Home birth from a women's point of view
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Kristýna
This bachelor's thesis deals with the view of women on births in the home environment and their own experiences with home births. The theoretical part characterizes the issue of home births by their advantages, disadvantages, complications, and most importantly, the role of the midwife during birth and in the period after birth in the home environment. Additionally, the thesis explains the legislative framework for home births in the legislative Czech Republic. The practical part of the bachelor thesis defines two goals. The first one was to find out what are the most common reasons for women's choice to give birth at home and the second goal was to find out how women prepared for this birth. The research investigation was carried out by qualitative research method. Moreover, the practical part of the bachelor's thesis uses qualitative research using semi-structured interviews with women who had at least one planned birth at home. The participants were obtained using the snowball sampling method. The interviews with the informants took place during February and March 2024. The interviews were recorded on a dictaphone, transcribed, and then analysed using the pencil and paper method. In total, 3 main categories and 15 subcategories were created. The research shows that several reasons influenced the decision of the informants to give birth at home. Those were mainly personal negative experiences of the informants with medical personnel, incorrect approach, and communication. Others mistrusted doctors or medical professionals. The informants also mentioned the importance of preserving the naturalness of childbirth without unnecessary interventions and respecting their wishes. It is also evident from the research that women did not prepare for childbirth any more than for childbirth in a maternity hospital. A large part of the informants prepared mainly by self-study about childbirth, and they searched for information on natural birth in professional literature and on the Internet. For almost all informants, it was essential to secure a community midwife. The informants also stated that during pregnancy, they visited their midwife for regular check-ups and consulted with her about their childbirth visions. The bachelor's thesis could be a practical resource for both the lay and the professional public, and the results could be presented at conferences for midwives.
Using Sensor Data to Derive Environment State
Sakin, Martin ; Korček, Pavol (referee) ; Viktorin, Jan (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the analysis, description and usage of sensor data from an intelligent home system. This term also describes the intelligent system BeeeOn, which provides a sensor data and the possibility of extending this system to automation tasks. This is followed by the analysis of all the measured physical quantities, their properties and their influence on humans. The results from the measured data were used to create a classifier based on deep neural networks to detect current events at home. Detected events can be used for the following automation system to help improve living conditions. At the end of this thesis are discussed the results and options to continue with this project.

Fabriková, Anna ; Novotná, Klára (advisor) ; Rodová, Zuzana (referee)
BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Name, Surname: Anna Fabriková Supervisor: Mgr. Klára Novotná, Ph.D. Consultant: Mgr. Eliška Rotbartová Title: The Independency Training in Person with Multiple Sclerosis in Home Environment Abstract: This theoretical and practical bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of occupational therapy for increasing or maintaining self-sufficiency in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) with higher degree of neurological disability (i.e., patients with EDSS>7). The MS disease, issues of self-sufficiency, palliative care, and some options for social benefits, are described in the theoretical part. The practical part includes 3 case reports of patients of the Centre for Demyelinating Diseases of the Neurological Clinic of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University in Prague. All patients completed 6 individual occupational therapy sessions in their home environment. The therapy effect was evaluated by the Barthel Index, modified Frenchay scale and by the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM). Key words: multiple sclerosis, occupational therapy, rehabilitation, independency, activities of daily living, home environment
Providing specialized palliative nursing care in the home environment
ZIMOLOVÁ, Linda
This bachelor's thesis is focused on specialized palliative nursing care and deals with providing palliative nursing care to patients at home environment. It focuses on the specifics of care and the needs of the patients, including the needs of their families. The goal of the research was to find out what the most common activities nurses conduct when providing palliative nursing care. Other goals of this work were to search for the possibilities of developing specialized palliative nursing care from the viewpoint of nurses and to find out what obstacles nurses encounter when providing specialized home palliative nursing care. Last but not least, this thesis shows the coordination of a multidisciplinary team providing specialized palliative care in the home environment. Methodology and research sample selection: To meet the goals, data were collected through a semi-structured interview with nurses who provide specialized palliative care in mobile hospices. The research group consisted of a total of eight nurses. Data were analyzed using an open coding, pencil-and-paper method. Data analysis resulted in 5 categories and 9 subcategories. Results: From the results of the research investigation, show that a nurse providing specialized palliative care in the home environment ensures the role of a nursing care provider, educator, manager and change agent. She is one of the most important multidisciplinary team members and also the main person between the doctor and the client. Furthermore, it was found that despite the great physical and psychological demands of this profession, none of the nurses subjectively felt signs of burnout. We found that despite the profession's many physical and psychological demands, no nurse experiences burnout syndrome. Nurses see the development of specialized palliative care in the amendment of legislation, education of society, especially in general practitioner offices, and in better cooperation with insurance companies. Results for practice: The results can serve as study material for students and female students of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia, and the information can be useful in making decisions and choosing a career in home care.
