Goldsmithing in Bohemia during the Luxembourgh Era from the Viennese Royal Court Collections

Key words: Charles IV, Luxembourgs, medieval Bohemia, goldsmith, Secular and Ecclesiastical Treasury in Wienna. This bachelor thesis is about significant Czech goldsmith works produced in the 14th century Bohemia which are nowadays located in Secular and Ecclesiastical Treasury (Weltliche und Geistliche Schatzkammer) in Vienna. After depicting of a concise development Viennese court collections the text concentrates on the seventeen works of art, specifically on their history, technical qualities, artistic or art historical charakteristics. The thesis includes several items of the Holy Roman Empire treasury which were modified or supplemented between 1350 and 1378, when Charles IV managed them. Afterwards it discusses tree reliquaries, which became a part of the Holy Roman Empire treasury during the Sigismund of Luxembourg era. The treatise also deals with a Czech royal spehere and scepter, which were used until 1627. In conclusion there are described another three reliquaries deposited in the Ecclesiastical Treasury in Vienna. The possibility of their Czech origin is a matter of great concern for some authors.

121 Anglická anotace The Green Vault is among Europe's most exquisite and most famous treasure chambers. It was established as a baroque museum by the Saxon elector and Polish king August the Strong (1670-1733) between 1723 and 1730. During that period, the Wettin dynasty's sumptuous collection of Renaissance and Baroque treasures was placed on view for the first time in eight presentation rooms of the Royal Palace. The inventories of 1733 have survived and form the basis for the present reinstallation of the treasure chamber. In those documents, this group of rooms is referred to as the "Secret Repository of the Green Vault of Dresden. The malachite-green hue of various architectural elements in the rooms of the secret repository probably led to their colloquial designation as the "Green Vault" from as early as 1572. Between 1723 and 1730 August the Strong realized his vision of a Baroque synthesis of the arts as an expression of wealth and absolutist power. In harmony with the festive architecture, 3,000 artworks were presented standing freely against a background of richly embellished and mirrored display walls and on ornamental tables. The Art Nouveau Decor in Prague Ecclesiastical Milieu

The main theme of bachelor thesis "The art nouveau decor in the Prague ecclesiastical milieu" is to open the questions of applied art using in the roman catholic church and its auxiliary time frame is delimitated by the years 1890-1914. The fact, that the Art Nuovo program was fullfiled especially in big cities, was the reason for focusing on Prague. The first chapter is devoted to the Art Nuovo as a phenomenon, to the research development and basic literature within delineated theme. For functional reasons is this chapter divided into the artistic and ecclesiastical part, whereas the first and larger of them is deailing briefly with the Art Nuovo participations abroad and its acceptance. The second chapter closely evolves the term "Art Nuovo", its newly brought ideas and time space in which we can talk about this movement. The next chapter of the work concentrates on the Czech, especially Prague milieu as the seat of institutions partaking in applied art: It means School of Decorative Arts, Museum of Decorative Arts, Establishment of Artěl, Prague Art Workshops and The Association for Czech Works. Bohemian Baroque Cut Glass

Bohemian Baroque Cut Glass Bohemian Baroque cut glass dates back to the reign of Rudolph II., when numerous artists came to Prague including gem cutters and, later on, also glassmakers such as Caspar Lehmann. The promising development was interrupted by the Thirty Years' War. However, that was followed by a prosperous period and advances in perfecting the glass, which came to be known as "Bohemian crystal" due to its properties that were similar to rock crystal produced at an earlier time. Bohemian crystal triggered a development in engraving and cutting techniques for which it was suitable due to its unusual hardness, and soon the Bohemian cut glass attained an exquisite quality. The development of Bohemian glassmaking was also influenced by other countries with their own specific glass production, such as Italy and Germany. The products, which were purely status symbols at first, gradually became popular and reached the wider public. The motifs of the Bohemian Baroque cut glass came primarily from graphic works and coins, and were further influenced by the style of the time and clients' wishes. Early Medieval Buttons from Bohemia in Cultural and Historical Context

Anglická anotace Presented BA thesis dealing with "Early Medieval buttons from Bohemia within their cultural and historic context" summarises the currently available archaeological material together with the published finds of the slavic buttons from 8th - 9th century in Bohemia. Introductional parts of the work characterize the button functions, materials used and fabrication technology. Major part of the thesis comprises the complete listing of the archaeological sites with the button finds, the description of buttons and the decoration typology. Bohemian finds are set in cultural and historic context as a part of the Great Moravian empire. Important part of the work is formed by the graphic plates of the individual sites and the comparative table including complementary fotodocumentation by the autor. Catalogue of liturgical vestments of the Order of the Cross with the Red Star in Prague

Středověkým, renesančním a barokním tkaninám a výšivkám, stejně jako liturgickým textiliím, se začala v posledních čtyřiceti letech věnovat soustavná odborná pozornost, což je jistě záslužné. Textilní památky uložené v různých světových sbírkách či církevních institucích si toto "znovuobjevení" a následnou péči bezpochyby zaslouží, stejně jako pozornost laické veřejnosti. Mnoho z nich patří mezi nekrásnější a nejkvalitnější práce z produkce uměleckých řemesel. I tato diplomová práce se snaží, i když ve skromné formě, představit výjimečný soubor liturgických textilií, převážně barokních, z kláštera křížovníků s červenou hvězdou v Praze, které byly užívány k bohoslužbám v hlavním řádovém kostele sv. Františka. Tento řád vždy patřil k těm nejvýznamnějším v české historii. V čele řádu stávaly VYJlmecne osobnosti, které díky jeho jedinečnému postavení ve společnosti, často ovlivňovaly kulturní i společenské dění své doby. Hnutím osudu byli hlavou tohoto vlivného řádu v několika funkčních obdobích i čeští arcibiskupové. Bohužel nedostačující archivní prameny mi neumožnily zjistit více o spojení mezi představiteli řádu a jednotlivými kusy či ornáty v souboru.
