Nonverbal communications in a general health nurse's profession

The bachelor thesis discusses a communication and it's usage in a medical environment. A part of verbal communication is placed in this assignment, although the aim of the assignment is nonverbal communication. A chapter about the communication by smile is included. At the assignment there is also a chapter which deals with specifics of communication with conscious patients with tracheostomy cannula. The second part of the assignment is based on research examination focused on survey of nurses's knowledge degree in nonverbal communication area and usage of this information in profession. Searched information were controlled by research examination between patients. Both groups of patients were from KARIM and ICU departments of General Faculty Hospital in Prague.

Quality of life in patients with coronary artery disease after percutaneous coronary intervention treatment

Risk factors, signs, diagnostic techniques, treatment and prevention were mentioned. Practical part of the thesis is based on questionnaire survey. The objectives are to evaluate the quality of life in patients with chronic coronary artery disease before treatment and assess the effect of treatment on further quality of life in these patients. Patients' compliance of preventive interventions and important differencies between both sexes were measured as well.
Boundaries of nurse's psyche between professional role and role of mother and wife

The aim of the thesis "Boundaries of nurse's psyche between professional role and role of mother and wife" is to map the boundaries of psyche of nurses as women who want and have to cope with the role of mother and wife while working in helping profession with continuous work-cycle. The aim was also to find out how both roles are mutually affected and how it is experienced by nurses. Whether they consider the possibility of planning the program with family to be sufficient, or whether they feel shift work as handicap. The theoretical part includes information about boundaries in the psyche of helping professions. It describes what this profession entails, what is the role of professional nurses. This bachelor thesis deals with life quality of patient with peritoneal catheter. Several indicators for life quality evaluation were used: Family environment, possibility to be employed, travelling, hobbies, and own definition of the life quality. It is necessary to consider the patient's life before starting the dialysis treatmentand his personality The emphasis of this thesis is based upon survey which is based on qualitative analysis of semi-structured interviews.The explored sample consisted of 6 diseased patients under PD program of various age, sex and duration of dialysis treatment.Empiric chapter is focused on problematic of life acceptance with peritoneal catheter in the area of disease cause, dialysation treatment, catheter manipulation, PD progression, and life quality evaluation. The life is limited also in the area of employment and travelling possibilities, by reason of the everyday exchanges.. The thesis also consists of exactly re-written talks with individual patients.
Eating habits of children

My bachelor work deals with the problems of children obesity. I mention the definition of obesity, BMI, children obesity consequences, food pyramid, drinking habits and movement activity of children in the theoretical part. Further I analyse psychological aspects of children obesity, the personality of an obese child and behaviour disorders of obeze children. In the empirical part I describe the process of doing my research. At the same time I compare the answers of children from primary school and secondary school. I examined the children from primary school using narrative analysis while with the children from secondary school I led a half structured conversation. All in all 36 children from primary school and 11 children from secondary school took part in my research. I deal with questions of popularity of meals, regularity of eating and also how children spend their leisure time. The end of my work is devoted to the evaluation of it.
Long-acting stress factors at the intensive care unit (ICU)

The medical care of a nurse at the intensive care unit (ICU) is both physically and mentally demanding. The bachelor's examination paper concerns the stress factors affecting nurse's work and methods are used to eliminate the stress. A question-form consisting of four parts was assembled for this purpose. First two parts were charting frequency and consequence of the stress. Second two parts located by the help of both-nonverbal and verbal methods use for elimination of the stress. The question-form was filled by 86 nurses from ICU in Teaching hospital in Hradec Králové. All data were summarized, analysed and annotated.
Burnout syndrome of general nurses in the Prison Service in Czech Republic

The extended essay is aimed to find out an occurrence of burnout among nurses working in prisoner services in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part is interested in a definition of bucnout. It describes symptoms, phases, diagnostic, the differences from the other psychic states and ways of antistress programme. It shows characteristic specialities of work in prisoner services. The practical part gives the result of the questionnaire research done in January 2009 among the nurses working in prisoner services in the Czech Republic. The main goal of the research was to state the frequency of the burnout among respondents, comparsion of the differences among nurses working in different types of prisons. It compares the differences between the intensity and the length of burnout syndrome in the practice of prison. It offers a precaution againsts the occurrence of burnout syndrome among nurses working in prison.
Nursing Errors

Key words: nursing errors, nurse, medical worker, patient, profession, communication Nursing errors represent psychological, ethic, and economic problem. Safety of patients is a priority for all healthcare facilities. However, an absolute security cannot be achieved. Prerequisite for success of risk reduction in nursing errors is a proactive involvement both of qualified and general public. Theoretical part describes possibilities of patient's injuries caused by a nurse, profession of nurses as regarded by medical psychology, communication of nurses in relation to the nursing errors. Empiric part of the work gives structured interviews in a form of quantitative research with ten nurses in two hospitals. The aim of this research is to determine the awareness of nurse errors, factors affecting nurse errors, work experiences, possible proposals for nurse error prevention.
