Motel for truck drivers in India
Navrátilová, Petra ; Šubrt, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The subject of the assignment is the design of a new motel in India that provides its participating party, mainly truck drivers, 3 different levels of rest: a quick stop for rest and refreshment, areas for sharing and eating food, areas for sleeping and longer rest, all in a cost-effective way. The parcel is located in the west of the city of Kannadi. There are no existing buildings on it and the surrounding land is used for agricultural purposes. A slip road from National Highway 544, which connects Salem in Tamil Nadu and Kochi in Kerala, will be taken to the site. The motel is located approximately in the middle of the site. Truck park is located at the back/north of the site so that the motel is clearly visible from the highway. There is car park in the front part of the site. The motel is inspired by the nalukettu house, which is typical for the region. The fundamental building block of the entire motel are two two-story blocks where the accommodation units are located. These blocks are enclosed by solid walls, protecting the rooms from noise and overheating. The heart of the house is the courtyard, to which the surrounding rooms are directed. Through this courtyard, the sun enters the rooms and they are also ventilated by it. The dining and social part is located near the road, which can also serve non-accommodating guests (bistro, store and public toilets). The glass facade supports the magnetizing attention of customers. Thanks to the trucks park in the back part of the site, a corridor was created and connects it with the front part. From the corridor there is access to secondary and storage areas, through a light-lit door. From there, guests can also reach two almost identical two-story accommodation blocks via the reception. There are cell rooms in them, including an entrance hall, sanitary facilities and two four-bed rooms. The right block include a barrier-free room on the 1st floor. The front part of the motel, which is also accessible to the public, is divided into 2 parts. The left half contains the shop and public toilets and the right bistro with service areas. Materials are selected with regard to sustainability, locality and high quality, such as thermal permeability, acoustics or fire safety. The structural system is mixed, made of brick blocks and reinforced concrete columns, reinforced concrete ceilings and a floor. The facade is pre-set wall made of recycled burnt bricks. The interiors are covered with clay plaster.

Rudolecká, Anna ; Fišer, Jiří (referee) ; Odvárka, Antonín (advisor) ; Pěnčík, Jan (advisor)

The project deals with the new multifunctional house located in the district Lisen on the plot of land p. No. 4418/1 in the cadastral territory of Brno. The plat is situated on a sloping terrain. The project takes into account solving of surrounding areas as well, particularly in front of the area and connection to the public transport infrastructure. The mass of the object consists of four large blocks. Two of them are double-storey and two are single-storey. Blocks are interconnected by a glass tunnel, set on a symbolic pedestal. The pedestal is formed from two recessed floors of underground parking. The object is four-storey with two overground floors, which are mostly commercialized in the form of lettable spaces (e. g. for business, services, administration, etc.). Another part of the floors is used for technical and hygienic facilities. Two underground floors can be used by employees and visitors for car parking. Access to these floors is provided by a car lift, personal lifts and two stairs that connect all floors. The principle of the draft consists in the intention to place the mass of the building in the environment in the most sensitive way, so that the building doesn't act heavily, such as the surrounding settlement, but naturally follows the surrounding two-storey houses. That was achieved by the material solution of the above-ground floors. Five materials prevail in the exterior. Extensive vegetative roof, face concrete, two types of fitted facades (DuPontTM Corian® facade panels + glass panels with a sign symbolizing the crowns of trees and shrubs; other types of facade are vertical metal lamellae). Another predominant material is glass, which is used for the interconnection tunnel and the north and south facade.
