Four-cylinder in-line gasoline aircraft engine
Kučera, Ondřej ; Kučera, Pavel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The thesis deals with the structural design of a steel connecting rod for the aircraft engine Walter Mikron III, which is currently still manufactured and developed by company PARMA-TECHNIK, s.r.o. The proposed connecting rod would replace the current duralumin connecting rod. The work also contains a strength analysis of the designed component, in which it was aimed to verify the stress on the connecting rod, based on which the fatigue safety factor was performed. This is crucial for dynamically stressed parts of internal combustion engines. Furthermore, was investigated the effect of the change of the connecting rod on the torsional vibration of the crank mechanism. For this purpose, was built a discrete torsion model. The output of the whole work is the drawing documentation of the new connecting rod, meeting the requirements for application in an aircraft engine.
Gas exchange systems of two-stroke engines
Kovář, Michal ; Kučera, Pavel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the analysis of the development and critical evaluation of the gas exchange system of two-stroke engines. The aim of the work was to use research to concentrate various options for gas exchange system of two-stroke engines of various power categories, to describe individual solutions and point out the advantages and disadvantages of individual systems and then outline possible future developments in this area.
Methanol as an alternative fuel
Balcárek, Ondřej ; Kučera, Pavel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This Bachelor thesis is a topic review of problematics of alternative fuel solutions, in particular of methanol and it's production. The aim was to describe properties and possibilities of use of methanol, not only as fuel, but also as a raw material in chemical industry. The information was obtained mainly from English-written sources. Finally, in conclusion part, use and potential of methanol in period of transition to renewable sources is being reviewed.
Concept of an In-line Spark-ignition Engine
Kočvara, Antonín ; Píštěk, Václav (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
This thesis deals with comparison of straight four-cylinder petrol engine with a displacement of 1,5 litres and its three-cylinder alternative, which is based on a four-cylinder. The thesis starts with a research, where are examples of some currently manufactured engines. The research is followed by design of both engines, where the design of the crank mechanisms is made more in detail. After that, both crank mechanisms are subjected to dynamic analysis using FEM and MBS methods. The thesis ends with comparison of both engines in terms of crankshaft load, mass and dimensions.
Modification of a four cylinder diesel engine to a single cylinder test engine
Mátyás, Attila ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This thesis deals with modification of an existing four-cylinder diesel engine to a singlecylinder research engine. The work is divided into four main parts. The first part is theoretical, briefly describes research engines, their individual types and provides an overview of their functions. The second part of the work includes the modification of a four-cylinder diesel engine to a single-cylinder research engine, focusing mainly on balancing inertia forces. The third, most extensive chapter contains the structural analysis of the crankshaft. The last part contains the design of a torsional coupling, which ensures the connection of the engine with the dynamometer.
Powertrain of four-cylinder in-line gasoline aircraft engine
Novák, Vít ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The focus of this work is to determine the stress of the crank mechanism of the inverted piston aircraft engine Walter Mikron III C UL from the manufacturer PARMA - TECHNIK, s.r.o. The main method of calculation is the numerical finite elements method using the program ANSYS Workbench, the module Static structural and Transient structural. The approximate indicated cylinder pressure during the duty cycle was determined in the GT-SUITE software. The partial goals are to propose possible modifications in the construction of the crank mechanism and to state the possible power reserves of the engine. The diploma thesis also briefly summarizes the history and development of aircraft piston engines from the company Walter, which developed the engine, and the line of Walter Mikron engines.
Six-cylinder in-line diesel engine with cylinder deactivation
Novosád, Ivan ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
Master 's thesis deals with design of a drivetrain of six cylinder inline engine with cylinder deactivation for heavy agricultural vehicles. In this thesis were devised various possibilities of crankshaft balancing, the best design solution of counterweight was based on optimization in software Catia. Further, the crankshaft was analysed for force and momentum loading and torsional vibration, based on which, the torsional vibration damper was designed. There were considered several options for cylinder deactivation, which were analysed for finest run of engine and the best thermal distribution. Based on these criteria, the best option was to deactivate 2nd and 5th cylinder. The crankshaft was analysed for the fatigue failure by finite element method. The fatigue failure is the most dangerous case for the crankshaft, the resulting safety factor for this limit state is 3,05.
Range extender of an electric vehicle
Jelínek, David ; Píštěk, Václav (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
This thesis describes the design of a four-stroke engine with two cylinders, using as a range extender. The first chapter briefly introduces the company Škoda Auto a.s., for which the range extender was designed. Also, there is a list of the available electric and hybrid vehicles manufactured by this company. The next chapter deals with the division of hybrid vehicles, as an intermediate step for the use of electric vehicles, the reason for their use and the definition of advantages and disadvantages of hybrid vehicles. Also, the range extender technology is described here. The third chapter contains a description of the conceptual design of the range extender and describes the design and balancing of the crankshaft in more detail. The last chapter describes the calculation of the crankshaft dynamics and the individual parts load. The resulting crankshaft safety is determined by comparing the calculated values with a series-produced 1.0 MPI evo engine, which is the base of the described range extender.
Cylinder deactivation of a spark-ignition engine
Fridrichová, Kateřina ; Píštěk, Václav (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
This thesis focuses on a technology called cylinder deactivation. The technology helps reducing emissions and fuel consumption. The first part summarizes the possibilities of application of the cylinder deactivation technology as well as advantages resulting from combination with other technologies. The thesis also consists of two design options for valvetrain in inline four-cylinder engine and the results of simulations of dynamics of its cranktrain.
Chassis design of a kart
Pykal, Filip ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with construction solution of a go-kart. In the first part of this thesis I started to design the main frame of the go-kart so that it would fulfill specific criteria. Then I designed all the functional parts except for the engine. I payed attention that the montage and service work would be as easy as possible. I also made an analysis of the rear shaft.
