War as a Biosocial Theme in the Works of Edvard Beneš and Bohumil Němec

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem Válka jako biosociální téma v některých dílech Edvarda Beneše a Bohumila Němce a sleduje v období První republiky politické biologismy v politických otázkách s obzvláštním důrazem na dílo dvou významných osobností československé veřejné i odborné sféry, Edvarda Beneše a Bohumila Němce. Od počátku 19. století se v návaznosti na Darwinovu evoluční teorii a její společenské aplikace (eugenika, rasová hygiena, "sociální biologie") začíná rozvíjet i tzv. biologie války neboli aplikace biologických principů na pojetí lidské války, k níž se oba zmínění autoři ve svých pracích vyjadřovali. Tato bakalářská práce představuje rozbor dvou jejich děl, vztahujících se k danému tématu, a pokus o jejich zasazení do širšího kontextu, jak z hlediska kulturně historického, tak z hlediska interní logiky darwinistických a jiných biosociálních teorií. Edvard Beneš a Bohumil Němec, dvě významné osoby československé odborné i veřejné sféry, politicky, intelektuálně a vědecky významní představitelé První republiky. Ve svých vědeckých, filozofických a politických názorech se hluboce rozcházeli a v roce 1935 proti sobě dokonce stáli jako protikandidáti v prezidentských volbách. Risk behavior of high school students.

The bachelor thesis is focused on risk behaviour of secondary school students. The origins and consequences of this behaviour may vary and we may come across it more and more often. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part is focused on literature dealing with this issue and also studying current researches. The practical part is my own research. The aim of this part was to establish whether the type of school, grammar school or vocational school, would affect the measure and variation of risk behaviour of secondary school students. Data collection in a form of a questionnaire was used in both types of the schools. As a result of the research, it became clear that there is no significant difference in risk behaviour at either of the schools.

Use-wear Analysis of Bone Industry: Experiment and Analysis of Bone Ice Skates

For a long time, research of bone industry in archeology was disorganized and mostly limited for classification according to the tools' shape, from which the function was deduced. This method was frequently imprecise and complicated for bone artifacts as well as for chipped stone artifacts. In the last few decades, scientists have tried to apply to the bone industry microwear analysis, which was then successfully applied to the chipped industry. Microwear analysis can help us recognize usewear traces and give information about the manufacturing and functioning of the tools. Using microscopes can prove which artifacts were manufactured by humans and which were simply broken in order to get marrow, and which were bitten by predators. The goal of this research is to expose the functions of tools and artifacts, which are previously unclear, by use of experimental archeology and use-wear analysis, primarily for artefacts known as bone skates (or bone ice skates), which are classified only according to their shape (and often incorrectly). "Domesticating" the Scientific-Technological Revolution in Czechoslovakia: Inovation in the Czech Kitchen and Alimentation in the 1950s and 1960s

The aim of the thesis is the analysis of "domestication" of the scientific-technical revolution and the most important alimentary behavior of Czech society in the 1950' and 1960' of the 20th century. In the thesis is this process interpreted in the context of the change of the regime and of the ideological patterns in the mid- 1950', which should help to overcome the difficulties of the Stalinist utopianism - increased emphasis on quality of lifestyle, housing development, architecture and design, modernization of kitchen equipment and the transformation of ideas about desirable social standards and their importance to legitimize post-Stalinist organization. More specifically, in the context of "domestication" of the scientific-technical revolution, I deal with topics such as the rationalization and mechanization of houseworks, emphasis on hygiene and nutrition, quality of food storage and preparation, the transformation of food composition, the "discovery" of vitamins and enzymes, minerals and etc., haunches on consumerism, developing doctrines of household management, image of woman and her place in the household and other topics. Double life of Sennefer from Deir el-Medina

Tato bakalářská práce představuje přehledné shrnutí dostupných informací o životě a pohřbu starověkého obyvatele řemeslnické vesnice v Dér el-Medíně, Sennefera a jeho předpokládané rodiny. Ostatky Sennefera, jeho manželky a společného potomka byly objeveny v roce 1928 expedicí Francouzského ústavu orientálního archeologie v Káhiře pod vedením francouzského egyptologa Bernarda Bruyèra. Členem výzkumného týmu IFAO byl také český egyptolog Jaroslav Černý. Jeho iniciativou získalo Národní muzeum v Praze v roce 1937 cennou sbírku archeologických nálezů pocházejících z Dér el-Medíny. Součástí sbírky byly rovněž kosterní a mumifikované lidské ostatky, které putovaly do Hrdličkova muzea člověka v Praze, a mezi nimiž se nacházejí také ostatky Senneferovy rodiny. V této bakalářské práci budu sledovat oba životy Sennefera, přičemž první z nich se odehrál v řemeslnické vesnici Dér el-Medína v období staroegyptské Nové říše, druhý začal objevením jeho hrobky. Reception of darwinism in Bohemia between 1859 and 1918

In this B.A. thesis I focus closer on the conditions of the reception of Darwinism in Bohemia in the period between 1859 and 1918. My research deals with the basic mapping and evaluation of the process of acceptance of Darwinism in Czech society, both in public discourse and in more specialized discourse of academic society and in the field of theology. In terms of the professional and scientific discourse I examine the questions of when, through which channels, and in what forms the works of Charles Darwin got into Czech general public; and how people accepted and reflected them. I also examine the responses on Darwin's theories which appeared in contemporary press and literature. I assumed that attitude of particular social groups toward Darwin and his theory was different. Distinct viewpoints took naturalists and scientists and public administration and the Catholic Church. And somewhere between these two different viewpoints occurred the general public. In the thesis I have analysed the process of the reception of Darwinism in Bohemia in the mentioned period and arrived to conclusions that this process did not take place accordingly in all three monitored discourses - public, academic and theological.
