Mapové dovednosti českých žáků: porovnání různých věkových skupin 3 Abstract The present study deals with, in Czechia, still poorly investigated topic, namely the level of map skills of pupils of different age groups. Specifically, the thesis is concerned with map skills of pupils aged 11, 15 and 18 years, so pupils at the end of the first, second and third education level. Selection of pupils of these ages allows us to compare map skills with the requirements for pupil performance contained in the official curricula. Firstly, there are map skills defined. Subsequently, an analysis of Czech curricula was made. Then the results were compared with the results of the analysis of curricula of Slovakia, Finland and the U.S.A. to assess the concept of map skills in these documents. The results of this comparative analysis show that the Czech curricula in terms of map skills requirements indicate some randomness and lack of clear, legible concept of their development at different levels of education. Using results of this analysis, core map skills were identified - the ability to locate objects on the map, to use map as a source of information and to create maps. The following research was aimed at the first two groups of map skills. A level of pupils' map skills was observed using a map skill test that was...

Král, Luboš ; Řezníčková, Dana (advisor) ; Herber, Vladimír (referee) ; Hofmann, Eduard (referee)
This thesis is focused on the use of geospatial tools in secondary schools in Czech republic. Subject of study are mainly Geographic information systems (GIS) and Remote sensing and their implementation into secondary school curricula. Aplication a research in this area is in the centre of interest of IGU. Previous works showed, that GIS has great potential to contribute to effective learning of geographic concepts, knowledge and GIS can be a tool for display, inquiry and analysis in problem based learning. The main goal is to explore the current state of geoinformatics involvement in teaching in secondary schools and to identify how to develop this condition at all levels of the curriculum (intended, implemented and attained). In order to achieve this general objective in thesis are chosen for each level of curriculum following goals: 1) At the level of intended curriculum we are dealing with two questions: At first, how is geoinformatic's topic presented in national's curriculum of a selected countries. At second, which geoinformatic skills should be acquired by secondary school's students. The main method is content analysis of documents. 2) At the level of implemented curriculum we try to provide findings regarding the current state of proliferation of the GIS software at Czech grammar schools...

Specific water properties of pit lakes in the Czech Republic
Hrdinka, Tomáš ; Janský, Bohumír (advisor) ; Benešová, Libuše (referee) ; Herber, Vladimír (referee)
Anthropogenic lakes constitute a significant part of the Czech countryside water component which has not been given sufficient attention so far. The presented thesis deals with the assessment of variability of physico-chemical properties of water in 30 selected pit lakes in order to identify specific features associated with quarrying of different mineral raw materials, basin morphometry and trophic level of the lakes affecting the quality of accumulated water. In the second part of the thesis the author deals with the comprehensive limnological study of the Hromnické Lake with extreme water chemism resulting from excavation of pyritic shales and focuses on the phenomenon of meromixis especially. The results are based on the evaluation of physical properties of water in the lake vertical profile (temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH, transparency and colour) and chemical analyzes of water samples collected from the surface and bottom of the lakes during the four seasons in 2003-07 (determination of Ca, Mg, Na, K, Nammon., NO3 - , SO4 2- , Cl- and alkalinity), including determination of chlorophyll-a. In the case study of the Hromnické Lake conducted in 2010-11, the analysis of hydrological regime of the lake, determination of PO4 3- , TOC, selected metals (Fe, Mn, Al, Zn, Ni, Cu, Co,...
