Nucleic acids - New educational materials for education in biochemistry at secondary level
Volmutová, Ivana ; Hybelbauerová, Simona (referee) ; Martínek, Václav (advisor)
The thesis is aimed on creation and evaluation of the complex educational materials supporting teaching of nucleic acids at the secondary school. First, the current textbooks frequently uses for education of biochemistry were reviewed and popularity of individual textbooks was assessed. The major problems of frequently used textbooks are the insufficient graphical accompaniment, lack of recent and interdisciplinary topics and neglected relations to everyday life experience. Therefore the new educational materials are aimed to supplement these problems. The materials includes: presentation (MS PowerPoint), three educational games, worksheets, laboratory experiment (isolation of DNA) and materials shoving new biochemical applications utilised in daily life (DNA sequencing, genetically modified organisms (GMO), Polymerase chain reaction (PCR), DNA cloning). The presented support materials were evaluated at the secondary school conditions. They were successfully tested during the lessons of biochemistry at three different secondary schools. CD with all educational materials is attached.
Proteins - New educational materials for education in biochemistry at secondary level
Fendrychová, Anna ; Teplá, Milada (referee) ; Martínek, Václav (advisor)
Diploma thesis is focused on creation of educational materials supporting the education of biochemistry, specifically amino acids and proteins, at secondary level. At first the analysis of Czech chemistry textbooks concerning the two topics - amino acids and proteins was performed. The major problems found were related to the insufficient graphical representation of biomolecules, unsatisfactory motivational components and insufficient integration of the topic with biology or everyday life experience. The supporting educational materials, presented in this work, supplement the widely used chemistry textbooks. The materials includes a graphic oriented presentation, interactive animations demonstrating the process of denaturation and precipitating of proteins at macroscopic and molecular level, poster presenting the structural formulas of standard amino acids, 3D models of selected proteins, additional texts supporting the current topics concerning amino acids and proteins and the laboratory protocols for students. The presented support materials were evaluated at the secondary school conditions. They were tested in one class and the improvement of student's understanding of the topic was compared to the second class employing only the classical educational methods. The comparison of the results of...
Simple Experiments with Naturally Occurring Materials in ChemistryEducation: Support of Empirical Method and Development of Related Competences
Böhmová, Hana ; Martínek, Václav (advisor) ; Smrček, Stanislav (referee) ; Vasileská, Marie (referee)
173 Summary The doctoral thesis is focused on the problem of gaining empirical knowledge in chemistry education, on the acquirement of related competences, and on the activities which would contribute to the improvements in chemistry education in this area. The aims set in the first part of the thesis were fulfilled. I have confirmed the insufficient level of the competences acquirement among the Czech students, such as formulation and verification of a hypothesis, planning and carrying out a simple experiment, interpretation of collected data or drawing conclusions. Main cause of this problem could be insufficient opportunity to develop these competences in school chemistry (or science) education at ground and high school level. Experimental activities of individual students are rare in Czech chemistry lessons. The teachers quote that the main problem responsible for this situation is missing equipment for practical activities in their schools and absence of suitable school experiments reflecting the given safety directives. Considering these findings, I have created a set of simple chemistry experiments utilizing natural products and substances The experiments are suitable for the individual work of students and for chemistry education even at schools without a laboratory or special science classroom....
Entry of selected Czech company to the Bulgarian market
Martínek, Václav ; Gullová, Soňa (advisor) ; Švehlík, Josef (referee)
This thesis focuses on form of entry of specific czech stock company to bulgarian railway market. Thesis is divided into four chapters. First one deal with the forms of entry to foreign markets, the second chapter using SWOT and PEST analyses analyzes Bulgarian environment. The third chapter presents the concrete Czech stock company, its entrance to foreign markets with emphasis on the form of entry into the Bulgarian market. The fourth chapter describes the history of the concrete Czech stock company on the Bulgarian railway market and then outlines new possibilities of cooperation on the Bulgarian market.
