Demand for gas: Evidence from the 2022 energy crisis
Stuchlík, Jan ; Pertold-Gebicka, Barbara (advisor) ; Opatrný, Matěj (referee)
This thesis analyzes the effects of the 2022 energy crisis on changes in consump- tion patterns among Czech households, with the main focus on natural gas and other energy sources. We captured the effects using income and cross-price elas- ticity of expenditure shares of various goods. We calculated these elasticities from estimated parameters of a quadratic almost ideal demand system. The system parameters were estimated using the iterated feasible generalized non- linear least squares method on household-level data collected by PAQ Research. Demand for gas is income-elastic during the energy crisis, contrasting with other energy sources. Households made significant adjustments to their consumption of luxury goods and necessities in response to the high energy prices. The cross- price elasticity estimates show a decrease in expenditure shares of luxury goods and distant heat in relation to higher gas prices. Reduced healthcare and trans- port expenditure shares and increased solid fuels expenditure shares are related to higher electricity prices. In response to rising prices of necessities, households generally decrease expenditure shares of luxury goods. Households' reactions to the energy crisis are heterogeneous among socio-economic groups.

Different Social and Economic Strategies Taken in Spring 2020 in Response to the Covid-19 Pandemic and Their Medium-term Economic Consequences across the EU Countries
Stuchlík, Jan ; Pertold-Gebicka, Barbara (advisor) ; Pintera, Jan (referee)
This thesis describes measures taken by the EU countries during spring 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and explains the effects of these measures on unemployment and economic growth using panel data regression analysis. We compare different approaches of the countries. Most of the restrictions caused unemployment to increase and economic growth to decrease. The effects on unemployment were often delayed for up to three months. Bans on in- door events, stay-at-home recommendations and closures of non-essential shops had the largest negative effects on employment in the EU. Closures of primary schools, closures of accommodation facilities and bans on indoor events had the biggest negative effects on GDP growth. The changes in economic growth were not directly proportional to the number of people infected by COVID-19. Countries that imposed wide restrictions were not proven to suffer from larger economic losses than countries introducing less strict interventions. 1
Media image of Notre Dame Cathedral fire in the Czech press
Stuchlík, Jan ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Zunová, Anna (referee)
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the media image of the fire of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, which broke out on Monday, April 15, 2019 and lasted until the morning of the next day. The cause of the fire of the building, which celebrated 850 years since its creation and which was made famous by a novel by the French writer Victor Hugo, is still debated. The most probable cause is a short circuit in the circuit of the electrified bell located in the sanctuary tower, from which the fire spread to the rest of the roof. The final form of the future reconstructed cathedral is still not agreed, but French President Macron promised a final repair within 5 years. The aforementioned Paris fire brought with it a wave of media interest among the world and Czech media. This topic was relevant both to print and online media, as well as to television broadcasting and social networks. Most information about the fire of Notre Dame Cathedral resonated with social networks, while the smallest number of mentions was in television news. I came to my findings on the basis of a quantitative content analysis of selected media in my chosen period from April 15 to May 31, 2019, for which I used the Maximus application. I processed my findings into graphs, in which the data are clearer.
Volunteering and motivation of volunteers for cooperation with people with long-term mental illness (in some organisations in Prague)
Šimková, Romana ; Probstová, Václava (advisor) ; Stuchlík, Jan (referee)
The volunteering is an indespensable phenomenon not just worldwide but also in the Czech Republic, especially in recent years. It has lost its negative reputation acquired in the socialist era and it is continously getting more respect and credit in the eyes of society. It is not just the youth or students, who decide to dedicate their time to the others. The volunteering is effectuated in many areas, the projects focus on different problems or support various target groups. This thesis treats of volunteering in the area of mental health support and presents organisations, which help clients with long-term mental illness and which cooperate with volunteers. Who are the people who volunteer in this area and what is their motivation to work with clients? Because of the fact that the projects are mostly unique, it is interesting to find out, how the organisations recruit the volunteers and what the main motivation reasons for volunteers are. The target of this survey, on which volunteers of 3 different organisations participated, was to find out what reasons for volunteering they had, what encouraged them and what support they expected from the volunteering program of the organisation. Key words: volunteering, volunteer, people with long-term mental illness, motivation of volunteers
Contacts and communications at the turn of early and middle bronze age. The hilltop fortified site at Bánov near Uherský Brod
Chmela, Tomáš ; Stuchlík, Jan (referee) ; Bláhová, Zuzana (advisor)
The goal of this work is to provide a new focus on the hilltop fortified settlement in Bánov, near Uherský Brod (eastern part of the Czech republic). On the ground of the research in 1948 we present the material culture and confirm the dating of the location typicaly into classical phase of Maďarovce-Věteřov culture. Besides the typological-chronological analysis of ceramics was also characterized pottery technology. The whole work is based on interdisciplinary approach towards material culture. Thanks to this we could focus on archaeological contact studies. We conducted micropetrographical analysis of wide amount of ceramical artefacts. From the provenance research point of view we provided following: determinded the ceramics made Banov settlement (heavy clay ware and fine ware); proved local production of some vessels of "foreign style". Based on the detailed analysis of imported ceramic material, we provided a model hypothesis about the existance of two basic interaction levels, in which was fortified settlement in Banov naturally engaged. We mean the economical contacts (represented by exchange of goods) and social contacts (represented by gift exchange).
