Although mustelids comprise the most abundant group of predators in the Czech Republic, they are one of the least studied groups of our mammals. Since there is an absence of data necessary for their protection or the level of management, data about for ecology and abundance of oine marten (Martes martes), stone marten (M. foina), western polecat (Mustela putorius), steppe polecat (M. eversmannii), weasel (M. nivalis) and stoat (M. erminea) were synthesized.

A still unique human case of alveolar echinoccosis was described from Šumava Mts. region (Klatovy district) in 1979. However, no studies focused to detect the source of infection in this area were performed till present. **arnivores were parasitologicaly examined for the presence of Echinococcus multilocularis cestodes in 39 hunting grounds of southern part of Klatovy district and National park Šumava.
