Study of Using Wearable Devices
Hlavačka, Martin ; Dalecký, Štěpán (referee) ; Samek, Jan (advisor)
In recent years, the amount of wearables and level of their interaction with users is constantly increasing and deepening. This fact is followed by this thesis, in which I aimed on creating a overview study of best known and available devices on the market. In subsequent chapters the various options available for developing applications for these devices are analyzed. Based on the acquired knowledge content also contains development of demonstration app for the selected smartwatch Motorola Moto 360 sport. Created overview and analysis of development options provide knowledge for orientating and information required either for selection of wearable device or software development for it.
Processing Sensor Data from a Wearable Device by Machine Learning
Hlavačka, Martin ; Dobeš, Petr (referee) ; Herout, Adam (advisor)
The goal of this master's thesis is to analyze the situation of wearable devices with the Android Wear operating system and recognition capabilities of various movement activities using neural networks. The primary focus is therefore on identifying and describing the most appropriate tool for recognizing dynamic movements using machine learning methods based on data obtained from this type of devices. The practical part of the thesis then comments on the implementation of a stand-alone Android Wear application capable of recording and formatting data from sensors, training the neural network in a designed external desktop tool, and then reusing trained neural network for motion recognition directly on the device.

Contactless Device for Multispectral Hand Scanning
Hlavačka, Marek ; Kanich, Ondřej (referee) ; Sakin, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor thesis concerned to design and implementation of a contactless device for multispectral hand scanning. The first part was focused on the necessary knowledge of biometrics, properties of human skin and electromagnetic radiation. When designing the work, emphasis was placed on user comfort and quality of processing. A modifiable solution sensing both visible light and near infrared radiation has been developed. As part of the work, a database of hands of 21 different people was created with a size of 400 images.
Railway Traveller Eduard Bazika, or Travelling with Wife
Hlavačka, Milan
Ing. Eduard Bazika (1830–1914) was not a professional pilgrim, but a pilgrim by profession. As a graduate of the Prague Polytechnic, he specialized in railway construction all his life and as an engineer, first of all for the State railways, and from 1855 until his retirement in 1891, he traveled all his life for the private State Railway Company (StEG), or rather, before construction, he traveled the entrusted railways in the Bohemian and Moravian landscape. Even after retiring, he worked for the Land Committee of the Kingdom of Bohemia and its Railway Committee, and in this position he once again traveled to all corners of Bohemia to assess the profitability of future local railways. A peculiarity of his was that he always tried to combine his traveling duties with his family life, which resulted in his wife and children traveling with him to various estates and railway constructions. He did not leave aside longer, more demanding private trips with his wife to world exhibitions and historical monuments in Italy (accompanied by Jiří Stibral) or to inspect the newly completed Alpine railways. As a representative of the self-confident Czech middle class, who already had free time and financial resources (and, of course, an overhead ticket), he was able to combine the obligation to travel with a passion for travel and perceived traveling as a necessary part of the active lifestyle of a modern person.
Karel Huss and Superstition
Roll, Pavel ; Hlavačka, Milan (advisor) ; Tinková, Daniela (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to appropriately interpret the text of the manuscript Vom Aberglauben and categorize it within the cultural-historical context of its time. Although some popularizing- stylized papers have already discussed the story and legacy of its author, Karel Huss, the last executioner of the city of Cheb, they have not sufficiently captured Huss's personal traits and subjectivity in perceiving superstitions, that gave rise to prejudices, which Huss grappled with throughout his life. The interpretation is based on a literary analysis of Huss's poetry and the manuscript Vom Aberglauben, by considering its then historical reality. Through the agency of that this thesis contributes to enriching the discourse because, so far, the analysis of Huss's poetic output has been entirely neglected and regarding the manuscript about superstitions, researchers have limited themselves to general statements, which, despite being indisputable, reveal only little about Huss's relationship with superstitions, magic, and folk religion. Moreover, in the story of Karel Huss (1761-1838), "grand" historical decisions overlap with every day's history, social history with art, old feudal orders with modernization tendencies, the general with the unique and various cultural trends, which Huss managed to reflect.

Brtková, Klára ; Šedivý, Ivan (advisor) ; Hlavačka, Milan (referee)

Historical Anthropology and New Military History constitute the methodological basis of this work. The primary sources of this bachelor thesis constitute of memoirs from both Prussian and mainly Austrian or Czech military as well as civilian participants. Authors of these ego-documents, which had been largely published in print, rank among the lower or middle class. The sources were processed by the use of textual analysis with occasional application of comparative method. Due to a large number of available sources the topic is processed as a case study. It was concluded that the contemporary participants' experiences were very diverse, which...

Small-town drama: The Search for Identity in Dvůr Králové nad Labem in the period of the Great War and the Revolution
Rejchrt, Ivo ; Hlavačka, Milan (advisor) ; Šedivý, Ivan (referee) ; Kessler, Vojtěch (referee)
Submitted work aims on studying changes of life, identity, and loyalty of citizens in Dvůr Králové nad Labem during World War I. The first step is to describe economy, self-governance, and state administration in a town which was developing dynamically in the last pre-war decade thanks to significant industrialization. Self-governance and state administration, which cooperated to maintain order even during the coup days in 1918, tried to reduce war and economic difficulties, poverty, and supply shortages. District National Council was able to enforce the dismissal of the district governor, but then the administrative continuity of the district governor office was maintained. The democratisation of the right to vote changed the distribution of political power in the town, but the victory of the Czechoslovak Socialists and the second place of the National Democrats (contrary to national results) demonstrate maintaining the dominance of voters' national feelings. The second step is the analysis of contemporary press. Two newspapers gradually closed (one in the meantime published a Russian manifesto), but the third survived the entire war and witnessed changes in censorship and propaganda. The third step is research into local education, which reflects state propaganda, "mobilization" of the background...
