Knowledge Economy and Education in the Czech Republic

The main objective of this thesis is to identify and then compare the financial and human resources embedded in education. Specifically, these are the investments in education in the Czech Republic in comparison with selected countries, and from the perspective of public and private expenditure spent on education and expenditure on education as a percentage of GDP. The theoretical part of the work, focusing on the importance of education for society, human resources and human capital, defines the basic concepts and establishes a theoretical frame work. The analytical part is to assess investments in education at various levels of study and funding for research and development in the Czech Republic and the subsequent comparison with selected countries of the OECD and EU28. The conclusion of the thesis, containing a summary and evaluation of the previous parts of the work, the apparent decrease incurred expenditure on education relative to GDP, when the Czech Republic is below the OECD average. This trend may be due to low interest government about this resort. Research and development brings new knowledge and technologies needed to increase the productivity of individual states. Czech Republic attaches to investment in research and development due to GBARD share of total public expenditure in the long term greater significance than the average for the EU28.
Truck Transport in Monopolistic Competition

In the theoretical part of the thesis, emphasis is placed on the definition of the concept of competition and the various market structures with a focus on monopolistic competition, which is part of the sector of road freight transport. It's followed by the concept of transport according to the nature of transport pathways with a focus on efficiency for the different types of transport. The area of transport it is complicated to obtain the franchised business, in particular financial and professional competence. In the framework of the theoretical part of the thesis, emphasis is placed on the concept of the cost that is used for processing your own part of the work. Own part of the work focuses on definition of costs, which translate into a price per kilometer travelled. This is in particular on fuel costs representing the most significant item of the direct costs. Follow payroll costs, including contributions and travel allowances. Also it's followed by direct depreciation and other direct costs, which include road tax, insurance, repairs and maintenance, other direct costs and toll. Subsequently, it is attributed to the amount of manufacturing overhead representing the most significant cost item and calculated profit. The result is the cost per kilometer excluding VAT. Part of the thesis is to assess the cost situation of the firm along with the recommendation for a business in the field of road freight transport.
Office Financing and Budgeting

The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the characteristics of budget systems, especially the areas of public budgets, i.e. the state budget and the budgets of regions and municipalities. This part of the work is characterized by many instances of various budgets and municipality budgets. The state budget in terms of budgetary system is assigned the greatest importance. The central issue of this work is the municipal budget, which also corresponds to the practical part. Furthermore, the structure of both revenue and expenditure, including the ability to cover the resulting deficit, is discussed. The practical part analyses the municipal budget of Vysokov, a municipality in the Náchod district. The introduction is a brief description of the selected municipality. What follow are the horizontal and vertical analyses of the financial statements in a simplified format. The achieved results are compared with the results of the neighbouring municipalities of Studnice and Kramolna for better predicative ability of management. The period over which the financial statements of the municipalities were assessed stretched 2010-2014. In the conclusion of the practical part, a pyramid breakdown of the municipal property of Vysokov was drafted in relation to the total capital.
Monopoly in Terms of the Czech Economy

This thesis deals with monopolies and companies in a dominant position in the Czech economy. The theoretical part explains the market, its functioning and laws, characterizes the perfect and imperfect competition; the individual structures of imperfect competition are analyzed more specifically. The biggest part is dedicated to the characteristics of the monopoly and regulation of the monopolies. The practical part focuses on analysis of current situation on the Czech market; it marks the companies, which could be considered as monopolies. The work examines the position of individual companies on the market, analyzes the reasons for their dominant market position, determines, what type of monopoly the individual companies belong to, and answers the question of harmfulness of these monopolies. Then the thesis presents a survey, which expresses the opinion of the Czech population on the issue of monopoly.
Application of the Fibonacci sequence in asset markets

This bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of using the Fibonacci sequence in asset markets. First, it introduces the issue of asset market and describes the individual assets. Then it explains, twhat it is the Fibonacci sequence and what mechanisms cause that it can be applied to conduct market assets. Describes the various technical analysis tools, which using this sequence. In the next section, the reader is familiar with various business strategies that utilize the tools and indicators based on this principle. As a brief description and as an example of using this strategy in the trading platform MetaTrader5. Finally, it applied Fibonacci tool to chart the development of prices of selected market for the year 2015 for the purpose of verifying that the market reacted to the level of the Fibonacci sequence. The author's subsequent assessment recommended to carry out more detailed statistical examination. Methods based on the Fibonacci sequence, when used properly, increases the chances of profitable trading. They are the accurate method of exploring capital markets. Above that, it will be able to predict future results and determine future trends of macroeconomic aggregates. However, it is necessary to observe the principle of risk management.
The unemployment by educational attainment and age in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis addresses the issues around the rate of unemployment in regard of varying age groups and the highest respective level of education. It deals with the basic facts of unemployment. We focused on its very details and characterized the states of risk an applicant faces on the job market. Further, we specified the hurdles a nonworker has to cope with. Besides that the standard unemployment index of the Czech Republic and the evolution of vacancies was analyzed closely. Furthermore we compared genders in their respective age groups and considered if these differences are significant factors of unemployment. This bachelors thesis also includes empirical studies, which ideally should lead us to findings of what the main reasons for unemployment are and additionally to the extent of knowlegdability of expectant graduates when choosing their field of study in regard to their utilization on the labor market. The studies were collected through questionnaries which were compiled for the unemployed and for employment office workers.
Administrative Monopoly in terms of the economy of the Czech Republic

This thesis describes the existence of administrative monopoly in the Czech Republic. It concisely explains the division between perfect and imperfect competition. In connection to the imperfect competition both monopolistic competition and oligopoly are mentioned. The thesis characterises monopoly features, its origination and price discrimination. Furthermore, it focuses on concrete monopoly in the Czech Republic and the anti-monopoly policy of the Czech Office for the Protection of Competition. The practical part concentrates on the state enterprise of Czech Post. It contains a historical overview of postal services in the Czech Republic and it characterizes Czech Post including all its services, postal network and organisational structure. The workings of postal services and changes in its operation are described both in European and Czech context. The practical part consists substantially of the depiction of liberalisation of postal services market, which happened in the Czech Republic in 2013. The thesis characterises the legal framework of the loss of monopoly position of Czech Post and evaluates the process of liberalisation in EU countries and in the Czech Republic.
Monopoly in Conditions of Czech Economy

The bachelor thesis deals with the issues of monopoly in conditions of the Czech economy. The theoretical part is focused on the definition of concepts in terms of market and market structure and perfect and imperfect competition. More details are elaborated monopoly position depending on the market power, the causes and the formation of monopoly prices, monopoly profits, loss of monopoly or the definition of the supply curve. The basic issues are completed with the cases when the performing of the monopoly is not in accordance with the law and shall work out the principles of regulation and restrictions. Ultimately there are mentioned special cases exhibiting monopolistic behaviour, which are the monopson and bilateral monopoly. The practical part is devoted to a particular firm of the monopoly position. The chosen company is the Czech Post, s. p. Consideration is given to the historical development of the company, the current position on the market of postal services, the development and principles of the availability of services, prices of services, employment and wage policies. Also there is described the loss of the monopoly position of the Czech Post, s. p. depending on the postal market liberalisation in 2013 with the gradual emergence of competition on the market of letter and parcel services. At the conclusion of the thesis there are given suggestions on solutions to the situation, which are also connected with the decline of the letter mail due to the spread of electronic communication.
The firm in competitive environment

My bachelor work deals with the issue of competition in wood processing industry specifically sawmilling. This thesis is divided into two main parts, theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part defines important terms related to the issue. The core of the thesis concentrates on perfect and imperfect competition. The theoretical part represents the pillar for the practical part. The practical part focuses on a particular company in the wood processing industry. At first it briefly introduced and on the basis on selected rations is drawn up financial analysis. The middle part of practical part describes the wood processing industry and main competitors. In conclusion is evaluation of the situation of the company within competition according to the comparative method and SWOT analysis and also list of strengths and weaknesses of the company.
Comparative analysis of the mergers in 2014

The diploma thesis is divided to two various parts. The theoretical part is introduced by showing of different possibilities how companies can grow. There are also explained in detail topics related to mergers - for example types of mergers, history, process of mergers and the motives which lead to the realization of the merger. The last chapter of the theoretical part deals with evaluating of the success of the merger. The main part of this diploma thesis is to prepare a detailed comparative analysis of mergers registered in the Commercial Register in 2014. The introduction of practical part is concentrated on the selection of statistical criteria, methods of collecting and evaluating data. The presentation of the results of the analysis is divided into two parts. The first part analyzes the mergers carried out in 2014 from several points of view, among others includes the representation merger ratio by each merger type, the representation of various legal forms or national and cross-border mergers ratio also. After charter evaluating the data for 2014, the comparative analysis for period 2010 - 2014 is provided.
