Niederlová, Petra ; Hošek, Pavel (advisor) ; Vojtíšek, Zdeněk (referee)
Impact of Hans Küng's Outlook on Inter-religious Collaboration in the Czech Environment Over the last few decades the Swiss theologian Hans Küng has worked towards dialogue between religions. His work has led for instance to the wording of declaration Towards a Global Ethic: An Initial Declaration, signed by representatives of all religions of the world. In this study Küng presents a general ethical agreement which can form a basis for the coexistence of all existing religions. This consensus can apply not only on a religious level but also in lesser fields such as politics, economy or management. There can be no peace without peace between religions - this is the inspiratio behind all Küng's work. Küng argues strongly for ecumenism. He seeks understanding among religions, rather than differences. He starts out from the idea that a human being is fundamentally a believer. In a time when interest in institutional religion is declining Küng takes pains to convey the religious experience to the largest possible number of people. This study maps out the effect of Küng's inter-religious efforts in the Czech territory. It looks at the reception of the inter-religious dialogue in the Czech environment and examines its conditions and implications. Keywords Hans Küng, inter-religious dialogue, religion in...

Aria school as a case of implicite religion
Slačálková Otterová, Mariana ; Vojtíšek, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Hošek, Pavel (referee)
In this bachelor thesis, I have used the case of Ario school (1992-2014, with successor group which still exists) to show that a group, which does not understand itself as a religious one, can have implicit religious elements. The thesis is based on interviews with twenty-two interviewees, who have been engaged in this organization at various times of its existence, divided into three groups: the renegades, former members who left the organization without conflict and men and women who are still members of the (successor) organization. There are no academic or other texts on Ario school thus the first part of this thesis introduces this organization and reconstructs its history. The second part of the thesis analyzes specific phenomena, which can be looked at from the religious point of view. The analysis is based on the concept introduced by Ninian Smart, which he introduced in his Dimensions of the Sacred, where he defined seven dimensions of the sacred: ritual, doctrinal, narrative, ethical, emotional, social, and material. The group had many aspects of new religious movement, especially because of the role of its leading figure.

Sehnsucht: an introduction to the romantic desire
Smolen, Štěpán ; Hošek, Pavel (advisor) ; Lyčka, Milan (referee)
The present thesis explores the experience of romantic desire (Sehnsucht). It is mostly based on a wide comparative study of the 19th century European and partly also Northern American literary texts which are used as a tool to define and describe the key features of the Sehnsucht experience. It also tries to demonstrate - using the method of ideal types - the different attitudes of the romantics towards their longing. The final chapter then deals with the various kinds of the counter-romantic criticism that are both aimed against the Sehnsucht experience and relevant from the perspective of the religious studies; it also shows several different Christian responses to this experience. The thesis exposes practical implications of different answers to the relation between the infinite desire and the finite world, between the promises of the miraculous Blue Flower and the everyday life. Rather than arguing for one or other of these answers it wants to create a map of both affirmative and critical attitudes to Sehnsucht.
The World as "The First Sacrament". Concept of the World in the Liturgical Theology of Alexander Schmemann
Macháčková, Ivana ; Noble, Ivana (advisor) ; Hošek, Pavel (referee)
Alexander Schmemann, one of the greatest orthodox theologians of the twentieth century, understands world in his liturgical theology as a gift of God ́s love to man. Man was created as a priest of creation and he should accept creation as a gift and bring it in thanksgiving back to God. But man diverted from God, he lives in a self-centred way and he separated divine and profane. Salvation is seen by Schmemann in Jesus Christ, who renewed relation of man to God, renewed the continuity between the world and himself. The central place in Schmemann ́s liturgical theology has liturgy. The eucharist is described by Schmemann as the entrance of the Church into the joy of her Lord. It has cosmic, all- embracing character and it transforms everything. This liturgy takes place in separation from the world, but for the world. In the offering we bring to God the whole world and it becomes in the liturgy what it always should have been, but was not. The Church is the gift of reconciliation and forgiveness. She represents the whole creation before God. Schmemann strongly emphasises the role of community. He criticises attempts of unity from "below" and he also does not accept the activities of the Church in the social and political sphere. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
