The Comparison of the basic doctrinal Documents CČSH and ČCE
Vejvoda, Michal ; Vogel, Jiří (advisor) ; Kučera, Zdeněk (referee)
Summary: Srovnání základních věroučných dokumentů CČSH a ČCE The Comparison of the basic doctrinal Documents CČSH and ČCE Michal Vejvoda The Comparison of the basic doctrinal Documents in their broader context has lead into surprising discovery of their similarity, though with more or less important differences. Especially the doctrine of faith (rules of faith), by which ČCE (Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren ) finds their source by interpretation of the Word of God while inspired be the Holy Spirit and for CČSH (Czechoslovak Hussite Church) it is the Spirit of Christ. With a closer look at it you will find a similar concept of this rule. Another difference is a concept and approach towards the church itself, CČSH talks about God's Church as a visible, tangible human fellowship, whereas ČCE talks about an invisible God's Church, operating within concrete fellowship. Another difference, this time practical one, is a number of celebrated, (served) sacraments; nonetheless this difference is suppressed by its similarity and the approach towards them. Within CČSH is more obvious the emphasis on a church as an institution, in the Basics ČCE on their function within an environment of current world. Thus both churches are very close in their beliefs and their peculiar emphasis is rather complimentary and in...

As part of the summary of these analyses based on the topic, I summarize the main features of the preaching activities of ThDr. Karel Farský.
The Development of Funeral Practices in the Context of the Evolution of Ideological framework of the Czechoslovak(Hussite) Church.
Ferčík, Richard ; Vogel, Jiří (advisor)
Anotation This paper is aimed at describing the development of funeral practices of the Czechoslovak (Hussite) Church - CČS(H). In order to achieve better understanding of the particulars of the CČS(H) we put it the period and geographical context in which it was formed. This paper explores the period approach the society and the CČS(H) had towards cremation. It is followed by the CČS(H)'s practices and its theological and pastoral fundaments and explores also the theological grounds of the different periods and CČS(H) theologians. We base our scrutiny on the thesis that the CČS(H)'s approach towards funerals was not static and it underwent a certain evolution in terms of perceiving death and functions of funeral rituals as well as in the development of the actual form of funeral rituals, particularly with regards to the theological beliefs of the CČS(H) theologians and theological trends inside the church. We consider these dynamics particularly significant, especially with respect to the usual persistence of these approaches. We believe that this dynamic development was and is inherent to the CČS(H) and it was not directly influenced by actions of other denominations, if only with regards to the persistence of its form and content of its funeral rituals. In our opinion, the CČS(H) is very specific in this...

Zapletal, Aleš ; Vaňáč, Martin (advisor) ; Černý, Pavel (referee)
Czech Leuenberg Synod The thesis deals with the Czech Leuenberg Synod, an ecumenical assembly of denominations that signed the Leuenberg Agreement (Church of the Brethren in the Czech Republic, Czechoslovak Hussite Church, Church of Czech Brethren, Methodist Church, Silesian Church of the Augsburg Confession). The Synod was formed in 2000. The meetings of the Synod take place every other year and each denomination is represented by four delegates. The first chapter introduces the historical and theological importance of the Leuenberg Agreement as the basic document of the Synod. The second chapter deals with the first meeting in 2000, its statutes and the documents approved on this meeting. The third chapter describes the following meetings and focuses on the topic of each meeting, important documents and/or decisions of the Synod. This chapter includes also the names of the Synod presidents and vice-presidents. The fourth chapter is a reflection of the twenty years of the existence of the Synod and it introduces several suggestions for the future work. The thesis is based upon theological and historical-theological literature, church press, documents of the Czech Leuenberg Synod and consultations with the current or former representatives of the Synod. Key words (in alphabetical order): Church of...
Influence of the Separation on Financing of the Churches
Zeitham, Libor ; Vogel, Jiří (advisor) ; Vik, Dalibor (referee)
Abstarakt - English This thesis analyses current state of churches financing. Following implementation of the Act of Property Settlement with churches and religious societies, the churches receive state contribution intended for churches' service reduced by 5 per cent from the original compensation amount every year since 2016. The contribution shall be paid out till final termination in 2027. Moreover, according to the Act, churches receive financial compensation for thirty years since 2013. This thesis asks following question: Could the churches be able (after thirty years) to finance their services from the state financial compensation only which they would regularly invest during the thirty years and from which only salaries should be paid in the anticipated level of 2013 valorized since 2019 by supposed inflation. The state financial compensation is supposed to be valorized by the same inflation. The calculations resulted in finding that only the Roman-Catholic Church would prove to be succesfull under given conditions. Due to the fact that churches do not invest the whole state contribution/subsidy excluding salaries (which was the necessary pre-requisite) neither the Roman-Catholic Church would succeed. It doesn't mean that the churches will terminate their activities by that time but structure of...
Ecotheology and ecological practice in the Czechoslovak Hussite Church
Bezděk, Ondřej ; Vogel, Jiří (advisor) ; Vik, Dalibor (referee)
In my Thesis called Ecotheology and Ecological Practice in the Czechoslovak Hussite Church I tried to deal with both theoretical and practical issues regarding care for creation. First I mentioned terminology which is in Czech language, not really well grounded and terms such as ecology, care for creation, ecological theology and ecotheology can be basicly understood as interchangable. Next part was dedicated to overwiew of ecological theory and pracitice published in our church magazine called Český zápas during period 1999-2018. Surprisingly it is full of interresting material. Next part was about ecological practices of our parishes and about projects dealing with ecocertification. So far there is quite few parishes that are "green" but the situation has potential to improve. Eventually I decided to promote a new body that will deal with "green" issues in our church and might be helpful to many parishes when reaching eco certificate.
The History and Development of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church Parish in Rakovnik
Macoun, Jiří ; Veverková, Kamila (advisor) ; Lášek, Jan Blahoslav (referee)
This thesis provides a view into magnitude of influence of patriotic sentiment in the time period following World War I and its synergy with charismatic personalities of Rakovník such as Josef Kopecký and first patriarch Karel Farský that lead to creation of CČHS religious community in Rakovník. Thanks to these people, it was possible to spread the idea of a new church to neighbouring villages and to overcome the hesitance of the very first priests, who had to convert from the Catholic Church. These facts are apparent from sources relevant to this topic. Information sources presented in this thesis combined with academic literature bring forth realistic picture pertaining the given time period. Work on this thesis has provided me with large number of ideas for future material and spiritual renewal of this community. It is also important to attain a deeper understanding of our history and our roots and to make this information available to people whose ancestors formed this community. After all, more than three quarters of population of Rakovník took part in religious community in 1925. Therefore, it is fair to say that history of the religious community is that of Rakovník in this time period. It is our obligation to involve the public, namely the young, to activities of the church and to continue building...
