The analytical part focuses on the identification of propaganda elements in selected articles of Melodie magazine. The reflection on music production during the normalization period in Czechoslovakia included a variety of approaches and attitudes towards popular music. Sedláková, Aneta ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Hroch, Miloš (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to outline how the British web media portray key women of the British Royal Family in their coverage, namely Catherine Middleton and Meghan Markle. I have focused on the themes of gender stereotyping and racism in relation to the media representation of both women. My aim was to find out if the aforementioned celebrities have been subjected to discrimination based on their gender and race, how this affects their image and the media's treatment of women as such if they do not conform to traditional notions of femininity. In the theoretical part, I examine the process of celebritisation in the royal family, the position of women in the British monarchy and their representation in the media throughout history. I also focus on the theme of gender within feminist theory and the position of women in British society. Furthermore, I focused on how the royal family exploited their position through gatekeeping. In the methodological section I will examine 4 media outlets and 5 different time periods which offered the opportunity to compare the media portrayal of Middleton and Markle. I will use qualitative research method and grounded theory. I will focus on the themes of career, women's roles in society, evaluation of physical appearance, background and race and assess the extent...

The Attitude of Harry Styles's fans towards gender roles in society
Michalčíková, Kristýna ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Hroch, Miloš (referee)
The theoretical part of the thesis delves into the subject of gender in all the necessary dimensions for the elaboration of this work. The term is initially characterized in a broader context and further developed through gender roles and their shaping in society, including more specific terms such as masculinity and femininity, and gender stereotypes. The focus extends to relationships in connection with gender, where the influence of family relationships on development, the impact of peers, and parasocial relationships, relationships between fans and celebrities, are thoroughly examined. Additionally, there is a chapter on what is typical in fashion for men and women. The work places a central emphasis on exploring fandom, with definitions in this area. This includes an exploration of fandom itself, the perception of the term 'fan,' boy bands, and fandoms. The chapter on Harry Styles dissects his stance on gender through various statements, fashion, and the lyrics of his songs. The practical part of the thesis involves semi-structured interviews with fans, representing both women and men. Based on the results and materials, subsequent analyses are conducted. The work aims to explore how fans perceive Harry Styles' views on gender roles in society and whether they are influenced by his opinions on...
Media communication of presidential candidates on Twitter
Dvořáková, Daniela ; Křeček, Jan (advisor) ; Hroch, Miloš (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to map and evaluate the political media communication of the candidates for the 2023 presidential elections. In the research I first try to outline the situation and circumstances that were related to the period before the 2023 presidential elections and at the same time I introduce the presidential candidates - Andrej Babiš, Petr Pavel, Danuša Nerudová, Mark Hilšer, Pavel Fischer, Karel Diviš and Tomáš Zima. In the empirical part of my thesis, a systematic and structured approach to data analysis was used, with the main emphasis on the method of content analysis using coding. This analytical method enables the identification of key patterns, themes, and relationships in textual or image data. Content coding was conducted as part of the thesis, which involved assigning categories or codes to individual Twitter posts of political candidates in the 2023 presidential election. The first part of the research included posts by seven candidates from November 25, 2022, to January 14, 2023, while the second part of the research included posts by only two advancing candidates from January 15, 2023, to January 28, 2023.

1 Abstract Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Analysis Candidate: Mgr. Martin Novák Supervisor - specialist: doc. Mgr. et Mgr. Rafael Doležal, Ph.D. Supervisor: doc. PharmDr. Radim Kučera, Ph.D. Title: Use of HPLC-HRMS for the study of tacrine group compounds potentially useful in the therapy of Alzhemier's disease. High-performance liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry (HPLC-HRMS) is an analytical technique very often used in the new drugs development. This technique is widely used, from the confirmation of the proposed structure and identification of present impurities, through the assessment of absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion to the monitoring of poisoning and intoxications. In the theoretical part, the presented dissertation thesis is focused on the basic characteristics of Alzheimer's disease, its currently available treatment and new treatment strategies. In addition, attention is paid to areas closely related to the experimental part, namely: the study of pharmacokinetics, analytical tools for determining pharmacokinetic parameters, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry and the specifics of the bioanalytical methods. The experimental work is in the commented form of...

Remembering in postapocalyptic world: Anticipatory memory in postapocalyptic series about pandemic
Červenková, Adéla ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Hroch, Miloš (referee)
This thesis aims to explore the relationship between future, present and past in the context of memory creation in post-apocalyptic media content. Using the concept of anticipatory memory, the aim is to discover how characters from distant post-apocalyptic future marked by a catastrophic pandemic remember the time before the pandemic, meaning their past and our present. More specifically, this work will focus on concepts of memory and remembering and clarify key theories about memory that include collective and cultural memory, nostalgia or trauma. Next, I will describe temporal deviations in the narrative structure, anachronies of analepsis and prolepsis, and their use in fictional creation, and I will define the concept of anticipatory memory. Finally, I will characterize the genre of post-apocalyptic fiction, its narrative scheme and ways of depicting memory. I will also focus on characteristic motifs of post-apocalyptic fiction, which include, for example, the fight to live, changes in social structures, or the existence of remains of the old world in a post-apocalyptic world. The practical part is dedicated to qualitative research that uses elements of narrative and discursive analysis in the analysis of anticipatory memory in the post-apocalyptic series Station 11, Sweet Tooth and 12 Monkeys.
