The Christian Rejection of Animal Sacrifice and the New-Testament Conception of the Christ's Death Abstract The thesis describes the relationship between the phenomenon of the animal sacrifice and the death of Jesus Christ. At the beginning of my study, I explain the basic interpretative categories that can help answer the role and substance of the blood sacrifice practice in the context of ritual activities of the archaic civilizations. Particular attention is paid to the Old Testament cult, because the sacrificial terminology, originating from this milieu, served within the framework of the New Testament canon as one of the fundamental ways to express Jesus Christ's death mystery. The thesis follows up on modern anthropological theories of the animal sacrifice; in comparison with the specific Christian concept of the sacrifice, it shows how Christ's unritual death and forms of its appropriation by believers might be considered the fulfillment and surpassing of all existing forms of sacrifice. Versified Psalter by Jiří Strejc - critical edition

The history of European psalm paraphrases begins in late ancient Greek literature. Greek interest in combining poetic content and metre is documented in the paraphrase of Psalm 102 from the 4th century preserved in the Codex visionum and the paraphrase of the whole psalter from the mid-5th century called Metaphrasis psalmorum or "Homeric psalter", both composed in dactylic hexameters. They share some features with early modern paraphrases: use of artistic language, application of christological interpretation, relation to singing, various approaches in terms of the degree of dependence on the biblical text. The Hebrew text of the Psalms shows no signs of the metric arrangement that is characteristic of traditional European poetry. Some Hebrew verses tend to be regularly organized on a tonic basis, but this arrangement is not binding or regular, unlike the standard of traditional European poetry. In the European environment, however, there has been since ancient times a strong conviction that the Hebrew verse is regularly arranged on a quantitative principle, and this belief lasted until the early modern period. A vision of the Wisdom of the Prophet Enoch. On the Function of the Parable of Enoch.

The main aim of this dissertation is to understand the function of the text The Parables of Enoch (PE) in its ancient context. Despite the complicated and composite nature of this text, I have tried to explain the internal logic of this text, especially with an emphasis on understanding the different timelines with which the author of the text works. A critical evaluation of the limits of working with the preserved Ethiopian translations, as well as with the composite nature of the extant form of the text is the essential prerequisite for the interpretation of PE. In the exegetical part, I seek to demonstrate the main thesis that the purpose of PE is to offer a complex symbolic universe through ancient authoritative visions of the ancestor Enoch that serves to legitimize the shared social reality, which is in danger due to the difficult situation of persecution and oppression. I take the theoretical framework for this research over from the sociological constructivism. While the shared social reality is often in crisis, the symbolic universe as a complex level of legitimation intends to explain this discrepancy between the assumed social reality and the reality of the everyday experience. The Concept of Hope in the Epistles of Apostle Paul

The work deals with the epistles of Paul the Apostle. Using Greek concordance, it searches for verses containing the words hope and to hope, analyzes them, and examines the context where Paul writes about hope. The analysis is then used to create generalizing characteristics: who or what, according to Paul, is a source of hope, what is its object or goal, what are its effects, how to distinguish beneficial hope from ineffective and harmful hope, what is the connection and order of virtues in the Faith - Love - Hope triad. The work also takes into account some parts expressing hope without explicitly mentioning the term, in addition to the expressed use of the word hope. It evaluates the obtained proper findings and compares them with published conclusions of other authors in professional biblical literature from the end of the 20th century to the present and with the opinion of two modern important ecclesiastical documents dealing with hope. The conclusions of the work show Paul as a biblical author who uses the concept of Christian hope extremely often in a wide range of contexts and whose epistles have a reference meaning for understanding this concept. The Image of God's Justice in the Parable of the Workers in Vineyard

