Škopová, Alena ; Hrabec, Ondřej (advisor) ; Mikuláš, Martin (referee)
This work focuses on the experience of the first-time user in virtual reality. It explores the psychological and pedagogical aspect of this experience and learning in virtual reality. The theoretical part explains immersion, presence, suspense of disbelief and cognitive presence in order to better explain the users' experience. The process of experiencing VR is compared with a more traditional experiential pedagogy and with its two models. The empirical part is based on data from observations and in-depth semi-structural interviews. 3 years worth of practice by working in the field of research, the VR Dimension gaming centre, is also included in the interpretation of results. The thesis explores the feelings of participants, the perceived depth of their immersion and what might break it in different situations; and their experience in different games, where they felt discomfort, fear or excitement and awe. It also tries to detect the problems that a teacher might encounter when using this technology for educative purposes and offers the solutions based on literature or the researcher's own experience of using this technology. This thesis is meant for anyone who wishes to teach others using VR or for anyone interested in some of the obstruction that may arise.

Widláková, Kateřina ; Lukavská, Kateřina (advisor) ; Hrabec, Ondřej (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the regulation of time in adult computer game players, especially how players are able to regulate their own time spent playing computer games, what strategies they use for this, or how they are regulated by people around them, and whether self-regulation has been affected by family education and regulation of gaming by parents. It was also examined whether self-regulation or parental regulation affects the development of Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD), or whether personality traits have a part to do with it. The research group consisted of 40 respondents of young adult players who started playing computer games as early as childhood or adolescence. The data collection took the form of an online questionnaire in the Google environment, therefore it was sent to players electrationally. In the second, the themes emerging from the analysis, relating to the field of psychology, were described. The empirical part of the research is based on qualitative design, more specifically on the method The Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Within the research two in-depth interviews with two investigative journalists were made. Each of the respondents is dedicated to different type of investigative journalism and focuses primarily on different geographical area. Within the characteristics of IPA I concentrated on their subjective experience while the working process. Both of the respondents were asked to talk freely about what they considered important relating to my questions. Integrity in seniors
Demaj, Martina ; Chrz, Vladimír (advisor) ; Hrabec, Ondřej (referee)
This diploma thesis was focused on the study of integrity, its aspects, forms and resources in seniors, which we have identified as persons with a high degree of integrity based on established criteria. The aim of this work was to capture and understand the unique life experience of these seniors. The work consists of a theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part consists of explanation of concepts of integrity and old age, in particular we focus on Erikson's conception of integrity and concept of successful aging. The empirical part consists of qualitative research aimed at finding sources and manifestations of integrity in three unique life stories of seniors aged 75-91. We obtained data for our research in a home for the elderly through semi-structured interviews, which we then analyzed using the method of interpretative phenomenological analysis. The results are presented from two perspectives. The first is an analysis of the experience of individual seniors, the second represents the perspective of themes that are important for integrity and appeared in most of our respondents. These themes are: Activity, Moral Integrity, Trust - Acceptance - Surrender, Ways of Living, Modesty, Relationship Orientation and Spirituality. We also created a category for unique qualities, which appeared...

Fiantoková, Barbora ; Chrz, Vladimír (advisor) ; Hrabec, Ondřej (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with topic of resilience or coping with unpleasant conditions in human life. The aim of this thesis was to identify individual experience of resilient persons in older age. We would like to capture strategies of these resilient seniors during crisis situation with an emphasis on the unique life experience of man. Due to nature of our aims problem qualitative research and a semi-structured interview was used. As we are interested in recording and understanding the unique life experience, we have chosen the IPA method to analyze the data. The research set is a statement of four resilient persons aged between 80 and 90 years. The interviews were analyzed in two steps. First we worked out experiences of individual people and their basic schemes and we emphasized the essential characteristics and features of our respondents. On the second level, we searched for common themes and categories of examined people. We called these common topics "resilience resources." The key finding of the thesis is to identify different resources of resilience and their theoretical anchorage. These resources are: openness, relationships, activity, meaning of life, sense of humor, absence of rumination loop and realism. KEYWORDS: Resilience. Old age. Qualitative research. Interpretative...
Growing old needs „good strong story“: perspective of narrative gerontology
Chrz, Vladimír ; Dubovská, Eva ; Poláčková Šolcová, Iva ; Hrabec, Ondřej
Our contribution summarizes a number of studies aimed at resilience and integrity in old age. As a unifying Framework, we use a supposition of narrative gerontology (W.Randall), that the good aging is a creative work and the „story we live by“. Narrative gerontology is a part of a more general approach in social sciences, which assumes, that our experience, thinking, acting or identity are construed narratively. The narrative approach enables the understanding of the fact that resilience or integrity in old age needs „good strong story“. The stories that provide continuity, unity, course, and meaning to our experience, can be studied utilizing various types of narrative analysis. Presented are the results of the research of resilience in old age, where we identified several story genres. These are enabling to live the successful life against various troubles, which are connected with old age.
Social aspects of modern board games
Jarůšková, Judita ; Hrabec, Ondřej (advisor) ; Klusák, Miroslav (referee)
The thesis deals with the theme of modern board games and the interactions of a small social group. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part provides an introduction to the theory of play as such with a more detailed understanding of two play concepts. I also deal with the definition of board games and the differences between classical and modern board games. I devote more space to the modern board games with emphasis on three aspects, namely the social dimension of the play, the existence of the board as a meaningful game space and specific game material. The theory also includes the introduction of a method Interaction Process Analysis of F. Bales and a selected typology of group roles that are both used in the empirical part of the thesis. In the practical part is presented a research of qualitative methodology consisting of observation of three game groups during the part of a concrete modern board game (Dead of Winter). An audio record was taken from each observed game. The collected data was then encoded and processed according to the method of the Interaction Process Analysis and subjected to further analysis. The output of the work is mainly the characteristics of player interactions, the description of their group roles as well as the so-called...
Younger school aged children and their moral judgement
Havelková, Lucie ; Klusák, Miroslav (advisor) ; Hrabec, Ondřej (referee)
As the title indicates, our thesis focuses on the moral judgment of children. In analogy to the diploma thesis of Eliška Kuruczová, we as well used situations of social games and stories about lying and unfair authority. The main source for our thesis was Jean Piaget's The moral judgment of the child, published published in 1932, in which Piaget presented the results of his interviews with children. In his research, Piaget stated that moral judgment within dimension of game rules is more complex and requires higher level of orientation in moral issues. But Piaget considers games in general as a competition because of social organization and that's a meeting point where Eliška Kuruczová's bachelor thesis follows on. This thesis examines how different social organization of games influences moral orientation in the issue of games. Thanks to this thesis, which our thesis is based on, we could focus on other questions in Piaget's research that remained unanswered, eg. whether there is a link between the level of orientation in social games and the age of children, or what type of game social organization is the most / least difficult for children's orientation. For triangulation of our research on moral judgment development, we used stories about lying and unfair authority in our interviews. We tried...
