Political prisoners of Jáchymov. Oral history in theory and practice
Bouška, Tomáš ; Vaněk, Miroslav (advisor) ; Mücke, Pavel (referee) ; Valeš, Lukáš (referee)
The aim of this doctoral thesis combines the possibilities of oral history in theory and practice. The first part prepares the field for delivering results of my research which is targeted at mapping and understanding recent history using oral histories of twelve survivors of communist régime imprisoned in the 1950s in the Jachymov district. At first, I demonstrate the usage of oral history and related thinking about it abroad and in the Czech context. I deliver the empirical material of this work using this method. It consists from life stories and personal testimonies of former political prisoners who have been organised in the Confederation of Political Prisoners after 1989 in the Czech Republic. Apart from methodological collection, analysis and interpretation of their life stories I point at further processing and introduction of such a research to the wide and expert public. I believe in the premise that personal testimonies of narrators represent a contribution to understanding "small history and its human aspect - here dealing with the Czechoslovak political persecution in 1950s. I also describe the evolution of my research project which I managed to enlarge and link to other academic work of my PhD. colleagues. Like this I hope to give birth to a (hopefully) unique multidisciplinary project which...

The life afterwards. The return of Czechoslovak political prisoners to society.
Vránková, Ivana ; Bouška, Tomáš (advisor) ; Hlaváček, Jiří (referee)
The Master's thesis "The Life Afterwards. The Return of Czechoslovak Political Prisoners to Society" is concerned with the topic of the re-integration of Czechoslovak political prisoners of the 1950s back into society after their release from prison. In the conceptual framework I provide the political and historical background of the Communist Czechoslovakia during the 1950s. I discuss the concept of political prisoner and describe the living conditions in prisons and labor camps. As observed from their narration, I also briefly outline the various strategies employed by political prisoners in their attempts to deal with imprisonment. Although the descriptions of the respondents' arrests and events that had led up to them are topics not directly concerned with the primary topic of my thesis, they are included, because they are vital in understanding the existential and other re-integration-related problems these prisoners faced. In my research, I employ the qualitative method of oral history. I focus on the time period when the interviewees were released from prison and try to describe the numerous issues they faced and had to deal with. More specifically, I focus on family and friendship relations, which had been often disrupted and the issue of seeking a new employment, an area of life in which...
"Witness of Czechoslovakia. Case Study of Czech Communist of Jewish Origin."
Bouška, Tomáš ; Cabada, Ladislav (advisor) ; Smetana, Vít (referee)
This MA thesis delivers the life story interview of Czech Communist of Jewish Origin who survived jailing in Nazi concentration camps and Czechoslovak Communist prisons. Using the delivered narrative I aim to explain the historical context of today's Czech Republic from a human perspective. The story is divided into four historical periods of Czechoslovak past for this reason. The interviewed memories touch the key events of the former Czechoslovakia and today's Czech Republic but they deal with anti-Semitism and political oppression, which are international by its nature. In my work I focus on Czech/oslovak, Jewish and Communist identities as three issues the interviewee mentions in all four historical intervals of his narrative. My intention is to clarify the keywords and to explain their meaning for the interviewee in context with the different political situations in the past. My hope is to give the story a complete form and preserve the narrative, which belongs to the gender of Holocaust and Communist witness literature. I use the method of oral history and the life story interview in my thesis because they are the most fruitful approach for my paper. These methods allow the interviewed person to speak about those parts of their lives they consider important. As for the theoretical background I use...

Work motivation of chosen company
Bouška, Tomáš ; Turnerová, Lenka (advisor) ; Drozen, František (referee)
This Bachelor's thesis is dealing with the issue of work motivation in terms of both theoretical and practical aspect. In the theoretical part is placed emphasis on the interpretation of psychological perspective on the motivation of human behaviour and also on the introduction to the most significant theories of motivation. The subject of examination in the practical part of the thesis is the motivation system of Tesco Stores ČR a.s. which is analyzed from the following points of view -- salary and fringe benefits, development and education, work content, employee evaluation, group working and working conditions. For a relative demonstration of Tesco's average wage was the company exposed to comparison with its rival Ahold Czech Republic, a.s. A survey among employees was used to analyze the rest parts of the Tesco's motivation system which, eventually, has proved to be a thoroughly developed program that the employees perceive mostly positively. However, the system has its issues -- especially in the field of working conditions -- which should become a subject of improvement.
