Podcasts production and consumption in the Czech Republic with a focus on marketing and business

This diploma thesis is devoted to the phenomenon of podcasting and its definition within the new media. It introduces the term in the context of its history and its current situation on foreign markets, ie the cradle of its origin. It also defines it in detail in terms of its characteristic features, form, content, and in terms of its consumption and creation. It also defines it in the context of other media types such as radio, online video and audiobooks. Attention is also paid to the possibilities of its monetization. The phenomenon is anchored in the context of new media concepts such as produsage, participatory culture and long-tail. Last, but not least, several chapters are devoted to the development of the medium and its current state in the Czech Republic. A significant part of the thesis offers and insight into the patterns of media usage by Czech listeners, as well as an insight into the current podcasting scene through the eyes of podcast creators with a focus on marketing and business. Greeping Campaign: Function of the Red Law before the 1946 Election

The elections in Czechoslovakia in 1946 were the first free elections after World War II and also the last before the onset of the communist dictatorship. And these elections granted the strongest position to the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ), which soonly exploited this advantage in the year of 1948. My thesis will concentrate on the influence of the party newspaper of KSČ Rudé právo on the decision making of the citizens. I will present short insight into the then political and social situation, but my thesis will exclusively deal with the analysis of that times articles from the pre-election period. The aim of the thesis is to show what kind of a media campaign was conducted by KSČ on the pages of Rudé právo.
Application of the artificial neural network to calculate the thermodynamic properties

This master thesis is dealing with application of an artificial neural network for calculating specific volume of steam. There is described type and construction of the needed neural network. The main outcome of this work is an executable programme, which calculates specific volume of steam for given pressure and temperature, using neural nets.
Construction of treat in newscast: example of Russia

Thesis is focused on construction of threat in newcast. The purpose of the quantitative content analysis is the construction of threat in Czech printed news in case of Russian federation. Thesis is based on presumption that with help of selective processes by journalists that implies usage of certain frames and granting of space for certain actors and themes, media are able to construct a threat that may not be even real. Czech news may be influencing our way of thinking towards Russia. The content of thesis is divided to four main parts. The first theoretical chapter links three crucial research areas: news, securitization theory and the concept of media framing. Next chapter describes bilateral relationship between Czech Republic and Russia that provides context for analysis outcomes. Methodological part is concentrated on selective processes, which are being held in news about Russia. It has been operated with four variables: actor, theme, news frames (conflict, attribution of responsibility, human interest, morality and economic) and securitization frame. A comparative study of contemporary morning broadcast Radiozurnal and Radio Impuls

The master thesis called "A comparative study of contemporary morning broadcast Radiozurnal and Radio Impuls" presents broadcasting comparation of this two radio stations. Both of them are the most listened stations in the Czech Republic, they are also the biggest competitors. Radiozurnal is Czech radio's public station and Radio Impuls is commercial station, therefore, thesis is based on the assumption that their program is different. The main part of this master thesis is content analysis, which was made between two weeks in the end of January and in the beginning of February 2019. The morning broadcast of both stations was analyzed on the basis of three reasearch questions, in terms of thematic focus, local focus and genre focus. The analysis includes a comparasion of language style. The research results are compared and shown in charts and graphs. Based on literature, the master thesis also defines specific features of radio broacasting and its genre forms. The specific methodology of morning broadcasting of both station is based on interviews with the editors.
Transmedia storytelling on the example Rychle Sipy

Transmedia storytelling is a process in which partial elements of certain fiction scatter into different communicational channels. The flow of information is mediated via several media platforms. Each medium participates in its own unique way to develop a story. This diploma thesis illustrates theoretical concept of a transmedia storytelling on an example from Czech ambience. Foglars Rychlé šípy were showing signs of transmedia narration even at their beginnings in the thirties and forties. The author himself had a significant role in the transfer of his work into different media. However, due to the high popularity of stories of the five-member club there later occurred a spontaneous rise of transmedial storytelling channelled by filmmakers, other authors and loyal fans. In the first part of the thesis, I will define the theoretical concept of transmedia narration and fiction worlds. The second part is mapping transmediality of Rychlé šípy including other literary pieces, their adaptations, work of Foglars successors and his imitators, nevertheless Foglars mystification about the existence of the club Rychlé šípy.
Social media as a source for journalists in Czech Republic

This Diploma Thesis are focused on social media as a tool for journalists in Czech republic. It contains two main parts - theoretical and practical. In theoretical part, social media are described in general, and Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are described in more details. This part is focused mostly on current trends in social media usage. Theoretical part is also focused on journalist's source problematic, primarily in internet era, and on source's credibility and verifiability. These trends are more described for media field in USA and Czech republic. Theoretical part introduce the newest available studies in social media and journalism field. Practical part is aiming to verify or deny these trends through quantitative analysis of media content, focused on usage of citations from social media as a relevant source for articles. Quantitative analysis is supported with e-mail questioning amongst czech journalist, who complete a context to this issue with their opinion. The research shows that journalists in Czech republic use social media daily for their work and they are following their colleagues from USA, so they use citations from social media more carefully and they verify their sources more.
