Professional Relationship as the Basis for Personal Assistance Services

The aim and content of this thesis is a description of the relationship between personal assistant and a client with physical disabilities. Personal assistance as service is described mainly according to the Act No 105/2006 on social services. The second part of the theoretical section is devoted to the issue of physical disability, especially from the perspective of social psychology. The central and most important section of my thesis describes the issue of relationship, its origin, course and termination. This section aims at analyzing the issues of power and boundaries in relationship as the knowledge of these issues is important for an assistant providing personal service. While working on this section of my thesis, I devoted attention primarily to systemic approach and relationship theory of C. Rogers and his followers. The theoretical part consists of an extensive case study, which is a means to illustrate practical example of the described subject.

Nový Zákon o sociálních službách č. 108/2006 poprvé v dějinách naší země legalizuje terénní sociální práci jako legitimní a efektivní formu sociální práce s různými cílovými skupinami, která může přispět k eliminaci negativních důsledků nevhodného, rizikového, společensky nepřizpůsobivého jednání příslušníků těchto sociálních skupin. Terénní sociální práci v oblasti sociální prevence, které se ve své práci věnuji, vnímám jako velmi potřebnou, moderní a dynamicky se rozvíjející formu sociálních služeb. Důvodů, proč jsem se rozhodla zabývat se tímto tématem bylo několik. Jde o oblast sociální práce, která vyžaduje vysoké zaujetí a nadšení sociálních pracovníků. Vnímala jsem také vysoké nároky, které jsou kladeny na terénní sociální pracovníky. Zajímalo mě, které znalosti a dovednosti musí mít profesionál v této oblasti, jak jsou lidé, vykonávající terénní sociální práci na svoji profesi připravováni, jaké jsou jejich specifické vzdělávací potřeby. Sociální práce v přirozeném prostředí klientů, mimo bezpečný prostor instituce s sebou přináší i nestandardní, nebo dokonce rizikové situace. Pracovník musí v takovýchto situacích obstát jako profesionál a poskytnout kvalifikovanou službu, a to sám, aniž by měl k dispozici bezprostřední oporu a pomoc od svých spolupracovníků.
Educational supervision

The aim of my diploma thesis is "educational supervision" (supervision of practical training experience) and appreciation of its significance in the process of preparation for future career. In the first part of the thesis I am dealing with definition of supervision in social work and with adumbration of its history, goals and meanings. Second and the most fundamental part of the thesis is focused on the subject of educational supervision. There is a description of the term educational supervision, context of its implementation in certain fields and a comparison with professional supervision. Also I am dealing with the history of educational supervision, its theoretical background, main goals, and the theme of educational contract and process of educational supervising. The last part of the second chapter is focused on particular methods of learning and assessment. The third part of the thesis is dealing with a conception of educational supervision in the reality of Czech higher education of social work, the main focus lies in defining the fundamentals of practical training in the process of education of social work students.

The Institution Is My Home

The thesis named "The Institution Is My Home" aims to describe the right of people with learning disabilities choose their form home and closer forms of implementation of this right, explore the context of the emergence and selection process constitution home. An authoress theoretically specifies the right choice home sites in the plane of Human Rights and in the context of the status of a person with intellectual disabilities in society as a citizen with all human rights and duties. The text reflects in particular Article 19 of the Convention on the Rights of Person with Disabilities setting the right of people to live in the community, with a choice place your home on an equal basis with others. Implementation of this law in the Czech Republic affects the continuing provision of a dual model of residential social services - community and institutional. The authoress also discusses the conflict between the decision of a person to live in an institution and a sense of social services, which must not hinder social inclusion and deepen social situation. Qualitative research presents a connection creation and the process of choosing the constitution as the home of four persons a place chosen by their home institution.
Home and People with Mental Disorders

This diploma thesis is titled Home and people with mental disorders. The author aims at several objectives; to scrutinize the phenomenon of home from the point of view of some disciplines, to characterize housing in terms of social politics, to describe social housing support services for people with mental disorders, to find out how people who experienced a mental disorder and now live in a leased accommodation, with their family or in a sheltered housing perceive home, and to ascertain what is the minimal role of social support services in creating home for people with mental disorders. This thesis is divided into six chapters. In the theoretical part, in the first four chapters, the notion of home is described from the point of view of theology, philosophy, sociology and social work. The perception of home in people with mental disorders is the topic of the fifth chapter, which bridges the theoretical and the research part of the thesis. The sixth chapter presents the author's qualitative research analyses of interviews with people with social disorders. Three kinds of outcome data processing were applied.
