Electroconvulsive therapy from the perspective of health professionals
Rothová, Lucie ; Tošnarová, Hana (advisor) ; Petr, Tomáš (referee)
Electroconvulsive therapy is a medical therapy in psychiatry that is still stigmatized in the eyes of the public and people, and knowledge of this method is different. The aim of this thesis is, to find out the nurses' perspective on ECT, to map the knowledge of nurses across different specialties and how the therapy is stigmatized by nurses. The thesis compares outcomes between two groups of nurses namely those with and without a psychiatric background. The results were obtained through quantitative research. By analyzing the data, we came to the results that nurses are well informed about the therapy and view ECT, in most cases, as a humane method, with no serious risks after the therapy. Low knowledge and stigma was observed only in individuals. The differences in knowledge between the compared groups of nurses were not large, but psychiatric nurses were better informed. Nurses without a psychiatric specialty have more negative view of ECT than nurses with a psychiatric specialty. Overall, the results were satisfying.
Determination of bile acids in bronchoalveolar lavage of patients after lung transplantation
Plášilová, Denisa ; Kozlík, Petr (advisor) ; Petr, Tomáš (referee)
Lung transplantation is a life-saving treatment for patients suffering from lung failure. However, the median survival of patients after this procedure is still low (6 years). The main reason is mainly due to chronic lung allograft dysfunction, which can lead to graft rejection. Gastroesophageal reflux has been identified as a major risk factor for this dysfunction (some studies also report duodenogastroesophageal reflux), which has been shown to worsen after lung transplantation. Markers of gastroesophageal reflux may include bilirubin, pepsinogen II (some studies report pepsin), pH and bile acids. In this study, all these markers were determined in a cohort of bronchoalveolar lavage samples and compared with each other and with clinical data that classify progressive deterioration of lung function after transplantation. After measuring the samples by LC-MS/MS, it was found that the total bile acid concentration measured by the enzymatic assay did not match the total bile acid concentration measured by liquid chromatography. The samples were subjected to hydrolysis and solvolysis to determine whether the disproportionation in the two methods was due to atypical conjugated or sulphated bile acids. Significant correlations were found between clinical data and bile acid concentrations and between...
Study of parking in Okružní Street in Bystřice nad Pernštejnem
Jelen, Jan ; Petr, Tomáš (referee) ; Kosňovský, Michal (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis addresses the use of space on the Okružní street in town of Bystřice nad Pernštejnem for the construction of new parking spaces using for example underground garages and also addresses the proposal for traffic calming down the entire length of the street. The reason for the modification is unsuitable condition of the existing street, where in many places a suitable area for parking and parking spaces is not built, also there are no elements for traffic calming. The bachelor's thesis aims to solve these shortcomings and also, look at the possible concept of solving the lack of parking spaces in densely populated areas.
Steel structure for the the stationary hydraulic unit
Petr, Tomáš ; Pokorný, Jan (referee) ; Pokorný, Přemysl (advisor)
The main theme of this diploma thesis is a description and a strength analysis of several steel structures of valve frames used by Bosch Rexroth, s. r. o. The first part sums up possibilities of fastening of hydraulic control elements. Furthermore, current types of valve frames were described. The strength analysis of three steel structures was output of using the finite elements method. The result of these analysis was the determination of the loads and critical points of individual structures. In the end of this study, new structures for one block frame were designed to modify the critical locations of the original solution.
The engine unit of forestry harvestor
Petr, Tomáš ; Škopán, Miroslav (referee) ; Kašpárek, Jaroslav (advisor)
At the beginning of bachelor´s thesis is description of harvester and its main parts. Then research of four six – wheeled forestry harvesters was developed. Features of compared harvesters are similar to the task. The next point was theoretical part with equations needed for calculation of rolling and inertial resistances. Based on the theory an enumeration of powers of particular driving modes was done. Then performances for work devices of harvester were calculated. From the single values were determined total powers of machine, which were transparently organized into table and graph. Based on the maximal total power were chosen three appropriate engines. From the three was selected the most suitable one.
Locomotor, emotional and cognitive skills of laboratory Norway rats with different early ontogenetic experience with social play
Petr, Tomáš ; Špinka, Marek (advisor) ; Telenský, Petr (referee)
In the contemporary research of playful behavior in animals, it has not yet been reliably tested whether the experimental limitations of play in the critical phase of ontogenesis will have a negative effect on motor, emotional and cognitive skills in the later stages of an individual's development. In this thesis, we try to separate the influence of kinematic and social limitations of play experience by comparing three treatments of Long-Evans laboratory rats, in which rats were exposed to different play experience in the period between the 24th and 66th postnatal day. In this early period of ontogenesis, all male rats were allowed to play for one hour a day. According to the treatment, it was either modified the rats' play environment or the play was reduced by a socially less playful partner. In full-play treatment, the Long-Evans focal laboratory rat was allowed to play in the full extent of movement in the entire environment of a play arena. The play was enabled throughout the whole experiment with a partner of same Long-Evans strain. The same strain paired arrangement for the play was present in the second treatment with kinematically-reduced play, however the space for the play behavior was limited by a radical lowering of a ceiling of the play arena to such an extent that any three-...
