Predictors of job satisfaction among employees working in an IT organization

This paper examines job satisfaction and its predictors in the information technology sector. The aim is to examine job satisfaction factors specific to work in information technology sector and to determine whether these factors differ in their predictors of job satisfaction across roles within a software development and technology testing organization. The theoretical section focuses on the field of occupational health psychology, and in particular on the theoretical anchoring of the concept of job satisfaction. The main contemporary theories of occupational health, job satisfaction and the factors that influence job satisfaction are described. An overview of the methods used to measure job satisfaction and the specifics of working in the IT sector are also provided. The research section includes quantitative research in a selected IT company. A test battery is used to measure job satisfaction, which includes selected scales from the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire, the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Questionnaire and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale. This bachelor thesis is about Locus of Control and its influence on pain perception, specifically it is focused on pain perception in patients undergoing aortocoronary bypass surgery. The thesis is divided into a literature review section, which contains chapters on Locus of Control and alternatives to this concept, self- efficacy, pain and possibilities of its diagnosis, introduction to heart diseases - specifically ischemic heart disease and possibilities of its surgical treatment including aortocoronary bypass surgery. The theoretical part aims to create a framework that serves as a basis for a research proposal, which aims to verify whether Locus of Control has an impact on postoperative pain and success of treatment.
