Králik, Peter ; Kotáb, Jiří (advisor) ; Ropický, Jan (referee)
Focus of this Master's thesis is a business plan. The main focus of this business plan is organization of amateur football league in Bratislava. The goal of this Master's thesis was to determine whether this project can be successful, what is needed in terms of organization prior the league, during the league and after individual seasons of this amateur league. Furthermore, this project was also looking to determine demand and the registration fee and finally, to draw up financial analysis. When it comes to determining the registration fee it was crucial to take into consideration results of the created questionnaire. In addition, author's personal experiences that were gained through taking part in such amateur sport events in Prague, were also constructive in development of this business plan. The outcome of this project is a financial analysis which confirms expected economic convenience of amateur football league taking place in the capital of Slovak Republic.
Investment project evaluation: Construction of the biogas power plant Smržice
Kalista, Michal ; Kotáb, Jiří (advisor) ; Ropický, Jan (referee)
The investor has to decide whether he realizes the investment in the biogas power plant Smržice with a certain installed capacity If implemented, the investor is entitled to the government-guaranteed purchase price of electricity fixed for 15 years. It is necessary to predict profits and cash flows of each period which are further used for dynamic investment evaluation methods for the purpose of investment decision making. The application of the net present value shows whether the investment project is acceptable or not. The sensitivity analysis is used to compare changes in inputs with its impact on the net present value. The biogas power plant Smržice is typical example of biogas power plants built in Czech Republic in 2011-12 due to the government economic support, so finally these conclusions are generalised for the whole branch of electricity production from biogas.
Comparative Analysis of Selected Waste Management Systems in the United States
Brožová, Eva Antonie ; Osersová, Marta (advisor) ; Ropický, Jan (referee)
This thesis concerns a comparison of two currently the most frequently occuring recycling waste systems in the United States of America -- Single stream and Dual stream recycling systems and an assessment of feasible utilization of Single stream system in the Czech Republic. The comparison is performed from several aspects: investment costs, operating costs, costs of the processors of secondary raw materials, costs of environmental pollution caused by CO2, SO2 and NOx, capacity utilization and citizens participation in the system, focusing on a single commodity; paper and cardboard waste. As according to realized studies the systems represent different load for individual entities in the economy cost-benefit method is used for the comparison. Using this method, four collection areas and the most important beneficiaries (municipal entity, secondary raw materials processors, landfill and residents) involved in the system are analyzed in the state of Pennsylvania. None of the existing studies did not take into account costs and benefits of more than one entity so far. In the Czech Republic no such studies have been realized, therefore this issue has become the subject of this thesis. In term of costs and benefits for the municipal entity the results of realized studies coincide in results of this thesis, i.e. Dual stream recycling system is more suitable for small collection areas. However from the point of view of all the major beneficiaries results of this thesis vastly differ. Based on this analysis it can be concluded that any of the above mentioned systems is not suitable for small communities, regarding the fact the values for the Single stream system are less negative. Application of Single stream system in the Czech Republic, namely in Prague, with all its limitations (we assume costs derived from the U.S. market) comes more favorable than the currently implemented system.
Cost - Benefit Analysis on noise limits increase
Zelenka, Václav ; Vojáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Ropický, Jan (referee)
The objective of the thesis is - with the aid of cost benefit analysis - evaluate economic impacts of planned amendment to Regulation of the Government No. 148/2006 Coll. On Health Protection from Adverse Effects of Noise and Vibration, namely based on the case of specific road track. Amendment to Regulation is aimed at making existing noise limits softer (to increase them) and thus to bring about savings in investment cost connected with anti-noise measures. The thesis intends to use a single case study to find out whether benefits resulting from price reduction in the process of road construction are higher than costs in the form of decrease of welfare caused by the higher noise exposition; alternatively at what period savings in costs connected with road construction equal to decrease in welfare (savings in costs are one-off, while increase in noise exposition and related drop in welfare are long-term). Estimated changes in welfare are based on analysis of secondary sources -- first of all on the study of traffic externalities in the Czech republic conducted by contingent valuation method. The actual core of the thesis is cost benefit analysis. Attention is paid also to broader discussion on experience in providing exceptions from noise limits in the Czech Republic.
Regulace počtu parkovacích stání u rodinných domů a její dopady
Malinová, Kateřina ; Vejchodská, Eliška (advisor) ; Ropický, Jan (referee)
The development of the car transport has contributed to better mobility and also to more traffic on roads and more on-street parking. Governments reacted to this by creating a state regulation specifically the requirement of a minimum number of parking spaces to each new building. This policy may have some positive effects such as improving traffic flow of public roads and better security, but also brings additional costs for owners of new buildings. The goal of this thesis is to analyze the differences in an approach of Czech municipalities to this regulation and an impact discussion. I have chosen as a method of my research a combination of a controlled interview with representatives of five randomly selected Building Authorities in the Czech Republic and an electronic questionnaire with closed and open questions for the broader sample of municipalities in the Czech Republic. The analysis came to the conclusion that an application form of the minimum parking requirements policy for new buildings may vary significantly for each municipality and some differences exist in costs for owners of family houses because some of them are constrained to build paved and garage parking and the others have only their site next to the house.
Expenses for Public Green Space as a Function of Various Parameters of Municipalities in the Czech Republik for 2011
Mrkvičková, Ivana ; Vejchodská, Eliška (advisor) ; Ropický, Jan (referee)
Greenery in towns and cities are an important part of our lives and influences us in many positive ways. In the Czech Republic, the establishment, restoration and maintenance of public green areas within the competence of municipalities. As with every other public service there arises a problem with the quantity and quality of its provision. This paper deals with the relationships that developed in 2011 between spending on public greenery and various parameters of the municipalities. These relations are implemented by means of two hypotheses. The first is based on economies of scale, and assumes that the larger the municipality, the smaller expenses should be provided for public green areas per inhabitant. The second hypothesis is based on the work of Carruthers and Úlfarsson (2008) and says that a higher the population density reduces the per capita expenditures of city govenments. The validity assessment of the hypotheses is done by use of the statistical method of regression analysis. This, however, did not confirm the validity of any of them. Thus there is no indirect relationship between the size of the municipality or population density and public expenditures on green areas per capita. The reason why there is no relationship lies primarily in the great freedom of decision-making of individual municipalities, as far as public green is concerned.
Analysis of the applicability of tradable permits in water management in Czech Republic
Ropický, Jan ; Vojáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Slavíková, Lenka (referee)
Tradable permits are currently among the most frequently used market-based instruments of environmental protection. The aim of my work is this tool to explore and then implement the water management in the Czech Republic. I'm going to try to answer the fundamental question is whether a tool that can be in our legal environment to apply to the taking of surface water for industrial use? This method of solution is used, especially abroad, especially in the U.S. and Australia. I'm going to use the literature and resources in this particular part of the world. In my work I rely on both scientific literature and articles written on this subject and obtained from the primary sources of research systems in other countries. The analysis of the Czech environment, the focus on water authorities and companies to individual basins, which are according to our laws the central government in this matter.