Physiotherapy of patients after a stroke in the home environment
NOVÁKOVÁ, Šárka
The bachelor thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a review study. The theoretical part is described in three chapters. The first chapter of the theoretical part deals with stroke. It also describes epidemiology, pathogenesis, risk factors, clinical picture, diagnostics and treatment of stroke. It also dedicated to the consequences and prevention of stroke. The second chapter is devoted to coordinated rehabilitation, which is crucial in the care of stroke patients. This chapter further describes the multidisciplinary team and its work, institutions providing physiotherapy, patient care and medical rehabilitation of stroke patients, and physiotherapy methods used in the treatment of stroke survivors. The third chapter of the theoretical part describes the return of patients to their home environment and includes a sub-chapter where set of recommendations for patients and their families is made. For the review study, 20 researches were selected and result tables were created from them. In these tables it is possible to find a description of the physiotherapy techniques used in studies, the members of the multidisciplinary team in the home environment, the characteristics of the research group, the frequency of physiotherapy and a note containing the topic of the article.
Risks of Social Exclusion of Seniors Living in Home Enviroment
HŮLKOVÁ, Veronika
The bachelor thesis deals with the risks of social exclusion of seniors living in the home environment. The aim of the thesis is to find out the risks of social exclusion among seniors living separately and to identify reasons which lead seniors living in the home environment to the disuse of social services. This work is divided into two parts - the theoretical one and the empiric one. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of principal terms concerning the bachelor thesis. In the empirical part, there are stated two exploratory questions concerning the risks of social exclusion of seniors living in the home environment and the reasons which lead seniors living in the home environment to the disuse of social services. For obtaining the answers to the highlighted exploratory questions were used several methods, such as a qualitative investigative strategy, interviewing, and a technic of a semistructured interview. The investigative sample was formed by six informants, which were chosen in a combination of two methods of selection - the snowball method and quota sampling. Physical health, as one of the many risks, can lead to the social exclusion of seniors living in the home environment. The results further point to limited financial means, reduced self-sufficiency, and reduced social interactions. For example, low foreknowledge about social services, their negotiation and financial valuation, self-sufficiency, assurance of proceeding care and disposal of the sphere of close people can be seen as possible reasons that lead to the disuse of social services. The results may be beneficial for increasing awareness of the public about risks that lead to social exclusion. Further, they could serve as feedback to organisations providing social services to increase the foreknowledge about the services they provide.
Social Exclusion as a Determinant of Health in the Old age
BASTLOVÁ, Lucie
The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to find out in which areas (social relations, health status, civic amenities, financial situation, housing, etc.) seniors over the age of 65 who live in the home environment face social exclusion. In the theoretical part, I defined the basic concepts related to the topic of the bachelor's thesis, which I divided into three parts. In the first part, I dealt with the health factors of social exclusion. In the next part I dealt with the psychological factors of social exclusion and in the third part I dealt with the social factors of social exclusion. In the practical part, research questions concerning the causes of social exclusion in seniors over 65 years of age living at home and activities that lead to the elimination of social exclusion in seniors over 65 years of age living at home were set. A qualitative research strategy was chosen for the research, a method of questioning with the technique of semi-structured interview. The research group was selected using a technique called "Snowball" and consisted of seven seniors who lived in their own households in the district of Tábor. The research revealed a link between health status and social exclusion, due to an unfavorable health condition. The results of qualitative research will serve as information material for the elderly population, which is particularly affected, but also for social workers and the general public.
