Friction and lubrication of fascia

The diploma thesis was part of the project "Regeneration and lubrication of fascia with hyaluronan" of the company Contipro a.s., whose main goal is the development of an injectable medicinal product. The number of patients suffering from so-called myofascial lower back pain is increasing. The cause of the pain is increased hyaluronic acid, which is produced between the layers of the fascia. If the viscosity is low, the fascia layers are not affected and the coefficient of friction is low. The purpose of the product is to improve the sliding movement of the fascia and relieve patients of pain. The main component of the medicine is hyaluronic acid. The project included rheological and tribological analysis of hyaluronic acid samples. A tribological model of fascia in a pin-on-plate configuration was created for the analysis of the coefficient of friction. Based on the fascia models used, the dependence between the coefficient of friction and viscosity of native hyaluronic acid solutions was found. For models and real fascias, the native solution (Bonharen) was found to have better friction properties than hyaluronic acid derivatives. These analyzes have contributed not only to the development of the drug, but also to the emergence of other studies that would like to address the biotribology of fascia.

Title: Function and mechanics of fascias focused to shoulder girdle Objectives: The main subject of the diploma thesis is the issue of fascial concatenation. The aim of the diploma thesis is a systematic study findings related to the selected issue and introduce concepts, that deal with the fascial concatenation. For a specific example of fascial concatenation was chosen from a practical standpoint shoulder girdle in relation to the entire upper limb. Methods: The thesis methodologically equivalent to a theoretical type of work - job search. Results: By processing the literature sources was created a comprehensive overview that relates to the topic of fascial concatenation. Attention was focused on the arrangement of fascial tissue, not only in terms of stratification, but also due to its layout. One of the chapters was focused on mechanical functions and models explaining changes in fascial tissue behavior during therapy. The thesis presented three general concepts dealing with fascial concatenation whose specific strings were introduced in the shoulder girdle in relation to the entire upper limb. Title: Manual techniques based on the theory of fascial chains Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to summerize academic findings and information about anatomy, histology, neurophysiology and biomechanical properties of fascial tissue from the latest research and studies in the theoretical part. Analytical and descriptive part is firstly focused on principles of tissue remodeling, mechanism of myofascial therapy effects and on diagnostic methods which are available for evaluation of structure, properties and function of fascia. The main goal is to describe and compare different diagnostic and therapeutic approaches of most known authors based on various theories of fascial chains. Another important purpose of this work is to demonstrate the objective effect of particular fascial techniques and manual therapies. Methods: This thesis is theoretical work with the purpose of summerizing, organizing and analyzing relevant studies related to the topic through the literary research in available academic databases. Monika Tichá Title: Use of selected concepts for active release of myofascial tissue Abstract: The theoretical part of the work first describes the morphology and physiology of fascial tissue, briefly describes the muscle tissue. Furthermore there are introduced and desribed selected concepts affecting myofascial tissues of the musculoskeletal system, which use the active participation of the patient in therapy. The theoretical part of the work includes the concept of Fascial release technique, the concept of Fascial fitness and methods of myofascial autotherapy. The practical part of the bachelor thesis evaluates the concept of Fascial release technique during physiotherapeutic intervention in two patients with pain in the dorsal part of the lower limbs of functional origin. The concept of Fascial release technique was evaluated according to the data from the input and output kinesiological analysis of the treated patients, subjectively evaluated by the patients through questionnaires and from the perspective of the therapist. Silvie Táborská Title: The usage of visceral manipulation on the patients with vertebrogenic disorders Abstract: This bachelor thesis will be focusing on the osteopathic method of visceral manipulation, specifically its usage on the patients with vertebrogenic problems. The vertebrogenic problems are the second most common causes of a doctor's visit. However, determining the cause and source of the problem is not always easy and the patient is often referred for an examination and treatment to the various specialists, unfortunately mostly without any effects. Visceral manipulation looks at with the vertebrogenic disorders in the context of viscerovertebral relations and in therapy it focuses mainly on the organ system. The knowledge which the VM offers could thus be a way of treating these problems. This thesis is divided into the theoretical part and the practical part. Jindřiška Hálková Title: Overview of physiotherapeutic approaches in influencing fascia Abstract: In the theoretical part of the thesis is first described the fascia including: definition, embryology, histology, pathology and its connection with the management of postural stability. Physiotherapeutic approaches used to influence fascias are presented and briefly described. The practical part of the thesis deals with the influence of postural stability in three patients with central hemiparesis after the therapeutic influence of the fascial system by the Fascial Manipulation® method. For objective evaluation of the effect of therapy on postural stability, I used the Physiosensing platform from ©Sensing Future Technologies. As an additional monitored parameter, I chose the active range of motion (hereinafter referred to as aROM). Out of three patients, two experienced short-term improvements in the postural stability and aROM parameters while the third experienced long-term improvements. Effect of foam roller application on muscle tone after physical load

Title: The effect of foam roller on muscle tone after physical load Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to summarize theoretical knowledge about muscle, changes in muscle tension and possibilities of its affect. The aim of the practical part was to find out the effect of the foam roller on muscle tone after exercise. Methods: Practical part of this thesis was processed in biomechanical laboratory at FTVS UK in Prague and included 16 probands. We measured muscle tone of biceps brachii, m. triceps surae and m. quadriceps femoris before exercise, then the probands performed an activity aimed at increasing the muscular tension of the musculature mentioned above, after which we measured the muscle tension again. The foam rolling of each muscle group lasted for 60 seconds and then we measured the muscle tone for the last time. A myotonometer device was used and the data were transmitted by KISTLER MULTICHANNEL CHARGE AMPLIFIER and processed by the DeweSoftX3 (64 bit) programme in SIRIUS DEWEsoft S-BOX2 computer. At the end, we compared measured values with subjective sensations of the probands who filled quick questionnaire.
