Feasibity study of biofuels sources
Zemach, Vít ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
Technical-economical study of biofuel cultivation is the topic of this diploma thesis. This is a study that includes the technology of growing biomass and its subsequent treatment. Part of the work is an economic and sensitivity analysis, which aims to determine the price of produced biomass. This work focuses on herbal biofuels and their comparison with other types of fuels.
Combustion of Coffee Pellets
Kurečková, Andrea ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with combustion of coffee pellets, which are made of spend coffee grounds. The work is divided into two main parts. The first part contains a research of combustion, solid fuels and energy use of spent coffee grounds. The second part is experimental and describes the combustion test. It describes the measurement procedure, the necessary calculations and evaluation.
Study of growth and optimization of selected metabolites production by Zymomonas mobilis
Lukačková, Adéla ; Vránová, Dana (referee) ; Babák, Libor (advisor)
In the diploma thesis are discussed the process of enzymatic hydrolysis of waste paper as a source for the production of bioethanol by bacteria Zymomonas mobilis. In the theoretical part summarize basic information about particular methods of hydrolysis, about paper used as a raw material for enzymatic hydrolysis, about possibilities of the fermentative production of bioethanol focusing on the method of simultaneous saccharification and fermentation comparison with enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation. Suitable microorganisms for ethanolic fermentation and simultaneous saccharification and fermentation and their advantages and disadvantages, are further discussed in this part as well. The theoretical part ends with the suggestion of the technological process for production of bioetanol. It covers all necessary steps from the input of raw material to the separation of produced ethanol. In the experimental part various parameters of hydrolysis, fermentation and simultaneous saccharification and fermentation were optimized using enzymes from Novozymes® company and the Zymomonas mobilis CCM2770 and Zymomonas mobilis LMG457 bacterium. The conversion rate of paper cellulose to gluckose and production of ethanol were observed by HPLC/RI method. Type of buffer, quantity of cells, enzyme and substrate were optimized in order to maximize the efficiency of the process. All experiments were performed on paper containing high amount of cellulose and for comparison on standard medium which contains gluckose. The highest yields was achieved with the use of Novozymes® Cellulosic ethanol enzyme Kit. The strain Zymomonas mobilis LMG457 has demonstrated as a better producer.
Alternativní paliva pro spalovací motory
Káňa, Jiří
This Bachelor Thesis on Alternative Fuels for Combustion Engines briefly discusses current and alternative fuels used in internal combustion engines. Initially, the development of the internal combustion engine is the present. It also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of fuels, their production and use, market introduction. In conclusion, it will evaluate the future use and direction of new biofuel production.

Monitoring the effect of sample treatment in determining selected properties of biofuel
Štenclová, Kristýna ; Lachman, Jakub (referee) ; Lisá, Hana (advisor)
Diploma thesis is focused on the treatment of biofuel prior to combustion and effect of this treatment on the biofuel characteristics. The first part is a review of literature encompassing characteristics of fuel, preparation of samples, methods of analysis of individual characteristics and a presentation of various types of mills. The second part of thesis is experimental. It is an analysis of sample characteristics under various mill settings with regard to the temperature in the mill during grinding.
Vliv koncentrace etanolu v palivu na parametry zážehového motoru
Švéda, Pavel
The thesis in the theoretical part deals with the isssue of alternative fuels, especially bioethanol as an essential alternative fuel for spark ignition engines. The next part of the theory describes the exhaust emissions of combustion engines and focuses on the emissions while using alcohol fuels. In the practical part there were evaluated the parameters of the combustion engine, which operated on gasoline (E0) as standard fuel and two concentrations of ethanol-gasoline blend E40 and E70. Based on the results, it was found that the increase in engine torque and effective engine power with ethanol fuels was in the range of the tenth of a percent. On the contrary, the emissions of CO, NOx and HC showed lower values. The fuel E70 did not show optimal combustion of the mixture, therefore the engine had the smallest effective efficiency. Benefits resulting from the content of the ethanol were made use of without distinct proving of the engine setting intended primarily for the gas mixture.
Combustion of Paper Pellets
Veselý, František ; Elbl, Patrik (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with combustion of pellets of wheat straw with paper sludge additive. The work is divided into two main parts. The first part deals with theory of combustion and pellets. The second part is experimental and describes combustion test and measurements.
Environmentální dopady pěstování energetických plodin
Pospíšilová, Jana
The presented thesis is written in a literary review and addresses the issue of energy crops and their impacts on the environment. Intensive field crops cultivation has an adverse effect- increase susceptibility of soils to erosion, overuse of pesticides and fertilizers, eutrophication and soil compaction. Partial objective is a description of possible remedies to these influences. The thesis describes fytomass processing technology, the characteristics of selected field crops, related legislation, including checks on compliance, whose job it is to motivate farmers to the proper use of land. Because only soil and water protection can provide the sustaiability of agriculture.
Alternative Powertrains and Fuels
Ondica, Rastislav ; Prokop, Aleš (referee) ; Dundálek, Radim (advisor)
This thesis explores different options about how to drive a vehicle, than using petrol and diesel. It discusess alternative fuels for combustion engines. It also explains hybrid and electric powertrains. It concentrates mostly on aspects such as ecology, costs, safety and the possibility of using those solutions.
