Measured and modelled results of ozone deposition and stomatal flux to a Norway spruce forest in locality Bílý Kříž in July and August 2008 were compared. Enhanced concentration of ozone decreased net ecosystem production, especially at higher temperatures and high intensity of global radiation.
Global climate change and regional impacts on forests in Beskydy Mts
Janouš, Dalibor ; Cudlín, Pavel ; Čermák, P. ; Marek, Michal V.
Beskydy Mts. is a region with a relatively high probability of expansion of serious Norway spruce stand fade-away types which are accompanied with gradations of insect pests and fungi pathogens as mortal factors. The study is focused on individual factors of change of forest trees growth conditions: increased CO2 concentration, drought, temperature, extreme weather, dimming effect, nitrogen deposition. Furthermore, it recapitulates briefly current state of forest stands in Beskydy Mts. and it defines procedure of estimation of spruce stand degradation risks.
Dynamics of ground vegetation in climax spruce forests in the Krkonose Mts in different stages of decline during a period after a considerable reduction in SO2 pollution
Vávrová, Eva ; Cudlín, Pavel
Our study focuses on ground vegetation dynamics in declining mountain Norway spruce forests during the period 1995-2006 following a considerable decrease in SO2 pollution. We showed that ground vegetation development shifted from the prevailing mosses and vegetation-free sites covered with spruce litter to a dominance of Avenella flexuosa during the earlier period of massive decline in the observed ecosystems (i.e. until 1995). The gradual spruce stand decline, accompanied by an expansion of ground vegetation into the spruce litter microsites, generally proceeded also in the period 1995-2002. In the period 2002-2006, ground vegetation responded to the interruption of trees dying, stopped its expansion into spruce litter microsites, and a retreat of the dominant grasses, especially C. villosa, accompanied by a remarkable increase in the cover of mosses was recorded.
Up-scaling of combined Natura 2000-BVM mapping to the area of the Czech Republic using Corine-LC mapping
Burešová, Renata ; Cudlín, Pavel
The aim of this work was to determine the per cent representation of 192 biotopes in the individual classes Corine_LC and to precise biodiversity point values of these classes using up-scaling of combined mapping Natura 2000-BVM (Biotope Valuation Method) on the territory of the whole Czech Republic. On the basis of specified point values it was possible to to count financial biodiversity values of the whole Czech Republic.
Energy-Water-Vegetation Based Environmental Accounting of Ecosystem Services and Stocks
Seják, J. ; Pokorný, J. ; Cudlín, Pavel ; Burešová, Renata ; Prokopová, Marcela
Human societies and their economies decisively depend on the life supporting functions and services of earth’s ecosystems (MEA 2005). Natural ecosystems protect against harmful cosmic radiation, continually control the composition of atmosphere, produce fertile soil and biomass, clear air and water, mitigate climate extremes, maintain biodiversity, decompose organic waste etc.
Ectomycorrhizal conditions of natural spruce forests in the Krkonose Mts. (carpophore occurrence, ectomycorrhiza morphology, molecular-biology analyses)
Holub, Filip ; Dvořák, M. ; Chmelíková, Ewa ; Cudlín, Pavel
Natural spruce forests in the Krkonose Mts. were subjected to the high pollution impact. Under global climatic change conditions the biodiversity status could be continuously deteriorated. The aim of the work is to inform about results concerning ECM biodiversity survey (including molecular-biology identification of ECM fungal symbionts), distinguish morphological ECM types and to find the relationship between forest ecosystem status and ECM biodiversity in mountain natural spruce forests.
Comparison of gradient measurement and modelling of deposition rate of ozone to spruce forest in locality Bílý Kříž.
Zapletal, M. ; Chroust, P. ; Večeřa, Zbyněk ; Mikuška, Pavel ; Cudlín, Pavel ; Urban, Otmar ; Pokorný, Radek ; Czerný, Radek ; Janouš, Dalibor ; Taufarová, Klára ; Marek, Michal V. ; Hůnová, I. ; Černikovský, L. ; Medlen, A.
Comparison of measured and modelled deposition rate of ozone to spruce forest in locality Bílý Kříž. Estimation of daily changes in deposition and stomatal flux of ozone into spruce forest.
Vegetation carbon-stores and net primary in upper Stropnice river catchment
Stará, Lenka ; Bodlák, L. ; Pokorný, J. ; Macků, J. ; Janderková, J. ; Šefrna, L. ; Středa, T. ; Burešová, Renata ; Pechar, Libor ; Cudlín, Pavel
Vegetation carbon-stores were quantified and net primary production estimated in upper Stropnice river catchment.Subsequently carbon cycle in the studied territory was composed for to estimate the total carbon balance of the area.Based on the results studied territory appear to be a carbon sink,i.e.carbon storing area.
Value of ecosystem services and nature protection in the Czech Republi
Seják, J. ; Cudlín, Pavel ; Dejmal, I. ; Petříček, V. ; Pokorný, J. ; Prokopová, Marcela ; Burešová, Renata
Results from financial evaluation show that forest ecosystems provide more ecosystem services compared to other ecosystems, because they tend to the maximal use of energy-material flows with minimal water and nutrient losses. Finacial value of ecosystem services exceed dramatically benefit from land use for economic purposes.
Energy budget of agricultural farms in Novohradske hory mountains
Plch, Radek ; Cudlín, Pavel ; Stará, Lenka
Aim of this paper was to quantify energy flows at 5 agricultural farms in Novohradske hory mountains. Energy budget of plant production, energy budget of animal production and total energy budget was counted for each farm.
