Zezulák, Ondřej ; Špirit, Michael (advisor) ; Holý, Jiří (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with Jan Zábrana's short stories from the 1950s. With the example of the short story V noci u pece, it tries to demonstrate the specifics of Zábrana's prose in the context of literary history. In the first place, it examines the "illusion of reality" which arises during reading of the text. At the same time, it tries to prove that prose is determined by historical circumstances. Therefore, the thesis focuses on the following categories: narrator, language, space and time. In order to analyze these categories, suitable works of literary theory dealing with the individual categories have been consulted and the consequent findings are demonstrated on specific examples from Zábrana's text.

This PhD. Thesis "The Language of Images (The Image of an Author as a Paratextual Phenomenon in Cultural Transfer)" deals with the teoretical questions of the notion "The Image of an Author" and the way the term is constituted and its conections to a specific cultural space in the frame of cultural transfer. The question of the image of an author is approached in the context of other paratextual elements, paratexts are from our point of view read as cultural (semantic) units, which participace on semiotic space of culture. The first three chapters form the teoretical basis of the thesis and focus on the theme of cultural transfer and paratexts. The core of the thesis is in its second part which presents four case studies about four different author's types in contemporary Czech literature (Jáchym Topol, Petra Hůlová, Jaroslav Rudiš, Miloš Urban). Zamora, Juan ; Špirit, Michael (advisor) ; Bílek, Petr (referee)
The scope of the thesis is the description of plot in the open tetralogy of Josef Škvorecký about the lieutenant Josef Borůvka which was published between 1966-1981. We examine the extent to which the rules characteristic for detective stories are complied with in the series and how passages devoted to private life of main characters relate to the investigation of the cases. Theoretically we draw from professional literature about the detective genre (especially Škvorecký, Sýkora, Todorov) and the literature about the author (Kosková, Trenský). We describe contexts of the tetralogy with other proses of Josef Škvorecký as well.

Besides the common constructing principles, the thesis also reflects features which enrich his later works. The applied interpretative and analytical method is based on a briefly described definition of the term composition.
