Early Modern Age Bohemian Lands and the Area of the ContemporaryRomania at the Turn of the 17th Century

The dissertation deals with one of the specifics of the history of the Bohemia lands in the early modern period - the conflicts between the Habsburg monarchy and the Ottoman Empire. The aim of the thesis is to create a comprehensive view of the changing relations between the Bohemian lands during the reign of Emperor Rudolph II and the countries which, during the periods of Turkish expansion into Europe, constituted a kind of barrier between the Habsburg and Ottoman empires, i.e. Transylvania, Wallachia and Moldavia. The research topic is narrowed down to the period of the so-called Long Turkish War (1591-1606) and the subsequent period until 1613 (the death of the princes of Transylvania, Sigismund Báthory and Gabriel Báthory). 1613 is thus seen as the final landmark. The dissertation consists of three parts: 1) A brief theoretical introduction. 2) In the second part, the development of political, economic, and cultural relations between the Habsburgs and the rulers of the above-mentioned countries is depicted. 3) Interpretation so-called the second life these historical events in the Romanian and Czech historiography in the culture of both these nations. Revenants in the Early Modern Period in Bohemian Lands with regard to the European Context

The dissertation presents a comprehensive view of the issue of revenants in the environment of the Bohemia lands of the early modern period, i.e., between 1500 and 1800, in which the dichotomy of the official attitudes of the Church on the one hand and the popular view of the afterlife on the other is intertwined. The thesis contains a representative sample of revenant stories from the early modern period, on which socio-cultural subthemes in which ghosts play a role are studied. In particular, the popular "haunted house" and "Mass of Dead" stories have deeper roots in the past, and their typical features and development are discussed in detail. The key role of religion is acknowledged, and the concept of purgatory was particularly relevant to the Bohemian lands in the Baroque period. Many cases are of telling value for the study of the history of emotions and for the understanding of contemporary socio-cultural attitudes. The observed phenomena are compared with aspects of the same in other countries of the European continent - Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Austria, and Slovakia. The comparison is based on the study of the secondary literature on the subject published so far and the aim is to place the developments in the Bohemia lands in the European context. "Forgotten Reality: A Hard Nut to Crack". Fiction and Reality of Early Czech History in the Old Prague Legends by Popelka Biliánová.

Annotation: This Bachelor's thesis aims to reconstruct the historical realities contained in the old Prague legends, which were written down by the writer Popelka Biliánová (legal name Marie Biliánová, born as Popelková). Bachelor's thesis identifies the specific imprint of historical events on selected tales, monitors the development of the plot throughout times and conclusions about contemporary thinking which is reflected in the final text of old legends. The analysis of the primary sources contains old legends with transcendental elements, especially revenants. Life after Life. The Revenants in the Early Modern Period Bohemia Lands.

The master's thesis deals with one of the specifics of the cultural history of the Czech lands in the Early Modern period - i. e. the general perception of the afterlife (approximately between 1500 and 1800) and revenant issues. A revenant is meant originally a human being, who, after his death, for various reasons returns to the light of the living world, with exhibits of material (revived corpses, zombies, vampires, fexts) and immaterial (spirits, white ladies, wild hunting). In this respect, the main source are Czech demonological legends. One part of the study is to evaluate the social, religious and cultural aspects that had effect on what was said above in the specific historical period. The main emphasis is placed on the individual cases of revenants in the Czech lands, preserved in historical sources, as well as comparison with the same case in other European countries. The study will also focus on the description of biographies of historical personalities, drawing conclusions about what may have caused the conviction of being revenant.

Image of the Thirty-Years-War in Czechoslovak and Czech cinema and television

The aim of the task The image of the Thirty Years' War in Czechoslovak and Czech cinema and television is focused on certain films that are set between the years 1618 and 1648. The task is to present the style of processing of the historical reality shown in these films as well as to present the film impact on society before and after the year 1989. Another task is to show the meaning and reason of creating such films in certain time period. This paper is based on complementation method which combines various academic film studies, various news film reviews, historical context analysis of years 1618-1648 and film materials. Reception of classical culture in the Czechoslovak/Czech television of Prague created

This work focuses on original television dramatic production of domestic authors, which was created in The Czechoslovak/Czech Television of Prague, and which is based on themes related with the history of ancient Greece and Rome. The aim is to study thoroughly this production - especially to discover how many inscenations of ancient subject The Czechoslovak/Czech Television of Prague created, what the topics are, and which authors participated on it; whereas a single chapter concentrates on each inscenation. Every chapter contains the comparison of the storyline of an inscenation and historical facts (i.e. the approach of scriptwriters to ancient realia and the procedure during its reception); it further contains the circumstances of an inscenation's origin, if contemporary critics know them from available sources and the acceptance of an inscenation. The work is also complemented by a chapter, which specifies the basis of television aesthetics.
