The Possibilities of Employment for Mentally Disabled Persons
BRABCOVÁ, Kateřina
Currently, there is a wide range of employment opportunities that can be used by people with mental disabilities. The main objective of the work is to find out what possibilities for people with mental disabilities are there on the labour market. The theoretical part contains definitions of mental disabilities, statistics, classification of people with mental disabilities, employment opportunities, employment of people with mental disabilities and legislation. An integral part of the theoretical part are the possibilities where people with mental disabilities can apply. The practical part focuses on the implementation of research. A semi-structured interview with a deliberate targeted selection of working people with mild mental disabilities was chosen for the research. The main benefit of the bachelor's thesis is to inform the public that people with mental disabilities are available on the labour market. The bachelor's thesis also serves as an overview of opportunities for people with mental disabilities in choosing a suitable job. From the survey of respondents, it was clear that people with mild mental disabilities are very well applicable in the labour market and due to the choice of employment, most of them did not face discrimination. The employment of a person with a mild mental disability satisfies and develops their personality, they often want to feel that they belong somewhere and that society accepts them. Through the employment, the respondents gain a certain position in society.

Radiocarbon dating of organic residues may not always correctly determine the age of analysed historic mortars. Therefore, it seems advantageous to use of carbon dating of the carbon contained in the structure of the lime mortar, which will provide representative data of the age of the investigated structure. The methodology presents basic instructions and rules for sample selection, processing, and evaluation. The aim of this methodology is the identification of cases where the radiocarbon dating of a binder is appropriate and to define the reasons why some binder systems fail to provide relevant results.

Preparation of mortars samples for radiocarbon dating by mechanical separation
Válek, Jan ; Kotková, Kristýna ; Fialová, Anna ; Kozlovcev, Petr ; Králová, Karolína ; Světlík, Ivo ; Pachnerová Brabcová, Kateřina
The methodology establishes the procedure for mechanical separation of the binder from the mortars to determine their age using the radiocarbon method. Along with the procedure, there is also a method of verifying the quality of purification using optical microscopy supplemented with cathode luminescence. The methodology is developed on the basis of the current state of knowledge and presents the basic sample preparation procedure in the form of a detailed description of the proven method of mechanical separation of the binder from lime mortar samples together with possible problems and an evaluation of the separation quality.

Explicit information on pronunciation in EFL coursebooks used at Czech upper-secondary schools
Brabcová, Kateřina ; Gráf, Tomáš (advisor) ; Skarnitzl, Radek (referee)
Although recognised as an important aspect of language proficiency, pronunciation often does not receive much attention in the EFL classroom. Teachers themselves admit not being properly qualified to teach this language area and consequently rely solely on the use of activities provided in the coursebook. The present thesis compares seven publications most frequently used at Czech upper-secondary schools and shows how they differ in the way they deal with pronunciation tasks and their presentation. The results indicate not only how many pronunciation activities are provided and what pronunciation phenomena are covered, but attention is also paid to what task types - explicit or implicit - are preferred as, ideally, both should be used in combination. Although it seems that four of the publications are better suited for pronunciation teaching, the conclusion is that none of them can be considered perfect and that teachers should always think of their own teaching context and adapt the material when necessary.
The just noticeable difference for English melodic prominence elicited on Czech listeners
Brabcová, Kateřina ; Šturm, Pavel (advisor) ; Tichý, Ondřej (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to ascertain whether and how the modification of pitch in the acoustic signal influences what we hear, i.e. whether we perceive a difference between the original, unmodified stimulus and the one with a modified melodic contour. The theoretical part of the thesis explains terms such as: the fundamental frequency and its contour, the just noticeable difference, intonation and the structure of intonational phrases, and the difference between English and Czech intonational structure. The practical part uses recordings of Standard British English. The contour of the fundamental frequency (F0) is changed at different places of the intonation phrase (the nuclear syllable, stressed and unstressed syllables of the head) and the pitch is either lowered or raised by 1.5 semitones with respect to the original production. The main goal is (1) to determine the influence of the melodic prominence of a syllable on the pitch manipulation detection (judged by 20 listeners of Czech origin, all students of English) and (2) to find out which other factors (such as the already mentioned direction of the change) might be significant. The results are analysed and their statistical significance is evaluated.
