The first is based on description and explanation of the current position of female racers in motorsport (are they considered a regular part of motorsport and do they constitute a competition for male racers, or are they just decorative anomalies?). Motorsport is one of the very few mixed sports. The second task is to answer the question whether it would be useful to establish separated women-only categories, which might attract more racers. The thesis consists of two key parts. The explanatory section of this text presents a theoretical explanation of the contemporary situation (using the theory of the lenses of gender). The empirical part is derived from expert interviews and interviews with top Czech female racers. The conclusion of the thesis is a compilation of findings provided by both parts of the text. The essential result is the need to preserve mixed competition which would be free of socio-cultural barriers which hinder the beginnings of women in motorsport.

Through the construction of weighted additive index of yuppie and bobo lifestyle the study is asking whether the young, economically active Czech population tends to these ways of life, or even has their representatives, to what extent they meet the American image of yuppies and bobos, which is their socio-demographic profile and mutual relationship. These questions are examined twice, in 2001 and in late 2011 and 2012, so we can observe development of these two lifestyles in terms of Ingelhart's transition theory from materialist to post-materialist values . The thesis shows that we can find a group of people professing the whole set of yuppie atittudes and also a group that is with some reservations similar to bobos. Detected high rate of closeness of both lifestyles, however, leads to a redefinition of purely materialistic yuppies for the Czech environment and to identification of yuppie lifestyle with post-materialist consciousness. Bobos are permanently characterized only by university education, pos-materialistic yuppies also by the highest personal income and household income. Number of post-materialist yuppies is more than twice bigger than bobos, during the...
Sananim in Prague 5 - a Point of Conflict
Drbohlavová, Barbora ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Kotík, Michal (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the conflict that appeared after a drop-in centre for drug users was opened in the street Na Skalce in Prague 5 in April 2010. Local residents and politicians expressed their disapproval with the activities of the drop-in centre in the area that they defined as residential. The opposition based their arguments against drug services near recreational and educational facilities on the values of home, family, private property and perceived feeling of security. The primary conflict of local residents versus drug service providers was based on processes of ascribing negative characteristics to the group that was identified as unwanted in the community. Stigmatization and labelling of drug users were associated not only with drug users, but also with social workers who offer treatment and help to drug users. The data were collected from media messages and analysed by methods of the grounded theory.
