Low carbohydrate regimes (low carb diet, the cyclical ketogenic diet, intermittent fasting) and their impact on cardiorespiratory fitness, body composition, muscular strength, sports performance and muscle cells resistance against exercise
Kysel, Pavel ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Otáhal, Jakub (referee) ; Stackeová, Daniela (referee)
(EN) Low-carbohydrate diets are a debated topic in relation to athletic performance, overweight and obesity, but also to the health status of the individual. The impact on health and fitness is still ambiguous. The aim of this study was to compare and investigate the effect of a low carbohydrate, in this case ketogenic, diet on body composition, sports performance at different exercise loads and levels of selected circulating cytokines. Our study aimed to investigate the effects of a cyclic ketogenic reduction diet (CKD) vs. a nutritionally balanced reduction diet (RD) combined with regular resistance/aerobic training in healthy young men for 8 weeks. Participants in both the CKD and RD groups reduced their body weight, body fat, and body mass index (BMI) values. In the CKD group, the amount of fat-free mass (net body weight) and the amount of water in the body decreased. In the RD group, however, the volume of these parameters did not change significantly. Muscle strength parameters were not affected in the CKD group, while maximal strength performances in chest pulldown and lower limb press increased in the RD group. Similarly, endurance performances were not affected in the CKD group, whereas maximal power output and maximal oxygen consumption increased in the RD group. Our findings suggest that...
Psychosomatic approach in physiotherapy in postcovide syndrome
Bezecný, Vít ; Stackeová, Daniela (advisor) ; Oplatková, Lenka (referee)
The thesis deals with the physiotherapeutic view of the post-covid syndrome and the psychosomatic approach to it. It is based on theoretical studies dealing with the connection between the psychological and somatic aspects of this disease and the extent of its influence on the patient's psychological and physical condition. On the basis of diagnostic tests of postural and respiratory functions, a 6-minute walk test and structured questionnaires (PHQ-9, PHQ-15, CAT and FAS) investigating the subjective feelings of the patient, such as experiencing illness, stress, fear and depression, it establishes possible physiotherapeutic interventions for the treatment of patients with post-covid syndrome. The work in the practical part presents a detailed proposal for a rehabilitation plan for patients with post-covid syndrome, based on the correction of the postural system, physiotherapy using the respiratory and postural functions of the diaphragm, respiratory physiotherapy and overall improvement of physical condition. Its effect is presented in the form of two case studies. Standardized questionnaires show an improvement in the physical and psychological condition of both patients. The results also show that in both cases there was an increase in breathing amplitude, up to 5 cm. The positive impact of the...
The impact of an emotional state on respiratory functions and configuration of the thoracic cage in patients with major depressive disorder, options of physical therapy interventions
Bárdoš, Markéta ; Stackeová, Daniela (advisor) ; Janečková, Alexandra (referee)
This thesis looks at the influence of emotional state on chest development and configuration, lung functions and presents possible physiotherapeutic interventions in patients with depressive syndrome. In theoretical part, the thesis focuses on the issue of depressive syndrome, outlining the topic of psychosomatics and the relationships between psychological state and physical symptoms. The theoretical part also includes a presentation of the possibilities of physiotherapeutic methods, which can be used to improve respiratory and postural function. The main aim of this work was to determine the psychological state of patients both before and after individual therapies and to see if there would be improvement in the condition as well as improvement in the parameters of respiratory and postural activity due to performed physiotherapeutic methods. Within the secondary objective, potential correlations between these parameters and psychological state were described and the effect of physiotherapy on improvement of all parameters was shown. Methods: The practical part of this work involved 10 probands with depressive disorder. For probands, the parameters were measured in a total of 5 sessions. The parameters of the respiratory amplitude were recorded by the tailor's meter, the postural deviation from...

Two-point discrimination in adolescent patients hospitalized with anorexia nervosa
Kočí, Gabriela ; Stackeová, Daniela (advisor) ; Demeková, Júlia (referee)
Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a mental illnes manifesting itselg, among other signs, with impaired body schema and rejection of food. Principal focus of the thesis was to assess the discrimination treshold, ability to evaluate sensory perception and body self-concept in adolescent female patients hospitalised with anorexia nervosa. Our goal was to clarify and better understand the still not adequately described neurophysiological aspects of anorexia nervosa. The results were compared to control group; both groups comprised 18 girls, the average age of observed group being 14,7 ± 0,71 years and average age of control group being 15,3 ±0,71 years. Two-point discrimination was examined in three areas - arm, between shoulder blades and belly - with modified caliper. The Petrie test was used in sensory perception testing, while body self-concept was measured with BAT questionare. The examinations were performed in standardised conditions during similar day times. We found significant difference in two-point discrimination in the area between the shoulder blades with significance level α = 5 % and p-value p = 0,0001. A statistically significant difference was also observed in body self-concept with significance level α = 5 % and p-value p = 0,017. Thus we conclude that patients suffering from anorexia nervosa...
