Long-term care of a family member from the perspective of the caregiver
Volejníčková, Romana ; Hasmanová Marhánková, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Kiczková, Zuzana (referee)
This thesis is concerned with twenty-four hours for elderly family members from the perspective of the primary caregiver. The aim of this work is the understanding of home care, not as an isolated activity usually practiced by women in the private sphere, but as an aktivity, which is affected family relationships or deciding provide/not provide home care etc. For this reason I used as the theoretical basis of this work feminist ethics of care, which does not care define "natural" / spontaneous female activity, and enable to reveal the gender line of care. That is the main topic of this thesis. For a deeper understanding of the phenomenon of home care I used biographical interview. It's main characteristic is the emphasis on stories from participants, which was an important aspect that helped me put the care in a broader social context Key words: home care, feminist ethic of care, biographical interviews.
The Pauline epistles from the viewpoint of feminist theological critique
Elsayed Posselt, Petra ; Knotková - Čapková, Blanka (advisor) ; Kiczková, Zuzana (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on chosen texts by feminist theologists and their critical elevation on particular extracts from the Pauline epistles that refer to women and their position in the patriarchal ordering of society. My main intention is to examine how feminist theologists work with selected feminist concepts and to which extent they take them into account. By the help of a gender analysis of the chosen texts from feminist theologists I also try to prove that they do not take gender into account in a sufficient way. As my method I have chosen the qualitative conent analysis of feminist theological texts. In the end I can say that feminist theologists take gender issues more into account than I expected. Nevertheless, at places where they do not take these issues into account, their arguments lack for impact. Feminist theologists work well with feminist concepts, I do however recommend to take them into account more as I recommended with gender issues.
Beyond The Frontier: The Analysis of Abortion Discourses in (Un)democratic Czechoslovakia
Prajerová, Andrea ; Havelková, Hana (advisor) ; Kiczková, Zuzana (referee)
My thesis focuses on reproductive politics of (un)democratic Czechoslovakia, namely on the discursive construction of abortion as presented in the scientific and political discourses in the 20's and 50's. The aim is to compare the discourses and track the genealogy of control and regulation of women's bodies as biopolitical spaces within the Czechoslovakian nation. The text uses theories of G. Agamben, M. Foucault and R. Miller which deprive from the classical/juridical model of sovereignty and rights and offer a biopolitical one instead. Using this perspective the text tries to answer whether there is a difference between scientific and political discourses of so-called democracy and communism. That is, whether by putting the abortion into the center it is possible to speak about democracy and communism as if they were two different and mutually exclusive systems. Through the lenses of poststructuralist feminist analysis the thesis tries to doubt the binaries of "communism" - "democracy", "East" - "West", in which democracy always signals the good and communism evil. Analysing the discourses surrounding the enactment of 1957 law the text also ponders whether it is possible to read the law as a typical communist product, implanted by someone from the outside.

Gender Aspects of Rehabilitation Care of People with Disabilities in Rehabilitation Centre Kladruby
Svatková, Petra ; Kolářová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Kiczková, Zuzana (referee)
In diploma thesis I have focused on gender aspects of rehabilitation care of men and women with a physical "handicap" that was not inborn. Theoretical sources of the thesis were mainly concepts of the Feminist Disability Studies, whose point of view helped me to specify the terms "disablement" and "handicap" and to embed them into broader meaning of medicinal, social and cultural models, which I have subjected to critical reading. I was especially interested in intersectionality of gender and "disablement" and I introduced its possible implications. In the chapter called "Methodology" I determined my research position and ethical aspects linked to the topic of handicap; methodological procedures used in the thesis were also introduced in this chapter. After introducing Rehabilitation Center Kladruby and its function I went on describing the form and course of the rehabilitation care as well as concrete rehabilitation methods. The basis of the empirical part of the thesis were interviews with disabled men and women who repeatedly underwent physiotherapy in the Rehabilitation Center Kladruby. The analyses of the interviews were focused on gender aspects of perceiving the center as an institution, as well as on the way the role of gender projects to the rehabilitation care and the overall life with handicap.

The aim of this work is than to capture the importance of this profession in the life of an individual woman. What let her to the choice of this occupation, how she perceived her own position here, how she could coordinate her occupation and her private life. I work with a narrative interview. It means telling, which I than subsequently sorting, analyze and interpret. Method Oral History suits well my goal, that means to provide a specific woman the possibility of tansmission of her life experience. As a unique, unrepeatable, most important moment in my work I consider nonsuch storyteller lady Květuše Musilová. We can look, into her world of subjective perceptions and strategies, which this woman in the social reality, framed by a particular profession and time, lived through. What her approach would mean from the perspective of feminist reflection I deal with at the end of my work. This...

Krátká, Lenka ; Havelková, Hana (advisor) ; Kiczková, Zuzana (referee)
The main target of this work is gender analysis of Czech film posters created in year 1968 with emphasis on identification of main presentation patterns of women and men in this kind of graphic art as well as on interpretation of these works in the frame of a given historical and social context. Within theoretical part of the work, mainly function and expression of film poster is presented as well as conditions of graphic art work in the period of communist totality. In the analytical part, conclusions of some 'Western' theories related to gender in advertisements (Erving Goffman, Judith Williamson, Jean Kilbourn; Libora Oates-Indruchová within domestic context) are compared with femininity and masculinity displays on film posters from year 1968. Beside this, analysis is aimed on identification of specific characteristics of film posters production in a given period and also on ways of presentation (and mutual interaction) of patriarchal discourse on the one hand and communist ideology on the other. Analysis of film posters from 1968 collection detects stereotype images of women (women as passive objects) and presentations of hierarchical arrangement of gender relationships (women as a disadvantageous group). Within the analysed file of posters there were also identified alternative representations of...

Štenclová, Jitka ; Knotková - Čapková, Blanka (advisor) ; Kiczková, Zuzana (referee)
The main aim of my work is to characterize the images of female literary heroines in the context of the horror genre. Analysis and interpretations of the selected texts have been drawn on two levels. The first stage of my analysis is the interpretation of women figures in area of today's social norms and values. This means on the socio-cultural level. The second stage is the analysis of archetypal symbology in text. The first chapter deals with theoretical approaches of literature in traditional and feministic point of view in connection with theories of analysis and interpretation. In the second chapter I am in detail interested in questions of methodology and methods and their application on the horror text on the theoretical and practical level in the context of my analysis. The chapter contains theoretical limitation of content interpretative analysis as a method I chose. The next chapter comes out from common theoretical definition of genre. The factors typical especially for the horror genre are there described in more detail. The content of this chapter is targeted on the theoretical, epistemological and practical concepts that allow me to apply them to the concrete level of horror genre. The archetypes require independent chapter of my work. In the centre of my interest there is a basic definition...
