Improvement of turbocharger inlet manifold parameters
Kula, Štěpán ; Vacula, Jiří (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the design of a new elbow geometry to reduce the pressure drop in the inlet suction pipe of a turbocharger compressor. At the beginning of the thesis there is a description of the fluid flow and hydraulics losses that result in pressure loss in the pipe. Next, possible methods by which the shape of the piping can be optimized are described. The last, main section deals with the actual optimization of the elbow using the manual method and the Adaptive Single-Objective method, which succeeded in reducing the pressure losses and improving the outlet flow profile.
Design of a heat exchangers for cooling process gas
Janoušek, Petr ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Toman, Filip (advisor)
Heat exchangers are one of the most used devices in the energy industry. This thesis deals with the overall design of heat exchangers according to the required parameters. Its aim is to perform thermal and hydraulic calculation of two different heat exchangers designed for process gas cooling and compare their resulting design. Specifically, the thesis designs shell and tube heat exchangers, where the first one is an exchanger with straight tube and the second one is an exchanger with U-tubes. The first and second chapters are theoretical sections dealing first with the general issue of heat exchangers and then specifically with shell and tube heat exchangers. The complete design of the straight tube heat exchanger is carried out in chapter three, where its modelled form is also presented. The following chapter deals with the design of the second U-tube exchanger. The final chapter copes with the evaluation and comparison of both types.
Heat exchanger design
Skalický, Vojtěch ; Lachman, Jakub (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the design of a heat exchanger for water – air media. In the first part, the principle of the heat exchangers function and the basic division of heat exchangers are mentioned. Subsequently, an overview of frequently used heat exchangers working with liquid – gas media is presented. Design variants, types of ribbing used and operating conditions are discussed. Design variants, fin types used and operating conditions are discussed. In the second part, the design of the exchanger itself, which includes the choice of geometric dimensions and thermal and hydraulic calculation of the exchanger, is already processed. At the end of the thesis, the obtained results are evaluated. The work also includes the basic drawing documentation of the designed heat exchanger.
Modern technological elements for tubular heat exchangers
Plánková, Tereza ; Babička Fialová, Dominika (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to get acquainted with modern technological elements currently used in shell-and-tube heat exchanger in the shell-side and tube-side, thermal-hydraulic calculation of selected elements and comparison of thermal-hydraulic properties with classically used competing technological elements. The work deals mainly with EM baffle in the tube-side and tube inserts like the twisted tape type (and its modifications) and coiled wire in the tube-side. The theoretical part is focused on acquaintance with classical technological elements in shell-and-tube heat exchanger and with basic thermal-hydraulic calculations, practical part then on acquaintance with modern elements and thermal-hydraulic calculation of selected elements. These calculations are then compared with the results of the thermo-hydraulic calculation of similar elements.
Air conditioning in the library
Pospíšilová, Lucie ; Uher, Pavel (referee) ; Blasinski, Petr (advisor)
Dissertation offers a plan for air – conditioning equipment of library building in Brno and it involves air filter experimental measurement. The proposal is divided into three parts. The first part explains air filter theory with detailed description of atmospheric air filters for separation of particles for general ventilation - filter parameter determination. Theory part ends specifically with pocket air filters and their construction. The second part focuses on experimental pocket air filter measurement execution, which calculates with variable filter cartridges and pocket count. Measurement also evaluates pressure drop and their efficiency. The last part of the dissertation looks at air – conditioning equipment design for specified building, concretely library building. The project solves fresh air traffic into interior of selected library rooms and it counts with thermal heat gain in summer season, heat loss in winter season and air humidity modification.
Influenc of Instability to Critical Heat Flux
Khůlová, Jitka ; Vojáčková, Jitka (referee) ; Suk, Ladislav (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis is elaborating about two-phase flow in the heated channel. It describes flow instabilities and their influence to critical heat flux. The calculation methods of two-phase flow are introduced. The homogeneous equilibrium method is selected for the practical part. The results are evaluated and possible solution to prevent flow instabilities is suggested.
Sludge Pumping on WWTP
Fadrný, Tomáš ; Medek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Boráň, Jaroslav (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the best solution design for a sludge fitting, especially focusing on the right choice of pumps for the waste water treatment plant in Prostějov. The pumps were selected for a circulation pipeline, which heats up the sludge. Several measurements were carried out in order to determine the statistical evaluation of the properties of the pumped medium. The figures gained were used to calculate pressure losses. The diploma thesis is divided into two parts. The first part provides a theoretical analysis of the problem and the second part presents the results and subsequently the reasoning for the new selection of pumps in order to change the WWTP technology from the mesophilic to the thermophilic sludge digestion. The test records describing the testing of the individual samples of the pumped sludge are attached.
Pressure losses in heating systems
Švanda, Martin ; Horká, Lucie (referee) ; Počinková, Marcela (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with pressure losses in heating systems. The diploma thesis is divided into three sections. The first part is theoretical and deals with the occurrence of pressure losses. It discusses the properties of the fluid that affect pressure losses. It also deals with hydrodynamic phenomena, flow distribution, pressure loss distribution and its calculations. The aim of the second part, which is practical, was to create a heating project for a selected object. The object is a two-floor kindergarten building located in Velké Němčice. For this project, two heating variants were created. For the first variant, radiators and heating benches were designed and for the second variant, underfloor heating was installed in the building. The goal was to use a source which will gain heat mainly from renewable sources, so the air / water heat pump was chosen as the source of heat production. The project ends with a technical report. The third part of the thesis is dedicated to an experiment which purpose was to find out how the pressure losses of the connecting pieces are reacting to the change with the change of the heating water conditions (flow, temperature). Alongside, two pipes were created which differed in the type of connecting pieces so it allowed to compare how their pressure losses differ. Both pipes were connected by radial pressing, but the fittings differed in the quality of the brass, and therefore in the construction. Also, part of the experimental section of the diploma thesis is a description of the course of radial pressing of fittings from the Herz company.
Aerodynamic calculation of flue gas part of steam boiler
Faltýnek, Michal ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to introduce the reader into theory, which is needed to make an aerodynamic calculation of flue gas part of steam boiler. On the back of the knowledge, project documentation and other entry parameters calculate sectional losses for each component and design a ventilator, that is suitable for our requirements.
