Psychological aspects of the transformation of gender role of transgenders in Czech context
Čechová, Helena ; Smetáčková, Irena (advisor) ; Hrubý, Radovan (referee)
The thesis presents the processes of gender role transition and sex reassignment from the perspectives of psychology, medicine, and sociology. Its main focus is on the various aspects influencing the psyche of a person undertaking transition. The thesis investigates why trans identity is commonly viewed as a pathology and the impact of pathologization on the self-perception of trans people. Furthemore, the traditional outline of the transition process in Czech sexology is compared to some current international approaches. A section of the text addresses psychotherapy as a key factor in transition. A significant component of the thesis is that it takes a sociocultural viewpoint on gender identity and gender roles. One of the goals is to understand how medical experts dealing with trans identity conceptualize transition and how trans people themselves conceptualize it. The overall aim is to investigate how both of these sides influence each other and what psychological aspects enter the processes of gender role transition and sex reassignment. Key words: transsexuality, transgender, sex reassignment, gender identity, gender role.

Čechová, Helena ; Novotná, Jarmila (advisor) ; Zhouf, Jaroslav (referee)
This diploma thesis concentrates in particular on learning from text with mathematical content. The topic is discussed from the theoretical as well as practical point of view. As for the theoretical part, four key terms, i.e. human learning, factors which influence human learning, meaningful learning, learning from text, are to a great extent analysed. The practical part of my diploma thesis is devoted to the preparation, the process of pre-experiment and experiment, presentation of their results. Relevant differences between the results of my experiment and the experiment of Hana Klímová are compared and discussed. Some data used in pre-experiment and experiment are presented in the section of attachments.

Concept of role of classmates from the perspective of adolescent girls and boys
Čechová, Helena ; Smetáčková, Irena (advisor) ; Presslerová, Pavla (referee)
in English This thesis deals with the conception of classmate's roles from the perspective of adolescent girls and boys. Thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part introduces the subject in terms of developmental and social psychology and gender studies. In the first half of theoretical part I follow up the social aspects of the classmate's role and conceive it within the class and peer group. Certain space is also devoted to establishing the relationships between girls and boys. The second half of theoretical section reflects adolescence as a specific developmental period, in which I focus on occurring biological, mental and social changes. Whole theory is penetrated by gender perspective focussing on comparison of girl or boy adolescence. Introducing the process of gender roles creation and the significance of femininity and masculinity completes the theoretical part. The empirical part includes research of role concept within the 9th class of primary school. Presenting average images of pupils about the ideal classmate (girl and boy) I highlight the gender aspects of mentioned role. While interpreting the analysis outcomes and considering itself gender membership of responding pupils I point out the role differences as well. The goal is to show whether...
Significance of family mediation in the resolution of legal conflicts in a family
Čechová, Helena ; Radvanová, Senta (advisor) ; Frinta, Ondřej (referee)
Significance of family mediation in the resolution of legal conflicts in a family The purpose of my thesis is to analyse the issue of family mediation. Family mediation which is a form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) could be defined as a structured process in which family members agree to appoint a neutral third party (the mediator) who assists them to find a mutually satisfactory solution to their problem based on their own decisions. The mediator must be impartial, their role is to encourage communication between the parties but has no authority to make any substantial suggestions or decisions with regard to the parties' issues. The mediation process is voluntary and confidential. One of the reasons why I chose this topic is my belief that family mediation can be in many cases a more suitable way to solve family conflicts than litigation. In many foreign countries (especially western European countries, the USA and Canada) mediation has a long history and is used frequently to solve conflicts that relate to separation, divorce, custody, financial questions in family etc. In the Czech Republic, however, family mediation has not been developed very well and I find this situation unfavorable. Recently there has been lots of discussion concerning the draft law on mediation. It could bring...
