Sleep education in students of high school

This thesis focuses on the effectiveness of sleep education on sleep quality and well-being in third and fourth year high school students. The implementation of sleep education was conducted between December 2023 and February 2024 in selected high schools. The research included the administration of standardized methods at two times, namely before sleep education and after sleep education. The instruments chosen for this research were the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), and the World Health Organization Well-Being Scale (WHO-5). The variables were given by the final scores from the two measurements of three scales mentioned above, which were then compared using appropriate statistical methods. At the same time, the research focused on the comparison of the given variables between the group of students who received sleep education and the group of students who did not receive any education. The thesis also focuses on opinions of students about the sleep education, its usefulness and possible suggestions for similar future programmes. Teacher's experiences with sex education

The right to sex education is part of the right to information and education and thus represents a part of human rights. Sexuality concerns everyone and is an important part of human life since birth. Yet sex education is not a priority in schools. The aim of this study was to investigate the experiences of teachers, who also act as prevention methodologists, in the field of sex education and to find out what form sex education takes in selected primary schools. Seven respondents from primary schools in rural areas of the central part of Czech republic participated in the research. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data, which was then analyzed using thematic analysis. The data shows that the sex education provided is inconsistent and unstructured. Teachers are often unaware of current approaches to sex education based on recent research, therefore students are not provided with appropriate information. Very often, sex education did not meet the principles of effective primary prevention, focusing either only on the cognitive component of attitude change or the affective component of fear, or did not present enough of the positive aspects of sexuality to students. Well-being of students of the Faculty of Education and a prevention of burnout syndrom

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of well-being of university students from Faculties of Education across the Czech Republic. The aim of the theoretical part was to introduce and define the concept of well-being in terms of the most well-known theories and to describe what specifically defines well-being of university students. For orientation, the developmental period that corresponds to studying at university was briefly described. Next, the theory focuses on the stressors of college study and what coping strategies for coping with stress are effective or not for students. The research part was conducted qualitatively. Its purpose was to describe the experience of 7 students from Faculties of Education via semi-structured interviews. The data from the interviews were further analyzed and interpreted through reflective thematic analysis. The outcome of the research are the 4 most significant themes tied to students' well-being. The research shows that motivation and attitude towards education are central to students' perceived well-being. Also that relationships and support help students the most in their education journey. The transition from homeschooling to a school and its impact on a child's wellbeing

The bachelor thesis deals with the transition from home-schooling to school. It also focuses on how the transition affects the student's well-being. The aim of the qualitative research was to describe how former home-schoolers experience the transition, what changes are associated with the transition and whether there is something that could facilitate the transition and adaptation to school. Semi-structured interviews were chosen as a method of data collection. Six interviews with former home-schoolers were carried out. Thematic analysis was used for data analysis. The aim of the analysis was to identify the main themes that emerged in connection with the transition to school. The results of the research indicate that the transition from home-schooling to school is a challenging event that is accompanied by a large number of changes. The biggest changes involve the student finding himself/herself in a group and in a new environment that has different rules than those to which he/she was used to. Everyone reacts differently to the changes and the respondents varied in terms of whether the changes and the transition were stressful and difficult for them, or whether they adapted to school quickly and without major complications. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the difficulties that university students have in accessing these apps, the positive and negative aspects they perceive about the apps and the reasons that lead students to uninstall the app or not to continue using it. The theoretical section includes chapters on the development and classification of apps, the approaches used within apps, and maps the effectiveness of these apps, their benefits, and their limitations, including ethical limitations. Within the theoretical part, specific applications are also presented and analysed, which are then the focus of the empirical part of the thesis. Evaluation of the benefits of the primary prevention program Nevypusť duši for its participants

The diploma thesis focuses on the evaluation of the primary preventive programme Duševní zdravověda, which deals with mental health issues and is implemented in secondary schools. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the effectiveness and benefit of this programme for its participants. Another aim was also to find out if variables such as gender, age and experience with mental illness of the respondents can influence their attitudes towards mental health. In the theoretical part of the thesis are defined mental health and illness, primary prevention and the current state of school primary prevention in the field of mental health are also defined. Also identified are protective factors that primary prevention programs dealing with mental health should support. Principles of effective primary prevention programmes and examples of proven mental health prevention programmes are presented. The preventive programme Duševní zdravověda and the non-profit organization Nevypusť duši, which implements it, are described here. The research group consist of 1898 respondents (1655 respondents from the experimental group and 243 from the control group).
