Škarda, Robert ; Douša, Eduard (advisor) ; Havlík, Jaromír (referee) ; Kordík, Pavel (referee)
Polystylism and Collage in Czech Music in the Second Half of the 20th Century by Robert Škarda Key words: czech music, collage, polystylism, postmodernism, quotation, style contraposition, team composition The topic of my thesis Polystylism and Collage in Czech Music in the Second Half of the 20th Century is the area of Czech composers' works based mainly on style contraposition, stylization of historical or jazz music and usage of quotations. My work is based on assumption of historicity of musical terminology. I consider the notions polystylism and collage as period musical terms and I attempt to reconstruct their meaning. Time definition of the thesis is delimited by the years 1960 and 2000. Lower time limit is selected regarding to nature of the topic - the 60s are the period when works and reflections belonging to the context of the notions polystylism and collage first appeared. The first part of my thesis focuses on the general mapping of the topic polystylism and collage. I summarized relevant musicology literature and I dealed with historical and teoretical relations of polystylism and collage to related terms (first of all postmodernism, montage and style), I was concerned with the context of European and American music and with question of polystylism and collage in Czech popular music....
The Asian department's musical instrument collection of the Náprstek Museum of Prague from an ethnoorganological point of view
Friedl, Marian ; Matoušek, Vlastislav (advisor) ; Havlík, Jaromír (referee)
My theses The Asian department's musical instrument collection of the Náprstek Museum of Prague167 from an ethnoorganological point of view deal with several topics in seven parts: 1. The first part describes the evolution of the ethnomusicological thinking and also the thinking about musical instruments and classification in organology. This part is also aimed to reveal the interrelations between cultural anthropology, ethnomusicology, ethnoorganology and classificatory organology. 2. A specific classification based on Hornbostel-Sachs systematik is shown and explained here as a basis for one part of musical instrument's description in the Náprstek Museum's computer database. 3. How to work with the museum's computer software, how the describing terms from part 2 are used in the database and how they can help us while working with instruments, these topics are included here. 4. In part four we can find numerical and graphical evaluation of the content of collection based on work with the museum's computer software and the describing system devised for this purpose. 5. This part offers basic organographical description of the musical instruments formerly long-lastingly exhibited. (Since 2001 floods whole collection unapproachable.) 6. The Chinese instrumental ensemble and genre Jiangnan sizhu is depicted...
John Frederick of Wallenstein and his disputes over taxes to the Turkish war (1682 - 1694)
Havlík, Jiří ; Vlnas, Vít (referee)
The ann of this thesis of archbishop of Prague Johann Friedrich von Waldstein (1642 - 1694; archbishop 1675-1694) consists in description of conflicts with Czech land assembly and state apparatus in the years 1678, 1679, 1682-1686 and 1691-1694. The last and most important continued also after his death (3'^'* June 1694). That time Czech clergy sent two deputies (further archbishop Daniel Ignatius Mayer of Mayem and abbot of monastery in Plasy Andreas Troyer) to Vienna, to arrange adjustment of a dispount, which culminated on the beginning of the year 1694. Principal chapters of this thesis deal with conflicts in the years 1682-1686 and 1691- 1694 (chapters 4-7). These are based on detailed archive research, especially of sources of 1®' department of National Archives in Czech republic (Archives of archiepiscopate in Prague), Family archives of Waldstein, located in The Regional State Archives in Prague and Archivio Segreto Vaticano in Cittá del Vaticano. Some subsidiary sources I have found also in Archivům Romanům Societatis Jesu, The Regional State Archives in Litoměřice or in Archivio di Pontificia Universita Gregoriana in Italy, Main issue of the thesis shapes four points: First one was the description of main events of the history of Prague archiepiscopate (and in part also of Litoměřice episcopate),...
