Applications of stereology for characterization of nanomaterials grain structure
Šedivý, Ondřej ; Beneš, Viktor (advisor) ; Ponížil, Petr (referee)
The inner structure of materials is usually studied through the realization of suitable geometric sample, which is most often a plane section. Spatial characteristics are then estimated with the use of standard stereological methods. In the presented thesis a model of Voronoj tessellation generated by an adequate point process is used for ultra-grained materials' structure. Every tessellation cell is given its orientation attribute which represents the position of crystal lattice inside. The developed computer model allows to generate a tessellation with oriented cells according to a wide range of elective parameters, to perform the section of the structure and to calculate basic shape and size quantities with the purpose of further statistical processing. Its next function is to visualize the orientations in a pole or an inverse pole gure and to nd out the prevailing directions in the structure. Besides examining stereological methods, basics of point processes and theoretical properties of tessellations, a brief introduction into inner structure of crystal materials is included as well. Furthermore, the thesis involves the explanation of basic principals of their investigation using modern electron microscopes. The colorful picture supplement involves graphical simulation-outputs as well as samples of...
The Choirmaster and Conductor Jan Maria Dobrodinský
Šedivý, Ondřej ; Veverková, Jana (advisor) ; Nedělka, Michal (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis called "Choirmaster and conductor Jan Maria Dobrodinský" is to present the profile and the system of work of this important Czech choirmaster, conductor, and lecturer, Doc. Mgr. Jan Maria Dobrodinský (born in 1925). J. M. Dobrodinský has professionally studied at the conservatory and several colleges. He was greatly influenced by his teacher Vaclav Talich. Dobrodinský as a chief-choirmaster became a part of history of Slovak Philharmonic Chorus, which he greatly influenced by his interpretation and dramaturgy. He also worked as a conductor for several important Czech and European choirs and orchestras; he worked as a chief-conductor in Central Bohemian Symphonic Orchestra. The basis of his success was his effort to study the score as precisely as possible and to realize it most punctually on the basis of his inner sound imagination of the piece. After 1989 (Velvet Revolution in the Czech Republic), J. M. Dobrodinský enters into the politics and becomes the advisor of ministry of culture of the Czech Republic. Greatly appreciated is his work for Association of music artists and scientists, and also his pedagogical and publishing work. He could only do all of these demanding professions thanks to his diligence, further self-improvement and responsibility. Diligence, humidity and...
A point process driven by a Gaussian field
Scheib, Karel ; Beneš, Viktor (advisor) ; Šedivý, Ondřej (referee)
The thesis investigates the search for dimension reduction subspace for the Poisson point process driven by a Gaussian random eld. The work describes the method called sliced inverse regression, which is applied to a point process driven by random eld. Its functionality in mentioned context is then proved. This method is in several ways implemented and tested in R software environment on random data. The individual implementations are described and results are then compared with each other.

Statistics of directional data with an application in crystallography
Karafiátová, Iva ; Šedivý, Ondřej (advisor) ; Hlubinka, Daniel (referee)
The main purpose of this thesis is to derive methods used to estimate the mean orientation of a grain in polycrystalline material. The estimation is highly impor- tant in crystallography. However, it is often expressed by only one representative value regardless of its variability within the grain. In this thesis we present the basic concepts of crystallography, including the principle of the Electron Backs- catter Diffraction, which is used to explore the microstructure of a polycrystalline materials. Subsequently, we present six of the most commonly used descriptors of three-dimensional orientation of a crystal lattice. This overview is completed by the summary of the particular relationships between those descriptors. In the practical part of this thesis we apply derived methods on real data within the scope of research of microstructure of an aluminum alloy. 1
Random marked sets and dimension reduction
Šedivý, Ondřej ; Beneš, Viktor (advisor) ; Janáček, Jiří (referee) ; Mrkvička, Tomáš (referee)
Random closed sets and random marked closed sets present an important general concept for the description of random objects appearing in a topological space, particularly in the Euclidean space. This thesis deals with two major tasks. At first, it is the dimension reduction problem where dependence of a random closed set on underlying spatial variables is studied. Solving this problem allows to find the most significant regressors or, possibly, to identify the redundant ones. This work achieves both theoretical results, based on extending the inverse regression techniques from classical to spatial statistics, and numerical justification of the methods via simulation studies. The second topic is estimation of characteristics of random marked closed sets which is primarily motivated by an application in the microstructural research. Random marked closed sets present a mathematical model for the description of ultrafine-grained microstructures of metals. Methods for statistical estimation of their selected characteristics are developed in the thesis. Correct quantitative characterization of microstructure of metals allows to better understand their macroscopic properties.