The Image of God's Justice in the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard The parable about the workers in the vineyard from the Gospel of Matthew depicts the contrast between human and Godly conception of justice. The subject of the thesis is a comparison of the picture given in this parable by Jesus about the God's justice with the Old Testament picture of the Lord as the righteous God. Following a short initial characteristic of the Gospel of Matthew the thesis deals at first with the common interpretation of the conception of a parable. Then the survey of the exegesis of the parable itself is given, both by Church Fathers and by modern authors. The fourth chapter aims at the concept of justice in the Scripture of both the New and the Old Testaments, with a short discursion into the contemporary Graeco-Roman cultural world. The conclusion deduces that the picture of the God's justice inseparable from grace, given by Jesus, is more likely a consistent elaboration of the Old Testament texts than some completely new and revolutionary idea. This Bachelor thesis deals with the topic of Technological possibilities of beer brewing for special diet. It includes beer production and illnesses which obviate drinking this beverage in virtue of presence of undesirable substances. The first part of this thesis is aimed to description of ingredients which are used for brewing in the Czech Republic and also technological processes of beer production. Furthermore it describes celiac disease and thus gluten intolerance, because gluten is naturally occurred in beer. The second illness mentioned is diabetes mellitus causing a disability to break down the carbohydrates from the blood. The discussion of both diseases contains limitations of beer consumption and consequently various technological ways of production modifications which make the beer safe to drink for these patients. Last but not least the work deals with special nutrition focused on increased intake of specific group of substances, where beer can be used for its positive effects on human organism or as a carrier of added particular substances.

A missionary dimension of the journey of Mary to Elisabeth (Luke 1:36-45)

Missionary aspects of the Visitation of Virgin Mary to Elisabeth (Luke 1:36-45). This work deals with the pericope "Visitation of Elizabeth" in the Gospel of Luke as the precursor of Jesus' missionary journey through the earth into the Kingdom of God. First the exegetical issues of individual verses are described followed by commentaries and interpretative notes of several exegetes using various translations of the Sacred Scripture. Next subject is the journey, as described in Luke's gospel, as well as the missionary view of the journey of the Virgin Mary to visit his relative Elizabeth, as well as the life journey of every man which leads to the Kingdom of God, which is a theme of Jesus Christ's preaching on his way to Jerusalem (Gospel of Luke). The work attempts to capture the necessary features of missionaries that can be identified in the pericope of the Virgin Mary on the road to Elizabeth. Elizabeth herself, as the person to whom the Virgin Mary was sent as a missionary is also an important topic in this work. Elisabeth shows the task and mission of the missionary himself, not only to bring and show Christ to others, but also to enable him to whom he is sent to confess his faith and show his piety. The Contemporary Family in the Light of Biblical Narrative

This diploma thesis deals with the character and form of today's family, which is based on traditional marriage. It draws its foundations from theological interpretations of biblical passages that address this topic. These passages primarily present the family as God's will for people and His behavior as the model for marital ethics. The next section introduces the preferences and attitudes of people from the Czech Republic based on public opinion polls towards marriage, family, and other forms of social coexistence. Afterward, these public opinions are compared with the reality, as presented by the Czech statistical office, which monitors divorces and marriages in the region. The last chapters then focus on the negative effects of divorce and the factors which lead to the disruption of marital integrity. They also address the moral values that strengthen marital roles, relational permanency and "a healthy family".

James, brother of the Lord, in the New Testament

The thesis follows one of the supporting characters from the New Testament, James, the brother of the Lord. The first chapter deals with the meaning and occurrence of the name James in both biblical and non-biblical sources. The following second chapter deals with the canonical biblical texts that depict fragments of James' life. However, many questions remain about the closer characterization of our wanted person James and the form of his earthly family. The thesis also examines whether James could or could not really be the brother of Jesus of Nazareth. Through the analysis of texts we look for the answer that canonical texts give us.Subsequently, in the third chapter attention is also directed to the apocryphal and non-biblical sources that govern us about our James. In connection with the wanted James is mentioned and the first church community in Jerusalem, in which James played a significant leadership role. The aim of the thesis is to describe the character of James, the brother of the Lord, by means of all analyzed sources. In conclusion, a summary possible solution of questions concerning James, the Lord's Brother is presented.
