Pavlů, Regina ; Bartůňková, Staša (advisor) ; Kohlíková, Eva (referee) ; Velemínský, Miloš (referee)
Thesis is a pilot study to get reference figures for evaluation of relevancy of hemodynamic development disorders of coartation of the aorta. 18 healthy girls aged from 11 to 13 were tested. In total 450 measurements were carried out and 2700 figures were measured within 1 year in 5 positions. Blood pressure was measured on arteria brachialis and femoralis, supplemented by electric impedance technology on lower limb. The following positions were measured: standstill lying down on a bed, stand after passive verticality up to 66 degrees, standstill seat on a bicycle ergometer and load of 1W/kg and 2W/kg of body weight for 3 minutes. This thesis confirmed the differences in circulation reactions. The systolic pressure gradient among healthy population was lower than among patients with coarctation of aorta and during the physical load was decreasing. The results are important for diagnostics examinations of evolutionary defects. Keyvords: BMI, coarctation of aorta, systolic blood pressure, pressure gradient, load testing
Basal metabolic rate, dietary intervention and nutrients producing nociceptive pain in individuals with spinal cord injury
Chaloupková, Eva ; Heller, Jan (advisor) ; Bartůňková, Staša (referee) ; Kálal, Jan (referee)
Title: Basal metabolism and nutritional intervention for people with spinal cord injuries Objectives: The main objective of this work was empirical research of case evaluation studies (n = 3), where we analyzed: the relationship between energy expenditure (basal metabolism) and energy intake for people diagnosed with spinal cord injury (SCI). The secondary objective was to determine whether the changes in macronutrient distribution and daily energy intake would result in a decrease in body weight and body fat for individual probands. The pilot study in our work was focused on the overview of variable basal metabolism (BM) values for people with SCI. Methods: In our work, we used the method of indirect calorimetry to measure BM and together with the value of working metabolism we determined in the nutritional intervention (n. i.) the ideal energy intake for our probands. We observed primarily measurable changes in the amount of fat and muscle tissue. Results: We have found that, in keeping with the prescribed n. i. rules, all probands achieved to reduce their body weight. The average body weight loss for probands was 0.29 ± 0.02 kg per week. BM values in our pilot study were 15 to 61% lower for our probands (n = 15) and did not correlate with the height of SCI. Key words: spinal cord injury (SCI),...

Michalička, Vladimír ; Bartůňková, Staša (advisor) ; Maruna, Pavel (referee) ; Ptáček, Radek (referee)
Title: Effect of cognitive fatigue on present physical human performance. Goal: The goal of this thesis is to investigate the effect size of previous cognitive load on shooting accuracy and subsequent aerobic performance in observed group of army members. Method: An intervention randomized single blind crossover study was conducted on 17 males The measurements were conducted between November and December 2018 and in March 2019. After initial phase, each volunteer underwent two phases of the experiment in a random order. Psychological and physiological parameters were recorded, especially using standardized questionnaires, performance outcomes (heart rate, time to exhaustion during walking phase, shooting accuracy) and salivary cortisol levels. Results: Induced cognitive fatigue effects the psychophysiological state of human organism and its performance. Pearsons correlation values did not show linkage amongst psychic resistance, motivation to performance and cognitively demanding activity. Results showed the statistical significance of induced cognitive fatigue effect on shooting accuracy (p = 0,003). Also, a shift in the present mood was demonstrated in dimensions Fatigue p = 0,002 and Vitality p = 0,048 respectively. The shifts were caused by the previous aerobic load. The effect of induced...

Thesis title: The Effect of Taping Applied to the Skin with the Orientation along the Muscle Fibres of Underlying Muscle on the Activity of this Muscle Problem definition: Taping (the application of an adhesive elastic tape on the body surface) is a widely used therapeutic and preventive method in current sport, clinical and ADL practice. Previous research indicate that taping has effect on pain, proprioception, muscle activity and lymphatic or peripheral vascular circulation. One of the least objectively evaluated effect of taping is the effect on muscle activity. Although the facilitating or inhibiting effect of the tape achieved by the direction of its tension made by the application (from the muscle origin to the insertion or conversely) is commonly referred in available literature, it has not been investigated objectively enough. Objectives: The aim of the study was to evaluate the current findings of the taping method on the base of literature research, formulate hypotheses, work out a quality methodology for the clinical study and through it to evaluate the effect of taping applied to the skin with the orientation along the muscle fibres of underlying muscle on the activity of this muscle. Methods: The evaluation of the findings of the taping method with emphasis on the quality of provided...

Title: Ventilation - respiratory changes and diffusion of gases in the simulated snow avalanche. Goals: The aim of this study was to investigate different ventilation-respiratory parameters with breathing into the simulated snow avalanche with and without any air pockets. Method: An intervention randomized double blind crossover study was conducted on 12 male students of Military Department at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of Charles University. The study was realized in the Krkonoše Mountains in the period January 14 - 18th, 2013 at an altitude of 762 m above sea level. Each volunteer underwent two phases of the experiment in a random order: 1st phase "AP"- breathing into the snow with a 1 L air pocket, and 2nd phase "NP"- breathing into the snow with no air pocket. Physiological parameters, especially fractions of O2 and CO2 in the airways and work of breathing (WoB) expressed as Pressure- Time Product (PTP) were recorded continuously. Results: The presence of the air pockets and size has an important role in the survival of buried avalanche victims. The finding of this study is that it is possible to breath in the avalanche snow even with no air pocket (0 L), but breathing under this condition is associated with significantly increased work of breathing. The limiting factor in no...

Thiel, Dan ; Sýkora, Karel (advisor) ; Bartůňková, Staša (referee)
Title Comparison of heart rate in the aquatic environment and on land. Purposes The aim is to determine whether the body immersed just below the surface of the water has a significant effect on the change in heart rate compared to heart rate measured on land. Methods This is a quantitative research carried out by comparing of heart rate frequency in 30 probands, which were evaluated using statistical methods. The main output of the values was Student's paired t-test. Location of probands during the measurement was lying on his back. The height of the water column was 26 cm. Results Compare the effect of 26 cm high water column compared to normal atmospheric conditions, operating while lying on the body. Indicator is measured heart rate. We found no significant change in heart rate during measurement in resting heart rate in water, compared to measurement on land, p <0.05. Key words swimming, heart rate, water, diving, heart rate in water
Using Virtual Reality as a Therapeutic Modality for Children with Cerebral Palsy: a Review and Synthesis

Title: Using Virtual Reality as a Therapeutic Modality for Children with Cerebral Palsy: a Review and Synthesis Author: Bc. Petra Smolová Grammar correction: Jan Valeška Background: Cerebral palsy is often referred to as an" umbrella term" denoting a group of non-progressive conditions involving primarily a disorder of voluntary movement and/or co-ordination. A functional impairment is more important than diagnosis itself, due to the lifelong type of the disease. Therapy in children suffering from CP is nowadays based on individual movement therapy within a whole complex of rehabilitation programmes. The first line of treatment is building up an interdisciplinary team of professionals, led by paediatrics neurologist or neurologist who is pursuing rehabilitation. Physical therapist should always choose an eclectic approach, knowing only too well the reasons why. Virtual reality as a therapeutic modality is standing besides classic methods according to various authors, as we know from schools and different courses. However, this kind of treatment is novel, its results are greatly promising based on current research. Aim: The purpose of this thesis is to outline the use of virtual reality as a method of therapy in children with cerebral palsy in the main functional conditions - motor control, upper...
Hypercapnia and diffusion of gases in avalanche (Changes in functional parameters of individuals in a crisis situation)