Design and synthesis of surface architectures on fluorescent nanodiamonds
Havlík, Jan
anks to their unique properties and high biocompatibilities, fluorescent nanodiamonds are promising representatives of modern carbon nanomaterials with a broad range of applications. Nevertheless, their wider use is limited because of weak fluorescence intensity and low colloidal stability in the biological environment. e optimization of treatment procedures and development of new suitable surface designs is therefore critically needed. In this study, several key steps for fluorescent nanodiamond treatment have been optimized, leading to both a substantial increase in fluorescence intensity and to significantly lower surface damage caused by graphitization. Further, a new high-throughput irradiation technique was developed. e influence of surface chemistry on the fluorescence parameters was studied using partial fluorination of the functional groups on the nanodiamond surface. A novel method which significantly affects the interaction of nanodiamonds with biological systems by increasing of the homogeneity and circularity was developed. e potential of nanodiamonds for future medical and biological research was demonstrated on particles with complex surface architectures that enabled targeting and therapy of tumor cells. Moreover, a strong and highly selective affinity of fibroblast growth factors to diamond...
Virtual reality as a tool for rehabilitation of patients with multiple sclerosis
Rodina, Lubomír ; Řasová, Kamila (advisor) ; Havlík, Jan (referee)
Introduction Virtual reality is able to simulate conditions, which would be very hard to imitate in common practise and therefore it brings much more complex perception (optical and auditory incentives), it has positive influence on psychical state and at the same time increases motivation. Commonly available games do not have the therapeutical effect and do not provide any feedback about performed move. Because of the reasons mentioned before, the objective of this thesis was to develop and also optimalize speacially designed physiotherapeutic feedback-providing program in virtual environment for a purpose of increasing functionality of upper limb, improving sitting balance and quality of getting up of patients suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS). Method Prospective study has been realized by Clinic of rehabilitation medicine FNKV in Prague and Third Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in cooperation with Faculty of Applied Sciences at University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. Development of the rehabilitative application began in May 2019, the testing took place from October 2019 to August 2020. Patients suffering from multiple sclerosis with upper limb disorder have been chosen based on advertising of the study in MS centers, ROSKA Union and via SMS in two waves (first and second cohort)....
Serenade E major Op. 22 (B 52) and Serenade for Wind Instruments Op. 44 (B 77) of Antonín Dvořák in Context of Musical Genre of the Orchestral Serenade of the 2nd 19th Century
Kolátorová, Petra ; Gabrielová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Havlík, Jaromír (referee) ; Niubo, Marc (referee)
Mgr. Petra Kolátorová Abstract: Thesis dealt with the Serenade E major Op. 22 (B 52) and the Serenade for Wind Instruments Op. 44 (B 77) of Antonín Dvořák in the view of the musical genre of the orchestral serenade. It answered the question of influence and meaning of the Dvořák's Serenades among Serenades of his contemporaries, the question of place of this genre among the other musical genres and the question of reflection of music criticism at that time. Analysis of both works and their comparison with the selected works showed the way how the expectation of this genre reflected in the compositional ways and methods of both Dvořák's Serenades. The composer in his Serenades depicted all layers of meaning of this genre as was such a noble simplicity, oscilation of the genre between chambre and orchestral music between artistic or rather entertaining character of music, continuity of original serenades and history of the genre. Dvořák had created the works which in certain aspects foreshadowed near future (neoclasicism).

Settlement development of Hellenistic Bactria
Havlík, Jakub ; Stančo, Ladislav (advisor) ; Tušlová, Petra (referee)
Jakub Havlík, Vývoj osídlení Baktrie v období helénismu Abstract: Primarily based on the archaeological evidence, the aim of the proposed thesis is to present an image of a settlement situation in the region of Bactria (Central Asia) during the Hellenistic period. The main subject of the study is a comparison of settlement patterns of the Achaemenid and Hellenistic periods, as well as a characterization of settlement transformation, which occurred after the conquest of Alexander the Great, after almost two hundred years of Greek rule in the area. In this thesis, the individual settlement-sites are classified according to their size and their hypothetical function in the whole settlement structure. Besides the morphology of the site, their position was examined, as well as a distribution and mutual relations within the context of the natural landscape. Attention was paid to larger sites (cities, fortified settlements), and minor ones (rural settlements) and their agglomerations, as well as specific settlement forms, such as fortresses or sanctuaries. All the studied settlements are presented in form of catalogue and maps. Data analysis shows that a huge decrease in settlement structure and a break in development can be observed in relatively large part of Bactria, at the end of Achaemenid period, what...
