees in ex-USSR countries - analysis and practical recommendations

The thesis deals with expatriation of Czech employees to ex-USSR countries. Potential HR policies and the use of various HR tools are discussed. Based on the above a comprehensive set of learnings, instructions and recommendations for potential expatriates in ex-Soviet countries has been created. The conclusions be also used by HR specialists who arrange such expatriations. The thesis concentrates on two groups of workers: on managers and on professional athletes. The thesis also analyzes the sectors where Czech corporations in the region invest in the most - finance, engineering, investment units. Most differences that should be accounted for by a Czech expatriates are worse living standards, different habits at workplace, different culture and environment, different costs of living and net salary. The thesis is based on a systematic analysis of a large set of secondary data, mainly from serious newspapers and professional magazines.
Čeští expatriati v Číně - faktory úspěchu

Contributing to the available literature on the cross-cultural management between China and the Czech Republic, this thesis is examining the factors influencing the performance and success of Czechs working and living in China. It firstly defines the cultural settings of China and the Czech Republic, their key aspects and cultural specifics. Secondly, it describes the desired qualities of a successful expatriate - the so called global mindset. Thirdly, the thesis focuses on the specifics of working in China and on the potential culture shock a Czech expatriate is likely to face after relocating there. In the practical part of the thesis, the methods and results of an original primary field research conducted among more than 30 Czech expatriates in China are outlined. Using correlations and content analysis, the final results are drawn and the prior hypotheses either confirmed or disproved. The summary of the thesis offers then a set of recommendations for an expatriate-to-be who is coming to China - an ancient land surrounded by mysteries even in our modern times.

This doctoral thesis is structured into six chapters and deals with expatriates' behaviour and its influence on the organizational architecture of German and Austrian subsidiaries in the Czech republic, which are managed by German and Austrian expatriates.

This thesis is focused to expatriates who have a live experience with working and living in Anglo-Saxon culture and in Britain's companies. The object of this thesis is to initiate readers into an area of expatriation and by own research find out the effect and opinions of managers acting in GB on management and organization architecture of Britain's companies. The first theoretical part of the thesis offers the reader information and definitions related to international human resources, expatriation, national and company culture. Their auxilliary part is identification with metod preparing of research. The key practical part is own research and answering particular research questions related to the organizational architecture of Britain's companies. The results of the thesis are findings that are compared with defined hypotheses.
