Statistical aspects of nuclear collective dynamics
Macek, Michal ; Cejnar, Pavel (advisor) ; Kvasil, Jan (referee) ; Mareš, Jiří (referee)
The current PhD thesis presents a collection of selected articles related to the theoretical and numerical study of low-energy collective dynamics of atomic nuclei. The articles were published or recently submitted to international physics journals and were authored or co-authored by the author of the thesis. The eects in collective dynamics have been studied within the framework of two common models-the interacting boson model (IBM) and to a lesser extent the geometric collective model (GCM). The "statistical aspects" in the title relate predominantly to the interplay of ordered and chaotic behavior observed in properties of quantum eigenstates as well as in the classical limits of the models. The main attention was devoted to correlations between the measures of regularity/chaos and the presence of exact and approximate dynamical symmetries. An important subject of the studies were also the relationships between the properties of the classical and quantum solutions of the models both in the integrable regime as well as in the mixed regime containing elements of regularity and chaos simultaneously.
e-Voice Reader
Dvořák, Petr ; Jákl, Vojtěch (referee) ; Cejnar, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this project is to make communication between human and mobile technologies easier and allow i.e. people with seeing difficulties to use it accordingly. Input and output methods based on keyboards, screens and touch screens might not be natural and usable in some cases. The most efficient form of communication is probably the verbal communication, in other words, the "method of spoken word". Unfortunately, most devices do not support this method in sufficient quality so that it could become widely spread. Mainly "smart devices" are very popular nowadays and they are a big challenge in making them more human-like so that they could become natural and standard part of our lives. They have almost no means of telling the information to user in other way than via (touch) screen. However, a voice control is becoming a standard. Project e-Voice Reader is an application that can perform a voice reading of some common file formats and it enables user with limited ability to see to use PDA and perform some common tasks with such a device.
Photon strength functuins in 160Tb from two-step gamma cascade measurement
Kroll, Jiří ; Cejnar, Pavel (referee) ; Krtička, Milan (advisor)
Title: Photon strength functions in nucleus 160 Tb from the two-step γ cascades measurements Author: Jiří Kroll Department: Institute of Particle and Nuclear Physics Supervisor: Mgr. Milan Krtička, Ph.D. Supervisor's e-mail address: krticka@ipnp.troja.mff.cuni.cz Abstract: Photon strength functions have been a subject of a study for more than fifty years. A number of models was proposed to describe experimental data during that time. However, the correctness of these models is still very questionable and its verification is the subject of very intensive experimental and theoretical activity at the present time. In the present work the analysis of measurements of the two-step γ cascades following the slow neutron capture on the 159 Tb nucleus is used for study of photon strength functions. Results of the experimental data analysis are compared with the outputs of the Monte Carlo simulations based on the validity of so called Extreme Statistical Model. Comparison of experimental data with outcomes of simulations thus becomes the basic tool for studying correctness of theoretical models. Keywords: Photon strength function, Energy level density, Extreme Statistical Model
Bridge - computing optimal strategies
Cejnar, Pavel
We give a theoretical model of the game Bridge and its simplified variation. We construct an algorithm for the best response against any given strategy in this model. Then we construct an algorithm for an optimal strategy of the players based on the Brown-Robinson iterative method and we extend this method. In the appendix we also describe algorithms based on heuristic principles that are used in commercial programs.
