Study of hydroenergy potential exploitation of given location
Kollár, Martin ; Hudec, Martin (referee) ; Rudolf, Pavel (advisor)
For the objective of my Bachelor`s thesis I chose an assessment of hydropower potential and a design of machinery in the small hydropower plant construction on the river Váh in Trenčianske Biskupice site. I divided hydropower potential into three parts. First part is the past then present and last is future status. I have subsequently used these information in the design of machinery, including turbine and its associated penstock and draft tube. Part of my thesis also contains appropriate design solution for control gate of intake and outflow, trash rack and trash rack machine. I prepared and presented two possible alternatives together with the drawing documentation which are at the end of my paper compared and evaluated.
Stability of centrifugal pump characteristic curve
Kollár, Martin ; Haluza, Miloslav (referee) ; Pochylý, František (advisor)
This master's thesis includes theoretical analysis of characteristics of a centrifugal pump, conditions of stability of Y(Q) characteristic, calculation of characteristics ßč(ns), modifications leading to stabilization of a spiral body and a runner, a design of the spiral, the runner and follow-up computation in Fluent program.
Assessment of hedge fund replication strategies
Kollár, Martin ; Dědek, Oldřich (advisor) ; Derviz, Alexis (referee)
Hedge funds are investment vehicles that provide solid risk-adjusted performance in various stages of market cycle and that are not strongly correlated to the markets they transact in. The profits from hedge funds were for a long time available only to high net-worth individuals or institutional investors, who could bear the possible negative effects of a serious downturn of the fund. The recent development in the hedge fund industry however leans toward the exploitation of hedge fund returns by a wider range of investors. Many hedge fund databases and investment banks have thus created different hedge fund indices and hedge fund clones that would replicate the exposures of hedge funds with smaller fees and smaller investment requirements. Our analysis showed that the development of such products has advanced into more promising stages, when new approaches are used to better replicate the hedge fund returns. Time, plan and market
Kollár, Martin ; Mlčoch, Lubomír (advisor) ; Gregor, Martin (referee)
The thesis of this work is to enlighten the process of decision making of an individual in time, which is in the end integrated into market system, where many individuals, who are deciding simultaneously, interact together,. The fundamental principles of decision making contained in this work are drawn from the work of G. L. S. Shackle, which chief characteristics are instantaneousness and uncertainty caused by the lapse of time. Hence, the decision making of an individual takes place in the specific instant through generation of conceptions about possible future outcomes of action. The generation of these concepts is based on instantaneous and apriory conceptions, which represent the description of the working of system. Further decision making consists of application of expectations and assignment of future value to the imagined outcomes. As every individual lives in a society comprised of a large number of individuals, diffusion of knowledge and expectation takes place by means of realization of plans and price mechanisms. Thus, every individual achieves to gather sufficient amount of knowledge to be able to make meaningful decisions in this complex system, which is changing in the lapse of time.
