Gap between ideal and actual partner in homosexual an bisexual women.
Zunová, Marie ; Varella Valentova, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Bártová, Klára (referee)
Numerous scientific studies have shown that certain physical traits play an important role when people are choosing a romantic partner. Among others, the most studied female physical traits are waist to hip ratio, breast size, leg to body ratio and body mass index (weight). But so far, we know virtually nothing about the preferences of physical traits in non- heterosexual individuals. Thus, the first aim of this study is to explore the partner preferences of selected physical characteristics in non-heterosexually oriented women. Several studies, however, showed that partner preferences and real mate choice may differ from each other. We prefer many specific characteristics, but it is very unlikely that our real partner will satisfy them all, and when we are choosing real partner we usually do a lot of compromises. The relationship between preferences and actual partner choice was thus one of the main aims of our research. However, since the vast majority of previous studies focused exclusively on partner preferences of heterosexual men and women, we are focusing on women who are attracted to women. The last part of this research was to test whether the difference between partner preferences and actual partners of non-heterosexual woman influences level of satisfaction in their romantic...
The role of imprinting-like effects and social learning for persistence of variability of iris and hair color in European population
Joudal, Lukáš ; Kleisner, Karel (advisor) ; Bártová, Klára (referee)
In bachelor's thesis I deal with the influence of various factors on the color of hair and eyes of the European population. In Europe, many still find blond and light eye colour population despite there is much darker colored populations. Here are some of the mechanisms causing maintain high polymorphism in the European population. The first part of bachelor's thesis focuses on a brief description of the structure of the European population. The thesis also discusses the genetic determination of hair and eyes, its diversity and the differences of the population from the populations of Asia and Africa. In the next section, we discuss the emergence and spread of recessive alleles light eye color a blonde in Europe, particularly northern Europe. The following is a description of the mechanisms influencing the propagation and conservation of recessive alleles. In the penultimate chapter describes the relationship between the morphology of the face and eye color, and the last chapter summarizes the effects mentioned in the previous chapters and their effect on the length of the relationship between partners.
Influence of homogamy and complementarity on partner choice in homosexual individuals.
Bártová, Klára ; Varella Valentova, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Procházka, Ivo (referee)
Recent studies show that both physical and personality characteristics influence mate choice. Two theories explaining particular mechanisms of mate choice were proposed. Theory of homogamy suggests that individuals prefer partners with similar personality traits as they have. In contrast, theory of complementarity states that people choose mates with opposite personality traits. Main aim of the current study was to test homogamy and complementarity of personality traits in long-term same-sex male couples. The research sample consisted of 40 male homosexuals (mean age 24.2, SD = 4.6) and their long-term partners (mean age 27.4, SD = 5.2). All participants completed anonymous set of questionnaires (NEO-FFI, Spanier's test of dyadic adjustment, questionnaire focused on gender diagnosticy and revised sociosexuality orientation inventory) Each questionnaire was evaluated separately. The individual scores of participants and his partner was compared by correlational analyses. Then, we using a correlation and ANOVA analyses between couples similarity and results of Dyadic Adjustment Scale was tested. Findings showed that greater couple similarity in BMI and weight indicates higher satisfaction in the partnership. The results also showed that homosexual couples were similar in age, occupation, level of...
