Complete scenographic solution of the opera: From the House of the Dead (Leoš Janáček)
Straková, Anežka ; DAVID, Milan (advisor) ; DUŠEK, Jan (referee)
The topic of my bachelor’s thesis is From the House of Dead. It is the last opera written by well-known czech composer, Leos Janacek. During one semester I have analysed and researched this composition, to look for forms and principles, which could be used in potential realisation. The aim of my work was to find an complete scenographic solution for this opera. As a result I am presenting you my suggestions, plans and steps of the whole working process. I am glad to bring you closer to Janacek’s composition and my interpretation of his opus. At first, I would shortly describe Leos Janacek’s life, his works and attitude towards Russian culture. Then, I will continue with an introduction of writer F. M. Dostojevskij, whose novel The House of the Dead has become an model for Janacek’s opera. I will also talk about the opera’s topic, which is slightly atypical for this kind of work, and present some realisations from his death till now. In the end I will describe my own concept as costumes and set designs.

Dušek, Jan ; Dittmann, Robert (advisor) ; Andrlová Fidlerová, Alena (referee)
The diploma thesis Philological Marginal Notes in John's Gospel of Blahoslav's Translations of New Testament deals with the characteristics of the philological marginal notes in John's Gospel of Blahoslav's New Testament from the year 1564 and 1568. The life of Jan Blahoslav, the information about Blahoslav's New Testament and the history of the research about his translation of New Testament are summarised in the thesis as well as the tradition of Bible commentary and marginal notes in their European and Czech contexts. In the practical part the thesis presents the number of philological marginal notes explored in both editions, the number of variants in marginal notes and their word class distribution. It tries to find possible sources for the text in marginal notes. It uses Czech printed translations of the Bible (Klaudyán's New Testament, Lukáš's New Testament, Optát's New Testament, Melantrich's Bible of 1556-1557) and Latin translations by Erasmus and Beza and their annotations and Vulgate. As a supplement to the thesis there is also a list of excerpted philological marginal notes from both editions of Blahoslav's New Testament and corresponding places in Bible translations examined.

Dušek, Jan ; Matějec, Tomáš (advisor) ; Andrlová Fidlerová, Alena (referee)
The diploma thesis The Figure of Saint Procopius in Historiographical and Hagiographical Texts of the 16th and 17th Century observes, how the earthly life and the posthumous effect of the saint are narrated in early modern historiographical and hagiographical literary relics. The thesis is also dedicated to miracles, which happened because of the intercession of Saint Procopius in the middle ages, and the fortune of the Slavonic monastic community of Sázava until the year 1097. It focuses on the changes, which Saint Procopius's theme has undergone in particular early modern works. It considers medieval legends of Saint Procopius, too. As a supplement to the thesis there is also a list of motifs connected with Saint Procopius, which are mentioned in early modern historiographical and hagiographical texts.
Saint Procopius in literary sources
Dušek, Jan ; Hošna, Jiří (advisor) ; Matějec, Tomáš (referee)
The bachelor thesis Saint Procopius in Literary Sources is dedicated to Saint Procopius and The Monastery of Sázava in the period from the 11th to the 14th century. It observes the story both of this saint and the Slavonic monastery until 1097 on the basis of medieval legends about Saint Procopius. The thesis also deals with attitudes and opinions of historians and Slavists concerning information gained from the legends. These refer to the saint himself (e. g. his origin, Slavonic education, entry to monastery) as well as to the Monastery of Sázava, which is thus described as the well-known centre of Slavonic culture, and the residence of expelled Slavonic monk comunity during the period of 1055-1061. The depiction of the Monastery of Sázava until the 14th century is enlarged with the information about its situation in the Romanesque and Gothic period, which is known thanks to the archeological research done by Květa Richterová and Petr Sommer. This knowledge is discussed within the context of other works of art. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the position of Saint Procopius, our first saint canonized by pope in Rome, among the Czech saints.

Max Frisch: Andorra
Trpković, Andrijana ; DUŠEK, Jan (advisor) ; TEMPÍR, Nikola (referee)
The writing of Max Frisch and especially Andorra is dealing with compesation with past and attitude, with we are having towards history and deeds that were done. If we are able of selfreflection not just as a nation, but also in personal lifes. Another level of the story is is unconformity and differency of a main character Andri. Frisch is writing about a land called Andorra, but reader cannot avoid similarity with his birthland Switzerland, as I clearly see the resemblance in ,,greatness" of Czech republic. This work is nothing but reflection of todays situation in society and its direction, as well as direction of Theater (the actor and spectator of today, relationship between them, pretending vs. authenticity) and culture in our country as well as in german speaking countries.
