Interaction between tapeworm infection and heavy metals accumulation in the host
Magdálek, Jan ; Jankovská, Ivana (advisor) ; Ivana, Ivana (referee)
Heavy metals in living organisms occur in trace amounts. While zinc is an essential element wich is indispensable for many physiological processes, cadmium in body acts as atissue toxin, that can cause oxidative stress and contribute to cancer development. Recent studies suggest that some species of tapeworms (Cestoda) and Acantocephala are able to absorb in their tissue higher quantity of heavy metals in comparsion with their hosts. Moreover it was observed that In connection with the increased accumulation of heavy metals in the tissue of tapeworm was decreased amounts of these metals in the organs of the host. The aim of this thesis was to investigate whether the rat tapevorm (Hymenolepis diminuta) causes a decrease in the concentration of Cd and Zn in the organs of rats. A total of 24 Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) were divided into 4 groups (n=6). Groups PT and 0P take increased doses of kadmium (3,0 mg/week) and zinc (235,7 mg/week) for six weeks. This increased intake was achieved by adding Arabidopis halleri to feed. After six weeks rats were killed and concentrations in their tissues (bone, muscle, testes, spleen, intestine, liver kidney) were analyzed. Subsequent statistical tests confirmed lower levels of Cd and Zn in some organs of rats infected with tapeworm compared to rats without infection. For example in kidney, liver ant intestine of infected rats was detected 2,9; 2,5 and 1,8 times lower concentrations of cadmium and zinc in comparsion with uninfected rats. Tapeworm absorbed 1695 time higher amount of kadmium compared to the host muscle. The zinc content was lower in all organs (except spleen and testes) of infected rats in comparsion to uninfected. In kidney, liver and intestine of infected rats was 1,2; 1,25 and 1,4 times lower average concentration of zinc in comparsion with uninfected rats. The tape worm absorb higher concentration of zinc compared to all organs of the host.
Hydrogen as an energy source
Kameneva, Liubou ; Sedláček, Jan (advisor) ; Lev, Jakub (referee)
The aim of the bachelor thesis was to describe the essence of hydrogen energy, options and methods of its obtaining, the pros and cons of the main technological solutions of hydrogen energy, based on the summary of the physical and chemical hydrogen properties. Besides that, the thesis is also dedicated to an overview of the production methods, storage and transportation, and also the hydrogen usage as an energy carrier and a potential resource for future energy storage. Though retrievals of technology solutions available nowadays, as well ones seem perspective for the future, considering the economic aspects of hydrogen energy, the thesis attempts to answer the question of whether we can actually rely on hydrogen energy, as on a certain way of fulfilling energy needs of mankind in the near future.
Decentralized collection and treatment of wastewater from settlements up to 200 PE.
Petřík, Jiří ; Raček, Jakub (referee) ; Hlavínek, Petr (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to outline the issues of a decentralised system of drainage. The theoretical part of the bachelor’s thesis is processed in the form of research and focuses mainly on the possibilities of disposal of sewage and rain waters. Describes the possibility of using the treated sewage effluent, the possibility of delaying the rainwater at the place of deposition and their use. In this bachelor’s thesis is also listed technology related with this issue. In the practical part of the bachelor’s thesis deals with the proposal of the technical-economic study of a decentralised system of drainage of the municipalities Koberovice, Lísky and Lohenice, which are located in the cadastral territory of Koberovice in the district Pelhřimov.
Study of applicability of suitable materials for long-term storage of heat energy
Bukvová, Veronika ; Šot, František (referee) ; Šťastník, Stanislav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with appropriate ways of storing thermal energy and selection of materials for a high capacity storage unit. The thesis describes technologies currently used for long-term storage of thermal energy, structural arrangement of the thermal unit, physical properties of the materials usable for construction of high-temperature storage units and the utilization of these materials. The thesis also describes the measuring procedure of the material characteristics and the method of evaluation.
Accumulation of electricity for residences
Blabla, Ondřej ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the accumulation of electrical energy in the scale of small house. The theoretical part describes the various ways of storing power. The practical part is devoted to the design and comparison of electrical energy accumulation for a particular house.
Accumulation of energy in compressed air
Rešiliáno, Tomáš ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The thesis deals with the principle and issues associated with operation of the storage power stations, known under the acronym CAES (Compressed Air Energy Storage). Examples of existing and upcoming CAES power stations from commercial sphere are listed and described there. The paper also includes an overview of basic CAES station wiring diagrams and a simplified calculation is performed to compare the efficiency of the chosen diagrams. In the final part of the thesis there is a scheme of so-called adiabatic CAES designed and calculated. For this type of device has been designed suitable wiring and a thermodynamic calculation of the cycle was performed for the purpose of evaluation.
Optimization proposal of size of PV systems
Vrzal, Martin ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The master thesis deals with proposal of size optimization of PV systems. According to results of optimization, alternative solutions of photovoltaic system were proposed for family house. From the perspective of costs efficiency were compared investment costs and savings of implementation of electricity supply directly to private consumption. Particularly for each of the proposed solution, profitability assessment of comparing purchasing costs and returns on investment was performed. Theoretical part of the master thesis consists of introduction into solar radiation principles, structure and functionality of photovoltaic systems, electronics inverters and accumulation of electric energy. The practical part is focused on measuring of electricity consumption in particular family house, calculation of sunlight intensity hitting tested house, making various solutions of photovoltaic power plants placed on the family house in order to evaluate returns on investments. In conclusion are summarized all results of investigated solutions according to economics aspects.
