Design of winglet for LS-3 glider
Koutník, Tomáš ; Šošovička, Róbert (referee) ; Popela, Robert (advisor)
This diploma thesis describes the design of winglets for LS-3 glider. The method for determination of main winglet parameters based on selected criterion is presented as well as comparation of performace of original wing and final modification. It also includes analysis of wing loading and resetting of speed and weight limits for flying with winglets.
Design of installation radiator into the test section
Vaněk, David ; Koutník, Tomáš (referee) ; Lajza, Ondřej (advisor)
The purpose of this Bachelor thesis is design of installation radiator into test section and appropriate dimensioning of the construction. In conclusion, to perform a financial analysis of the installation radiator.
Aerodynamic characteristics of airfoils
Foltýn, Pavel ; Cejpek, Jakub (referee) ; Koutník, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis describes an influence of geometric characteristics of an airfoil on its aerodynamic properties. The first part of the thesis defines airfoil, describes its geometric characteristics, emergence of aerodynamic forces and convection around airfoil. The second part deals with influence of profile geometry on aerodynamic properties of airfoils. It is shown on NACA four and six digit profiles, in their buoyancy and moment lines and polars. The last part deals with wind tunnels and measurement in them. The thesis focuses on forces and moments measurement by force balances and static and total pressure measurement. Velocity measurement is focused on the laser Doppler velocimetry, on the hot-wire velocity probe and PIV method. Very briefly selected flow visualization methods are shown there. Comparison of profile characteristic obtained by measuring in wind tunnels and numerical simulation in Xfoil program is also shown there.
Demonstration equipment for rubber-pad forming
Kubo, Michal ; Koutník, Tomáš (referee) ; Klement, Josef (advisor)
This project elaborated within bachelor study, describes brief view of forming process with elastic instrument. These technologies are used mostly in aeronautical produce, due to its advantages. Thesis also contains design of equipment, which helps with presentation of these technologies during teaching of subject Aircraft manufacture.
Airplanes with VTOL and STOVL characteristics
Kováčik, Matej ; Koutník, Tomáš (referee) ; Horák, Marek (advisor)
Review article, which dissertates about concepts and characteristics of airplanes in VTOL and STOVL category. The main part of text deals with advantages and disadvantages of specific problems and their solutions like use of different propelling solutions, means of handling in flight with low or zero airspeed and transitions to forward flight. Next it contains an overview of chosen airplanes in this category with description of their use and conceptual solutions.
Aircraft Power Units
Koutník, Tomáš ; Šplíchal, Miroslav (referee) ; Šošovička, Róbert (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with review of today most used aircraft power units. Briefly explains their purpose, working principle and most important influences on their function. Voluminous passage informs about main parts of aircraft power units and their functions. At the end of this thesis the directions of aircraft power units development are presented.
Polyphony in the work of J. B. Foerster and his contemporaries
Židek, Tomáš ; KOUTNÍK, Tomáš (advisor) ; CHVÁLA, Jiří (referee)
Josef Bohuslav Foerster (1859 - 1951) was a leading Czech composer of the late romantic era, like for example Josef Suk (1875 - 1935), Vítězslav Novák (1870 - 1949) and Otakar Ostrčil (1879 - 1935). This generation is sometimes called as "The first generation of Czech modern", but their musical language is directly connected to oeuvre by famous Czech composers of the nineteenth century Smetana, Dvořák and Fibich. Foerster's musical language is mystical, lyrical and emotional, mostly replete rich harmony and especially specific polyphony. He was not only an important musician but also a thinker, writer and painter. Until today, his great composer's work is not valued and only sometimes performed. This thesis is concerned with the specific traits of composer's musical language, polyphony, which is often different from Bach, Beethoven or Smetana. We can talk about specific free polyphony and way of musical thinking dependent on many things and ideas. This cause and many others aspects provide particular problems for performers and music listeners. The dissertation includes many analyses of selected compositions by Foerster, which are also compared with others by his contemporaries, especially Suk and Mahler (1860 - 1911), who was Foerster's close friend. In liturgical music Foerster created a unique and very distinctive product of the Caecilian reform movement in church music, which had its striking culmination in the Czech lands during Foerster's lifetime. Extensive choral oeuvre is made in a specific musical-poetic style. Symphonic compositions, especially five symphonies are to a large extent autobiographical; and operas are in a realistic concept, which we can compare with dramas by Leoš Janáček (1854 - 1928). The thesis is based upon author's wide experience of performing composer's work and large volume of literature with some works written by J. B. Foerster. The author tries to solve problems of performing this music, as a conductor, choir master, educator and propagator.

The swedish choral phenomenon.
Hájek, Michal ; KOUTNÍK, Tomáš (advisor) ; BRYCH, Jaroslav (referee)
In Sweden there is a large amount of top-class choirs today as well as lots of excellent and demanding compositions for a cappella with professional ensembles. In my master thesis I analyse this interesing phenomenon. In the first chapter I take a look at the history. I examine various aspects which had formed Swedish choral art in the 18th and 19th centuries. In the second chapter I describe the development of the Swedish choral music in the 20th century, especially the activities of a famous choirmaster and teacher of music, Eric Ericson. In the third chapter I analyse the nature of the Swedish choral sound ( attaching also some recordings). In the last chapter I present a few excerpts from the scores of the crucial Swedish choral music pieces of the 20th century. It turns out that the Swedish choral miracle is the result of a long-time development and that numerous historical, cultural, musical and sociological aspects are involved.
