Weldability of steels for the manufacture of bicycle frames
Grim, Robert ; Richter, Tomáš (referee) ; Vaněk, Mojmír (advisor)
This thesis is focused on steel materials used in bicycle frame manufacturing. The alloys are analysed based on their mechanical properties as well as their weldability. Steel materials are divided into three groups corresponding to the foremost frame manufacturers. Alloys with trade names are paired with equivalent normalized materials selected according to their chemical composition. The weldability of individual steels is addressed in several chapters sorted by materials’ mechanical properties and structure. The work further explains why TIG welding of frames is preferred and what the method’s main advantages are.
Conceptual design of competition model with vertical take-off and landing
Monková, Paulína ; Grim, Robert (referee) ; Hájek, Tomáš (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the conceptual design of the competitive model of the aircraft for the international design student competition held in 2022. The introduction of the work focuses on the analysis of the rules of competition. The research section focuses on possible aircraft configurations and existing commercially available models of the same category as the competition rules. The practical part of the work processes the selection and closer characteristics of the individual parts of the aircraft, the mass analysis process and the determination of the aerodynamic centre of the model. The output of the work is a conceptual design and system model.
High performance paraglider aerodynamic optimization
Grim, Robert ; Navrátil, Jan (referee) ; Popela, Robert (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the aerodynamic analysis of the competition paraglider wing. Drags of the particular wing parts are divided into chapters. The aim was to get a grasp of sizes of the individual components drags in relation to the entire assembly. In the first instance, a 2D profile and then the entire configuration of the 3D wing was analyzed. After the evaluation, some power reserves were detected in an airfoil and so the airfoil shape was optimized. After the optimization of the individual components, the CFD calculation was used again. At the end, geometry changes were evaluated.
Wind tunnel measuring equipment calibration
Study of propeller slipstream influence on the wing with unconventional configuration of propulsion system
Hazman, Yagmur ; Grim, Robert (referee) ; Navrátil, Jan (advisor)
Today's aircraft propulsion development is moving towards the use of electric power units. One possibility is the use of distributed propulsion, i.e., several independent power units located on the wing. An example is the NASA X-57 Maxwell experimental aircraft. This thesis focuses on the study of the effect of this unconventional propulsion configuration on the aerodynamic performance of the aircraft.
Technical means of aircraft crew rescue
Zemánek, Adam ; Grim, Robert (referee) ; Bartoněk, Jaroslav (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to create an overview of technical means for rescuing aircrew in emergencies, to compare them within thier categories, and also to create a conceptual design of the activation mechanism for these means. The overview of the means includes the history and current situation of aircrew rescue, using ejection seats and balistics parachute systems. The comparsion of the means is based on their area of application and their characteristics. The conceptual design of the mechanism is designed as a system of pulleys in accordance with the CS-23 regulations issued by the EASA agency. The results of the thesis can expand reader’s knowledge of modern possibilities for aircrew rescue, particuraly in general civil aviation. The developed conceptual mechanism complies with the CS-23 regulations, and it is capable of withstanding the assumed load. Which is confirmed by the conducted strength and stretch testing. Raising public awarness of the rescue systems may ultimately contribute to enhancing safety in aviation.
