Genre preferences of pupils according to gender

The thesis deals with the genre preferences of pupils according to gender. In terms of form, it is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the characteristics of pupils of younger school age about the topic of the thesis, reader, and reading. The theoretical part is also devoted to genres of children's literature, contemporary children's literature, and its appreciation. Finally, the theoretical section focuses on research on reading, including gender, genre preferences, and socioeconomic status. The research part of the thesis contains a description of action research conducted in classes 2 to 5 in two primary schools to determine students' genre preferences I used stimulating activities, which included book dominoes or also sharing reading records observations and a questionnaire survey on reading to investigate pupils' genre preferences. The research shows that the most preferred genre is prose with a child protagonist. This genre would be followed by adventure books, encyclopedias, and books about science. Love books and travelogues emerged were the least popular genres. Gender preferences were only reflected for several genres. Mediating the topic of specific learning and behavior disorders through literature for younger school-aged children

The thesis deals with the issue of conveying the topic of specific learning and behavioural disorders to pupils at school through literature for children of younger school age. It deals with the description of specific learning and behavioural disorders, especially in relation to the school environment, and the characteristics of selected titles of contemporary literature for children and young people, focused on the topic of specific learning and behavioural disorders. The aim of this paper is to design lessons with books that would introduce students to these topics, to carry out the implementation of these lessons in a selected second year primary school and to evaluate their impact on students' understanding of the subject. All lessons are based on the three-phase model of learning and the methods RWCT recommended for working with books. According to the timetable, the lessons are taught in five weeks. The theoretical part analyzes the war in a broader context (characteristics, wars of the 20th century, war literature), a selection of contemporary war literature for children and youth, suitable teaching methods for working with literary texts and developmental specifics of school-age children. The practical part contains a set of methodical sheets from the chosen books, containing their verification in practice, including reflection.
Comics and its use in literary education in leisure time

The diploma thesis deals with the topic of comics and its use in literary education in youth leisure time. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part presents various views of the authors on the topic of comics, maps its specifics and history. It also presents the results of researchs into Czech reading and the inclusion of comics in to context, including the presentation of several specific comics books. The practical part consists of a project of a leisure literary club. Within the club project, methods of working with comics to develop leisure reading are presented and verified in practice.
Secondary school pupils' interpretation of the text Šťastná babyka by Daisy Mrázková

The diploma thesis follows up the interpretation of a selected work of literature for children and youth by pupils of the secondary school. This thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and empirical. The aim of the theoretical part is to anchor the concept of interpretation in the school environment based on the concept of reading literacy. The starting point for the second, empirical part of the work is the analysis of curricular documents anchoring the concept of interpretation (RVP ZV) in relation to the planned lesson, during which the research is carried out. The empirical part is conceived as a qualitative research that will answer specific research questions, including the interpretation of the main characters, the sound of the text and the naming of impressions from reading. The aim of the research is to cover and describe possible interpretations of the text Šťastná babyka by Daisy Mrázková from the point of view of the pupils of the secondary school. The research sample consists of eighteen pupils in the eighth grade of seondary school with extended language teaching. There are ten boys in the research sample, two of them with different mother language, and eight girls.
