Discrimination against women in labor law relations
Jandová, Gabriela ; Tomšej, Jakub (advisor) ; Matějka Řehořová, Lucie (referee)
This rigorous thesis deals with the analysis of the issue of discrimination against women in labor law relations. Its aim was to analyze and present specific forms of discrimination through which discrimination against women in employment relationships manifests itself, both before the employment, during its duration, and subsequently at its termination. All this with an emphasis on European case law. Within the processed issues, a partial question was asked whether the current domestic legislation is adequate and whether it corresponds to the seriousness of discriminatory behavior and the needs of society. The case law of the Czech Courts, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the Supreeme Court of The United States, and others were used to fulfill the set goal. At the same time, the researched topics were elaborated in a broader context, specifically economic-sociological. In processing the presented work, I mainly use the descriptive, comparative and analytical methods. The text of the thesis consists of an introduction, four main chapters, which are further divided into individual subchapters, and a conclusion. The first chapter focuses on the equality of men and women and its historical development in legislation. I describe changes in legislation for the equality of men and women which...
Endogenous opioids and their physiological significance
Jandová, Gabriela ; Novotný, Jiří (advisor) ; Rudajev, Vladimír (referee)
This study examines the influence of endogenous opioid system on physiological processes. Opioid substances and their receptors are located not only in central but also in peripheral nervous systems, as well as in other tissues. Endogenous opioids are produced in the body and influence a wide-range of physiological functions. They are regulators of pain, emotions, breathing, memory, homeostatic functions, etc. Due to their diversity and variety of effects, they may have many possible medical uses, whether in the field of cardiology, anesthesiology or psychiatry. Since the opioid system influences many physiological processes, the understanding of its properties and functioning is prerequisite for deeper study of those processes. Therefore, the study of opioid system and new discoveries in this field receive a great deal of attention nowadays. Key words: Opioid system, endogenous opioids, receptors, nervous system, physiological functions, pain, emotions, breathing, memory, homeostasis
Taxation of income of business companies and their members (comparison of legal regulation in the Czech Republic and selected EU countries)
Jandová, Gabriela ; Novotný, Petr (advisor) ; Vondráčková, Pavlína (referee)
In my dissertation I examine the taxation of income of companies and their partners. In using the method of comparison, I evaluate the crucial aspects of tax and business law of the Czech Republic and the Kingdom of Belgium (hereinafter referred to as Belgium). My goal is to compare the mutual complexity and comprehensibility of these legal regulations, which could influence the decisions of potential investors, mainly using the method of description and analysis. In my work I find out the degree of competitiveness and the attractiveness of individual forms of business affected by the legal requirements for these companies. In the first part, I analyze the tax system of the Czech Republic. In this chapter, I outline the reasons for the declining trend in the share of direct taxes in the tax mixes of developed countries, and also views on the real effect of tax competition. I consider the resolution of the residency conflict and the issue of double taxation treaties to be a key issue, the clarification of which is important for the correct use of the methods of double taxation measures, when assessing their advantages and disadvantages that I see in the methods used. The next chapter is devoted to the analysis of companies established under Czech law. I compare these companies using their main...
The effect of opioids on the redox state of rat myocardium
Jandová, Gabriela ; Novotný, Jiří (advisor) ; Roubalová, Lenka (referee)
The aim of this work was to study the expression of proteins involved in reactions in which harmful free radicals are degraded in an organism. was observed difference between the expression of selected myocardial proteins in non-influenced animals, animals who were treated with low dosage of morphine (0.1 mg/kg/day or 1 mg/kg/day), and animals administered high dosage of morphine (10 mg/kg/day). Low dosages were administered for 28 days and high dosage for 10 days. In addition, the effect of abstinence lasting one week was assessed after cessation of morphine administration (1 mg/kg/day). Morphine at low dosage (0.1 mg/kg/day) increased levels of glutathion peroxidase-1/2, which may be considered as one of the possible consequences of the ongoing oxidative stress. There were no significant differences in glutathion peroxidase-6 expression. Next aim of this work was to study the expression of antioxidant enzymes. These experiments were carried out on myocardial preparations from the animals treated with a constant dosage of morphine (10 mg/kg/day) for 10 days. Samples from these animals were used for measuring the total antioxidant capacity of the left and right ventricles. These samples were also used for determination of concentration of the oxidative stress marker 8-isoprostane. We also aimed to...
