Guilt, Purification, Forgiveness
Slezáková, Veronika ; Keřkovský, Pavel (advisor) ; Halama, Jindřich (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the conceptions of Guilt, Purification and Forgiveness. Based on the study of the writings of Karl Jaspers, Božena Komárková, Martin Buber and Helmut Weber, the thesis comes to an understanding of the issues of guilt, forgiveness and purification in both philosophical and theological terms. Furthermore, this work introduces other issues that relate to the chosen topic, for example, the concepts of Repentance, Penance and Conversion. Thanks to the acquired findings, I want to come to an understanding of the concept of guilt in Bernhard Schlink's novel The Reader. This thesis is concerned with Schlink's comprehension of guilt as well as with the foundation for reconciliation with guilt that Schlink outlines. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Specific behaviour of soldiers towards reproductives of termite genus Prorhinotermes (Isoptera: Rhinotermitidae).
Dolejšová, Klára ; Šobotník, Jan (advisor) ; Klimeš, Petr (referee)
Soldier caste is the oldest altruistic caste in termites, highly specialized for defensive tasks. Therefore, a number of adaptations in anatomy and behaviour can be observed in soldier, lacking in other termite castes. The aim of this study was to verify the hypothesis that in disturbed groups the soldiers will prefer to stand by and defend the reproductives, the most valuable individuals. Therefore, I studied in two species of the genus Prorhinotermes (P. simplex and P. canalifrons) the ability of soldiers to discriminate neotenic reproductives and provide them with defence. In agreement with the initial hypothesis, the soldiers of both species prooved to be able of an instantaneous recognition of reproductives and remained close to them. In P. simplex, the neotenic female was the most attractive individual, while in P. canalifrons, neotenics of both sexes were equally attractive. The observed preference of reproductives appears to occur only with a certain age of the reproductives in incipient colonies, along with their sexual maturation. Caste specificity of cuticular lipids supports the presumption that the caste recognition is based on olphactoric cues in the cuticle of reproductives.
The analysis of certain moves by the libero in volleyball when not in possession of the ball
Dostálová, Veronika ; Buchtel, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Vorálek, Rostislav (referee)
This thesis focuses on the analysis of certain moves by the libero in volleyball when not in possession of the ball. I analyse individual sequences with the help of the DartFish software program, which I apply to situations following serve of my team and that of my opponent. Movement is analysed up to the moment the libero makes contact with the ball, as well as after contact. The theoretical section introduces the reader to volleyball as a sport. Here I address individual moves in play with emphasis on the actions of passing and digging, the libero's main functions. The conclusion of the theoretical section also provides basic information on the diagnostic programs Datavolley and DartFish, which are used for breaking down volleyball moves. In the research section, movement of the libero during a match while not in possession of the ball is analysed. I examine the distance of moves during individual rallies, the time of moves, starting positions, and positions while passing and digging. Conclusions are drawn based on the results, which are then evaluated and compared. Key words: libero, defence, starting position, movement in the court, analysis, DartFish. Defensive game abilities, combinations and systems in beach volleyball
Pihera, František ; Vorálek, Rostislav (advisor) ; Petružela, Jan (referee)
The main intention of this bachelor's work was to observe and compare types of defense of three chosen beach volleyball teams, which were as follows: Perušič/Schweiner, Mol/Sorum and McKibbin/McKibbin. Results were based on statistics of watched matches and a questionnaire, which was sent to the chosen teams. The present paper is made of two parts. Firstly, a theoretical introduction which explains the main issue to the reader, outlines the general history of beach volleyball and defines the main terms needed to understand the research. The following practical part focuses on the observation of the chosen matches and their evaluation based on the filled-in questionnaire. With regards to the traced data, the best defense has the team of McKibbin/McKibbin, which scored the highest percentage of successful defense (61%). Second was the team of Perušič/Schweiner, with the percentage of 54% of rewarding defense, and third came the team of Mol/Sorum, who were successful in 51% of all defense cases. Keywords: blocker, defender, block, beach volleyball, "side-out", defense, fruitfulness

Strategic Culture of the Czech Republic
Beneš, Jan ; Karásek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Eichler, Jan (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee)
Jan Beneš Strategic Culture of the Czech Republic Abstract The aim of the dissertation is to define in a complex manner the strategic culture of the Czech Republic. Strategic culture is at first analysed as a conceptual phenomenon both in relation to strategy itself and to the theories of international relations. The dissertation introduces the different streams of thought about strategic culture and then studies the approaches of the key involved authors with a special focus on the discussion between the first and the third generation of strategic culture scholars. Concerning the fact that the strategic culture has been originally created for the study of the behaviour and strategic thought of major powers, the author analyses the historical and geostrategic peculiarities of a small state in the Central Europe and then defines own conceptual and methodological framework. Using the method of grounded theory, the important symbols and narratives from the Czech history as well as the most important moments in the Czech political and strategic thought and decision-making are being examined. The historical narratives re-appear and influence the decision-making, thinking and argumentation of the key actors in the Czech security community. The research of the key decisions and historical moments after the 1989 is...
Scenarios of future EU-Britain defence cooperation

Reference BOYANOVA, Pavlina. Scenarios of Future EU-Britain Defence Cooperation. Prague, 2020. Master's thesis. Charles University, Faculty of Social Sciences, Institute of Security Studies. Abstract Brexit day may have passed, but we know too little about what form the future relationship between the EU and the UK will assume. This thesis explores several scenarios for an EU-Britain cooperation post-Brexit, focusing in particular on the partnership in defence policy. It considers defence cooperation (1) within the EU defence framework, (2) relations within the NATO framework, (3) structured cooperation outside the EU framework and the NATO framework, (4) bilateral ties between the UK and EU member states and (5) non-cooperation. The author combines analytic eclectism with a qualitative interpretative research design to evaluate each scenario against a series of theoretically-informed empirical expectations regarding governments' decisions to pursue defence jointly. It puts forward a theoretical framework that includes factors, such as strategic culture, foreign-political postures and attitudes towards European integration as potential explanations for the post- Brexit dynamics of defence cooperation. Keywords Brexit, Britain, European Union, defence, cooperation, scenarios

Svoboda, Michal ; Gřivna, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bohuslav, Lukáš (referee)
The defence by the defence counsel during the trial Abstract The aim of the thesis is not only to analyze both the position of the defence counsel and the accused in criminal proceedings, including their rights and obligations arising from this position, but in particular to define the limits in which both the accused and the defence counsel can exercise the right of defence. The content of the thesis is divided into an introduction, six chapters and a conclusion. The introduction summarizes the aims to be achieved in the thesis. It emphasizes the importance of the right to a fair trial, which includes the right of defence and which is an integral part of the rule of law concept. The first part deals with a brief historical excursion into the history of the position of the defence counsel and the accused in criminal proceedings, with particular emphasis on the legislation applicable in the territory of the present Czech Republic. In the second chapter, the rights and obligations of the accused are analyzed, especially but not only in the trial. Emphasis is placed on defining the limits of the accused's right of defence and the reasons why such restrictions exist in the legal system. The third and fourth chapters are then devoted to the defence counsel, his rights and obligations arising from his position in...
