Slavíček, Petr ; Kubín, Petr (advisor) ; Doležalová, Eva (referee)
The present work focuses on miracles of Czech saints in the period of the early Middle Ages. In the introductory part, the concepts of sanctity and miracles and their development throughout the history are elucidated. Criteria for selecting the saints included in the work are then discussed. The work is dominantly based on hagiographic resources, yet medieval chronicles and canonization acts are also included. The main part of the work is a catalogue of miracles attributed to Czech medieval saints, particularly St. Ludmila, St. Wenceslas, St. Adalbert, St. Procopius, St. Agnes, St. Guntherus and beatific Hroznata. For each saint, both the legendary and historical lives are briefly described and the resources used are discussed. The anthology of miracles is then presented, using critical editions of the legends. The miracles attributed to the particular saints are analyzed in the context of analogical miracles in previous periods or other saints. The role of miracles in medieval society is discussed as well.

v angličtině The bachelor thesis "John of Luxembourg - his way to the throne and the beginning of his reign" describes the circumstances under which John of Luxembourg ascended to the throne of the Czech lands and provides insight into diplomatic negotiations leading to his election and his marriage to Elizabeth of Bohemia. Furthermore, I will focus on the development of the relationships between John and the Bohemian nobility up to his loss of interest in ruling over the Czech lands and his turn to foreign policy. Discourse about Hussitism in Czech society of 20th century and its illustration in the Hussite Trilogy by Otakar Vávra
Hlaváčková, Terezie ; Doležalová, Eva (advisor) ; Urgošíková, Blažena (referee)
The angle under which Czech society sees Hussitism has undergone a rapid turn over the last few decades. The planned B.Sc. thesis aims to contribute to the identification of roots and prerequisites of this turnaround laid by previous development of Czech society and culture, especially after the World War II. It is obviously also necessary to analyse the preceding long- term development, from the beginnings of the national revival through Tyl and Palacký up to Jirásek and Nejedlý. The main subject of the work will then be an analysis of new elements in the view of hussitism contained in the film trilogy by Otakar Vávra (Jan Hus, Jan Žizka, Against All), and their reception by contemporaries and subsequent generations.
An ideal ruler - Charles IV - viewed by Dante Alighieri, Cola di Rienzo and Francesco Petrarca
Janušová, Martina ; Doležalová, Eva (advisor) ; Beneš, Zdeněk (referee)
The emperor Charles IV descended from the house of Luxembourg. Dante Alighieri regarded his grandfather, Henry VII, as an ideal ruler who should reign not only over the Empire but also over the Church. Charles IV himself is known to have been a very educated man, who maintained many contacts throughout Europe. Among Charles's admirers there were also two Italian humanists, Francesco Petrarca and Cola di Rienzo, whose lives headed in a different direction, but who both saw embodiment of Dante's idea of perfect ruler in Charles IV. In this study I would like to focus on the influence that Dante's concept of ideal ruler could have on Charles' way of government and on the relations between Charles IV and the mentioned two humanists, of whom the former was Charles's friend while the other only met Charles at the Prague court as a fugitive in disguise.
Bishop and king. Relations between the last bishops of Prague and their Přemyslid kings
Boušková, Eva ; Doležalová, Eva (advisor) ; Kubín, Petr (referee)
Bishops of the diocese of Prague were not only the highest representatives of the Church in Bohemia. They were also active at the courts of Bohemian princes and kings, not only as clergymen, but often also as diplomats. Relations between princes and kings of Bohemia on the one hand and the bishops on the other hand had remarkable dynamics and varied depending on the development of events, both domestic and international, and on their mutual likings or dislikings. The project intends to investigate the progress of the relations between bishops of Prague and kings of Bohemia throughout the late Middle Ages in the mirror of their careers, their political and cultural achievements and other information referring to them.
John of Bohemia and his Connections to Avignon Papacy
Neužilová, Lucie ; Holá, Mlada (advisor) ; Doležalová, Eva (referee)
(English): The main topic of the study is to gather the evidence of communication between John of Luxembourg and popes of Avignon. The preserved edited material is classified and described on the first place by initiator of the communication, then by content, form or intent of the document. This leads to new definitions of diplomatic categories of the sources. The study is completed by extensive tables containing royal requests with benefactions and names of recipients. At the end, the author develops questions which the material imposes for future studies.
